Another chapter, another disclaimer LOL
Ok I don't remember any warnings needed to be posted in this chapter
This is the start of the downfall of Hermione, soon pressure will build over the next couple of chapters until she finally blows.
And STEVE, LOL the reason my spelling has improved so much in he posted stories unlike my emails and blogs is the latest version of Microsoft word, it learns as you make spelling mistakes while in correct on the fly mode and fixes most of them as I type them in, so when I glance back at was entered I don't see any mistakes
to bad it does not work well with outlook LOL
Eyeing the empty doorframe once more Katre let go Harry and smirking his way stepped forward and being quite theatrical moved his arms around as if dancing with his upper body and creating a replacement door which hovered in the air for a moment before sliding backwards into the brackets of the doorframe with a clang. Finishing his twirl Katre smiled at Harry’s laughing face as he called, “There all better now.”
Minerva and Filius barely holding onto their wands as their grip slackened in their shock stood there as they watched the feat of wandless magic. Filius not believing his eyes moved over to the door and placed a hand against it feeling the solidness of door just turned and gapped at the newcomer.
Laughing Harry walked the few steps to his cousin and smacked him on the arm, “Showoff,” before grabbing his arm and waving the others to follow, “Come on let me show you around the school.”
Watching Harry drag the strange relation and his entourage inside Filius walked over to Minerva who was still staring blank eyed at the group and the door, “Well do you think you should go tell Harry he needs permission first to take visitors around?”
Looking at the group departing inside and then back to the door and back over to the group she looked down, “And take the chance of pissing off Harry’s relative,” pointing to the new door, ‘I may be a professor but I do not have a death wish, let Albus deal with it,” Minerva smirked
Dragging the group up to his rooms Harry was wondering if that is where the rest of the gang was hiding. Entering the rooms Harry saw everyone busy studying and waved, “Thanks Fred, George and the rest of you too.” Glancing back over the clock over the steps Harry confirmed that they had only missed their first class of the day settling down near Draco he pulled the blond over towards his lap so he could easily stroke his stomach as he continued to flirt with Deven.
Katre smiled as he watched Harry smiling and joking while Draco was sprawled across their laps, both caressing the bulging stomach, “Ron do you know where the headmasters office is? I think I want to pay my respects,” the cold voice certainly did not match the smile on his face.
Packing up his book Ron nodded, “Sure follow me, just let me make my escape before the bloodbath,” he half joked weakly.
Standing to follow Katre pointed at two of the guards telling them to stay with Harry and motioned for the others to follow him foot hitting the top of the step he heard Harry call out form behind him.
“Cousin WAIT,” Harry called out not bothering to get up, not that he could with Draco laying on him, eyes closed pants tented as he was being tortured by touch, but it was such a beautiful torture his mind kept telling him, “I will handle Dumbledore, he will either come clean with what he is hiding by this weekend or I will kill him with my own hands,” Harry voice could have melted stone with the venom contained within.
Nodding his head in agreement Katre turned around smiling, “then I shall see myself out, after all I think you have things well in hand I shall get back to running my own empire.”
Harry smiled in return, “I thank thee Cousin.”
“No thanks are needed between family, well met cousin,” Katre nodded his head as he walked towards the bookcase and the entrance to the hidden rooms and the way home.
Being reminded of the time Harry looked at the clock great, transfiguration then lunch followed by Herbology. Pulling Deven in for one last kiss followed by each of them kissing Draco he prodded Draco to stand up. Getting to his feet his gaze captured the six Sidhe guards still around the room, looking at Deven for an explanation, “Ron, Neville I will meet you in McGonagall’s class in a minute,” Not taking his eyes off Deven’s
“I assume there is a reason there is six more bodies in the room than I expected, at least until the first fifty volunteers arrive this weekend?” calmly without a hint of the warmth they shared a moment before in Harry’s voice.
Moving quickly to intercede before the King let his anger out, the six took up positions on one knee heads bowed. Eyeing them further Harry sighed, “My cousin left you on purpose knowing him he knew that once I realized you were guards that I would not make you go back.”
Dropping his glamour, which was mainly his eyes and the thin line he left in place for his scar Harry vanished his clothes and stepped close allowing the six to huddle around him in a circle each placing a hand on him, “I Harry King of the Unseelie, wielder of the hand of Flesh and Blood do hereby bind you to the Unseelie court, serve our people well.” With that the glow that was building around Harry engulfed all six kneeling around him, touching them, changing them, making them part of this world.
As the glow faded Harry was standing there back in his leather outfit, stepping around the kneeling Sidhe Harry started for the steps out of the tower, “Deven pick two to go with us, and one should stay here in the rooms just in case, I expect the others could wander around a bit switching off with those who are on guard duty.”
Silent for the trip to the transfiguration classroom, Harry went over in his mind his decision as he had decided to test McGonagall, as she had wanted to take him to Diagon ally at lunch time to get his school things and a new wand, he planned to leak to her about the new wands his friends used and depending on how she acted he would spend the time not shopping like she planned but in deep conversation instead. Looking at each of the new Sidhe he pointed to either side of the door before whispering to Deven, “Inside, we will be but a moment.”
Bowing his head slightly so to be taken as a nod by others Deven walked inside the classroom and took up position inside the door ignoring the students whispers as they tried find out who the stranger was, each coming up with a more outlandish theory than the previous.
Stopping in front of the Professor as she was busy eyeing the three newcomers Harry cleared his throat, “Professor I have to ask you if you plan to inspect every ones wand in this class Like Professor Flitwick is doing? If so I need to warn you not too physically touch the wands of my friends. The consequences could be…unpleasant.”
Uncertain by what he meant by that explanation, but nevertheless hopeful that he was opening up to someone Minerva nodded her head, “And these gentlemen?” she pointed to the two Sidhe on either side of the door.
Smiling Harry started to walk into the room, “my cousin was very unhappy with the Headmasters latest stunt so he gave me some of his guards, to ensure nothing else happens. I think you will find it covered under the by-laws, which reminds me as a legal adult I no longer stay in the dorms, and I should out of courtesy show you where the castle placed my rooms, the fewer who know where they are however…”
Still stuck on the guards covered by the Hogwarts by-laws Minerva remembered the passage, “But that section only deals with visiting royalty Mr. Potter and while old your fathers family had no royal connections.”
Laughing in his head Harry smirked, “wrong side of the family professor,” he walked past the students over to the desk Draco had saved for him, in-between Draco’s desk and Neville’s.
Distracted from the recent bought of information that was dropped into her lap McGonagall forgot to do her yearly transfiguration exhibition to impress the students and stuttered her way into the start of term notices. After warning of the importance of their OWL year she passed out the mice she had caged on her desk with a flick of her wand and when on to explain about cross species transfiguration and explained the wand movement and incantation for transfiguring the mouse into a cat, explaining how complex it was as you were turning a creature that was prey into a predator and their very nature conflicted and fought the spell.
Letting the students get on with it Minerva started to walk around the room staring with her favorite student because she was so enthused about learning, smiling she gently corrected her pronunciation as Hermione tried once more to attempt the spell and smiled down at her with encouragement as she got a partial transformation, turning to the next student she frowned, he was reading some thick tome, making notes and his mouse was nowhere to be seen, while she applauded the fact he had taken an interest into study never the less, “Mr. Weasley, while I am gratified at your interests in books this year, a novel experience to be sure, this time is set aside for you to practice mastering the spell work explained in class.” Looking sternly down at him she asked, “Where is your mouse, and why are you not practicing like the others?”
‘Huh,” Ron said as he looked up from the book he had borrowed from Harries library, looking around his desk he felt a movement near his neck,” Oh here he is?” he reached up and removed the playful mini cat who was rubbing against his neck and placing it down on the table in front of his book.
Shocked Minerva stepped back, “very good Mr. Weasley ten points to Gryffindor, next time try for something a little larger,” she told him as she examining the fully grown cat the size of the mouse she had given out, it even behaved like a cat should, she smiled as the mini cat was rubbing her thumb purring.
“Oh, alright professor next time I will try your way instead, I just thought it would be neat to have a cat the size of a mouse, darn useful I think” Ron replied distracted as he was trying to pay attention and finish the paragraph on ancient building techniques, after all if he planned to have four kids someday he needed to build a house, maybe even practice by reworking his parents house, plus some of the traps and defenses that were explained in the book were downright fascinating.
“My way?” Minerva questioned before levitating another mouse out of the cage to land in the center of the desk, “Show me what you did Mr. Weasley if you please.”
Shrugging his shoulders as he wanted to go back to his book, Ron pulled the book back and pulling his hand out of the holster Harry had given him quickly traced two double circles around the still mouse leaving a faint glow in his wands wake, before boxing the mouse in with a double star and tapping his wand on the top of the frozen mouse, turned it into a mate for the first mini cat all without saying a single thing. “There you go professor.”
“Ho…How,” Minerva stuttered out shocked to the core at the simple act of magic that broke every law of transfiguration she had been taught.
Hermione who was watching was shocked to the core, at first she was angry thinking Ron was once again slacking off to read some Quidditch book or something and then would come to her later on whining about needing help. Glaring at Ron and how he once never uttered a spell she tried to copy his movements by drawing a circle on her desk and frowned when no faint glowing lines were left behind, huffing and glaring angrily at Ron She started to say something but was interrupted by McGonagall who asked first.
Finally getting herself under control Minerva placed the mini cat she was holding on the desk near the other and watched in amazement as the two cats proceeded to posture like all cats as they sniffed at each other before the older of the two transfigured mice pounced on the other starting a mock play battle. “What in Merlin’s name did you do Mr. Weasley?”
Shrugging as he pushed his book back, “just a simple transmutation Professor, right easy it is too, Harry showed us how to do that this summer.” Ron glanced at the two min cats romping around on his desk, “right permanent too.”
Hermione glaring daggers At Ron for showing her up in class huffed several more times before all but ordering, “Show me Ron.”
Looking over at the angry witch Ron tried to think of the best way to tell his friend that he couldn’t, not really knowing the best way to do it just fell back to being blunt, “Sorry Hermione, but you will never be able to do this type of magic…I was not really paying to much attention to Harry when he explained it, as most of it was way over my head, but I do remember him saying a large part of magic would never be able to be performed by you,” he left off it was because she was so rigid and closed minded, but shrugged and went back to his reading, not caring about the time bomb he had just created.
Minerva not paying attention past Ron’s words when he explained that what he did was transmutation, was lost in thought as she pondered the fact that Harry had taught yet another bit of lost knowledge to the ravages of time, if she had she would have seen the looks of pure fury on her favorite pupils face before being brought out of her musings by the slamming of a book.
Glancing in the direction of the noise, “Miss Ganger sit back down and in the future keep such displays out of my classroom.”
‘Bu…But…” Hermione stuttered as she floundered around, she was upset and hurt that Harry had taught others this advanced magic, but would not even glance at her. And at the same time she was angry beyond anything she ever been before for him telling others she would never be able to do something.
Glancing around the room Minerva noticed the other students diligently working in small groups, a first for her class as students were helping each other quietly, then she glanced behind her and noticed that Harry’s group had pulled their desks around so that they were facing each other and they were discussing something as Draco was transfiguring a cat into a dog and from there into a bird very easily. “Ten points to Slytherin Mr. Malfoy for also completing this task, and another ten for taking it further.”
Walking over Minerva did not expect to see Harry attempt the exorcise as he did not have a wand, but as she got close enough to hear the conversation she did not expect to hear him talking Neville through the exorcise either. Stopping behind Harry she was shocked to learn that the was not explaining the assigned task but something totally different.
“Neville, this is very similar to what you are doing with the re-creation of the plants, but the difference is that there are several different steps involved if you are going to bring back an extinct species. Why you want to create a magical saber cat I have no idea?” Harry softly spoke as he waved his hand over the mouse, using the stick like wand she assumed so no other student found out he had no wand.
“It is one of the last ingredients needed to create the potion to re-grow the connections in the brains of my parents, or at least that is what I hope to do,” Neville explained as he leafed through his notes to show Harry the passage he had written.
Nodding his head as he read his friends tidy writing, “Draco let me borrow your cat,” Harry grabbed the offered animal as he cleared the top of his desk and pulled out a strange looking metal tablet.
“Ok step one, something as small as a mouse would never have the mass needed to become what you want, so first thing fall back on transfiguration and make yourself a cat,” Harry pointed at the feline sitting calmly in the center of the table, “What you must remember is that a transfigured object, or in this case an animal only has the mass of its transfigured size for a short time, that is why I taught you all how to transmute items.”
Petting the cat he tapped the top of the still animal with his stick wand and drew it upwards, creating an image of the DNA strand before doing something to the metal tablet. Minerva was intrigued she had never seen magic like this before and quickly glancing around the room she noticed all the other students practicing and not taking notice of what was happening over with Harry’s group.
“As you can see when you compare the DNA strands of the real cat with your transfigure mouse it still is a mouse, what you need is to change its DNA to match a cats DNA for it to be permanent,” Harry was tapping the tablet as he pointed out the differences.
“I understand that, as that is what I am doing when I change the plants into something new down in the greenhouse,” Neville was a little confused wondering where Harry was going with this.
Nodding his head Harry flipped through Neville’s notes, “But you are not changing its mass to any real degree when you do that, from what I have seen so far you are taking a plant that is related to the one you really want and then transmute it, changing its structure into the one you want right?”
Nodding his head Neville thought about what he was being told before it sank in, “I see now, if I want to end up with a cat I need to start with a cat, otherwise if what your cousin told us this summer comes to play, the mass of a mouse on top of the DNA mismatch would cause the transmutation to fail spectacularly, I would get a very dead cat the size of a mouse but with the DNA of a mouse and it would not be useable as it was still a mouse.” He smiled as he drew the same lines Ron did around the cat before tapping it changing it from a black cat into a nice tabby.
Doing that strange movement that Harry had done the Longbottom boy made the same image appear above the cat and she watched as he tapped certain parts of the image and compared it to the tablet before smiling and going through the transmutation motions that he had before this time ending up with a wild looking very fanged cat that looked around and let out a roar startling the class before preparing to pounce at Neville teeth barred to attack. Before she had a chance to pull her wand and stun the beast a red light hit the creature from behind.
“Thanks Draco, this thing is a little more aggressive than the books make it out to be even though it is only a kitten,” Neville thanked the other as he quickly created a very bright and strong cage before levitating the creature into it, “now this should keep it contained until I can harvest some of its undercoat at the height of the new moon. Do you think Hagrid would take care of it if we can make an enclosure big enough for it down by its hut?”
Laughing Harry pointed to the claw marks left in the desk where the creature had prepared to attack, “Its his kind of cuddly misunderstood creature Neville, Woun’nt hurt a fly, mis-unerstood it is.” He imitated Hagrid’s brogue.
He probably would Minerva thought, “Ten point to Gryffindor Mr. Longbottom, I must say this year I am pleased with how well some of you are taking to my craft.” She said as she walked the few steps needed to stand over their heads. Looking at the creature in the cage she shudder slightly, a fierce thing indeed, “I think Hagrid would be more than happy to help you out with taking care of that creature until you can harvest what is needed from it,” pointing to the caged animal, “Why don’t you take the rest of the class to take it down to Hagrid’s hut and together the two of you should be able to come up with a safe secure enclosure,” she stared over her glasses at the last words making her meaning known.
Harry who had jumped slightly at hearing McGonagall’s voice from behind him made eye contact with Deven by the door and pointed his finger at Neville who was picking up the cage and making ready to leave, clearly telling the other he was to be escorted.
Deven who had seen the commands from his majesty stuck his head out of the door and told one of the others that and escort was needed.
Turning around at the sounds of things being slammed behind her Minerva saw Miss Granger slamming her things into her bag and stand to leave the room, “Miss Granger meet me in my office directly after supper,” she told the retreating girl clearly.
Turning back to Harry who was watching the actions of his friend very closely, “Mr. Potter meet me near the doors to the great hall in ten minutes and we shall leave to get your school things for the year.” Minerva then went back to encouraging the rest of the students as they attempted the assignment all the while thinking about Miss Grangers behavior and the astonishing things Harry and his friends were accomplishing, she also had to wonder if Miss Granger would ever be brought back into the group.
