Stretching after a nice dreamless sleep for once, but now that he thought about it ever since he had made the journey to this new world he did not seem to have the nightmares he usually did, it must have been a side effect of the changeling potion he had taken.
Walking into his closet Harry decided to dress in his best battle suit. Skin tight Mithral shimmering in a deep forest green with matching shirt. Pulling on the knee length leather reinforced with Mithral boots Harry chose a emerald green cloak and wrapping it around his shoulders secured the fastenings at the shoulders and each breast before moving towards the kitchen and a quick breakfast.
Thinking that he could get the last of the transport pylons placed this morning and then he would stop at the enclave of free house elves before making his way to Diagon ally and Gringotts.
Leaving the kitchen he made his way down the hallway towards what looked like a dead end atrium style room.
Glancing at the runes inlaid in the floor Harry made sure he was standing over a certain set before he pointed his hand at a certain symbol to his right on the floor and let a burst of magic hit it.
As the transport activated taking him down to the hidden cavern vault Harry thought that his magic was becoming so easy to control now, a simple thought of what he wanted done and his magic responded.
Walking over to the many trunks he had yet to empty, Harry chose one that had about ten million galleons in it. Waving his hand at it and thinking about it floating near his side he watched in satisfaction as it did just what he had thought.
Placing his hand on the top of the trunk once he had stepped back to his arrival point Harry tried a new experiment and touching his magical, core thought about the runes activating sending him back up the ground floor of the outpost.
Smiling in satisfaction as his experiment proved that he no longer needed hand movements to direct his magic, only thought Harry made his way back to the hospital section so he could collect the last six pylon arrays.
Standing in the middle of the transport array in the hospital barn with a trunk a hands reach away on each side, Harry slashed his hand down in front of him as he thought about his destination.
Three hours later as the last Array was glowing with activation Harry smiled at a job well done.
Obscuring the top of his ears slightly with a notice me not charm Harry slashed his hand to open a rift to the hidden enclave of house elves.
Walking out of the rift Harry looked around as frightened cries were heard as the house elves saw an intruder appear in their hidden community.
Seeing several scowling house elves running towards him Harry let the charm around his ears drop and stood there in a non threatening manor waiting for the guardians to notice what he was.
Tackling his companion that was in the process of casting a curse at the intruder Blinky prayed to the old ones he was in time to save his brother.
Most of the other house elves had quieted and stopped panicking when they noticed the ears on the intruder.
The ears were pointy and seeing the waist long hair and sharp angular features of the intruders face and the deep shinning emerald green eyes dropped down to one knee as they recognized one of the High Ones.
Tinky was mad and came up fighting as he yelled at his brother. “Why is you stopping Tinky from hexing intruder.”
Pulling his brother back down Blinky whispered. “Tinky almost cursed a High One, Blinky did not want to loose his brother.”
Tinky snapped his head around towards the intruder and started to shake in fear as he noticed that his brother was right. Standing before them was one of the High Ones of legend.
Tinky prostrated himself fully on the ground wailing. “Please don’t kills Tinky. Tinky did not mean to attack High One.”
Trying to smile in a reassuring way Harry stepped forward and knelt down in front of the trembling house elf.
Gently raising the trembling house elf up off the ground so he could look him in the eyes Harry calmly and as gently as possible said.” It is alright, you did not do anything wrong little one. You wanted to protect your home from what you thought was a threat. That is a good thing.”
Hugging the crying and hiccupping house elf to his breast Harry stood up as he cradled the young elf.
“Shh, little one it is going to be alright.” Harry crooned softly to the awe filled stares of the rest of the House elves kneeling around him.
Smiling down at the house elves brother Harry caressed the elves face in his arms as he softly told him. “Sleep little one, sleep.” Reinforcing it with his magic.
Harry walked over to a small bed he had conjured with a though and placed the now sleeping house elf on it and pulled up a light weight cover, tucking him in.
Stepping back a few steps Harry conjured a comfortable chair to sit in. “Please stand up, there is no need to kneel to me, I am nothing special.”
Blinky looked around at the others as he slowly stood up afraid that he was not showing respect and would be struck down.
The rest of the house elves seeing that Blinky was not struck down slowly got to their feet just as the village elders ran into the clearing.
Yelling loudly at the elves standing around their visitor, “Why is you standing? Showing no respect like this to the High One.” The oldest of the Elders cried out in dismay.
Harry was really starting to become uncomfortable with all the bowing and scraping all the magical creatures he had met so far seemed to be doing.
Sighing Harry gently interrupted the old house elves tirade. “Please, it makes me very uncomfortable when people drop to their knees when they see me. It is bad enough that every being that takes one look at me bows in respect without you lot dropping to the floor.”
Stopping in mid yell hearing the words of the High One, Eldest slowly turned and took the stick from his belt and started to hit himself over the head muttering. “Must punish self for disrespecting the wishes of High One.”
Seeing what the old elf was about to do Harry sent out a surge of magic freezing the old elf before the stick hit his head.
“Stop, you must never punish yourself. Especially for something not in your control.” Harry said fiercely as he caused the stick to turn to dust with a thought.
Elder cringed when his body froze fearing that this was the end.
After hearing the words spoken to him he relaxed slightly but to his shock his stick turned to dust as he was released.
Bowing so deep that his nose was almost touching the ground, Eldest asked. “What can the house elves be doing for the High One?”
Even after all the years of dealing with the hyperactive Dobby, Harry was saddened by the subservience of the proud creatures in front of him.
“Please rise, meet me face to face as the proud person I know you are.” Harry pleaded.
Not believing what he was hearing Eldest slowly brought the top half of his body to a standing up position fearing it was a trick, once he was standing fully once more he looked up to see the gentle smile on the High Ones face.
Relaxing when he saw the gentleness of the High One in front Eldest asked again. “What may the people do for the High One?”
Harry thought back to the book of names he had read a year or so ago as he was fleshing out his plans after deciding on taking the changeling potion, knowing he could not take a human name or even translate his name in case someone could speak Elven and realized he was a Potter.
Smiling at the name he had chosen as the one that most described what he was he spoke. “Please, call me by my name. I am known as Mytimah Na Arkenea’ghymn.”
Seeing how the house elves looked confused as they tried to pronounce his name Harry smirked. If the house elves had trouble so would anyone else he thought, that should ensure his identity stayed shrouded in mystery.
Even if someone did understand enough high Elven to translate his name all they would be able to find out is that he was named, Emerald Eyed Mage Ancient Mage of the Forgotten Way, since Elven names were descriptions.
Chuckling Harry told them. “If it is easier for you call me Emerald Eyes.”
Nodding his head Eldest said in reverence. “High One Emerald Eyes honors us.”
Holding in a groan at he how stubborn house elves were in this universe too, Harry explained the reason for his visit. “I am opening my home up, so it can once again be a Sanctuary for those needing healing and a safe home.”
“I stopped here today to see if I could HIRE some of the free elves to help out with the healing and housekeeping duties that is sure to increase beyond my ability to handle.” Harry told them.
Excited several of the elves started to bounce up and down in place as eldest slowly asked. “You is looking for free house elves to help you heal and take care of high Ones home.”
“Such honor you is bringing us.” Eldest squeaked out.
Once he stood up the chair he was sitting in dissolved into silver sparkles that fell to the ground like a gentle rain.
Pulling out the last array out of the invisible trunk floating near him Harry walked a few meters away from the group of house elves and placed it on the ground.
Hand glowing with raw magic Harry placed his hand on each of the stone pylons causing it to grow and stepped back as it started to slowly expand back to its original size.
Once full size once again the array blinked once and settled down to a soft glow showing that it was working properly.
Pointing to the array Harry told them as he prepared to leave. “Remember those that come work for me will be paid and have set hours, I do not want slaves like the wizards do. I want the help of free people.”
“Step inside the circle and call out Sanctuary to be transported to my home, this is the only way one can get there.” Harry told them before slashing his hand down opening another rift and walking through it.
Glad that no one was in the short ally behind the Leaky Cauldron that was the entry to Diagon Ally Harry recast the notice me not charm on his ears and touched the bricks in order to open the archway.
Walking down the street with his now visible trunks following next to him Harry scanned from side to side as he took in the slight changes to the ally.
Walking up the steps that would lead to the Gringotts lobby Harry ignored the self-casting spell woven into the door and stepped inside.
Ignoring the rude stares by those waiting in line Harry stood there waiting until a teller was free so he could get his business over with and go back home and rest.
Finally a teller near the end had his customer walk away and look up.
Walking up to the surly Goblin Harry bowed his head ever so slightly and told him. “Greetings, if you could direct me to a free account manager I would like to open a high security vault and make a rather large deposit.”
Sneering at the youngster in front of him Toothrock spat out. with some venom. “Leave you foolish boy, come back with your parents to open an account properly. You waste my time.”
Jumping off the stool the Goblin huffed his way out of the lobby.
Holding onto his temper with as much control as he could, Harry thought that in this world the Goblins were just as hateful and bigoted of wizards as in his.
Not about to be turned down Harry noticed a goblin that mirrored one he knew back in his world. Walking over to the young Goblin standing near the entrance the cart tunnels Harry spoke up coldly.
“Griphook this is your one and only chance of saving the Goblin Nation the embarrassment that is about to befall you before I walk out of here and go directly to the press and announce that my money is not only not good enough to be placed in this bank according to your people but is more than likely not safe either.”
Turning towards the human that knew his name even though this was his first day as a cart operator Griphook raised an eyebrow as a question at the young boy in front of him.
Seeing he had the young Goblins attention Harry told him. “I am in need of an account manager to open a vault and make a deposit, this is the last time I will ask before carrying through on my promise.”
Watchblock who was closest to the two overheard the threat and knowing that Toothrock had indeed insulted the young human and seeing how innocent he looked knew that the ministry and news reporters would have a field day with his story interrupted before the young one could answer.
“Griphook take the young master to my office I shall join you there in a moment.” Watchblock ordered.
As Griphook escorted the youngster down the tunnel Watchblock finished up the transaction with the human in front of him and placed a closed sign on his desk.
Penning a quick note to the bank manager on the threat the youngster had just uttered because of Toothrock’s actions and that he would be taking the youngster to his office, he placed the finished note into the urgent box and watched in satisfaction as it disappeared.
Jumping off his stool and grumbled about fools as he made his way back to the tunnel and his office.
Telling Griphook to return to his post as he passed him, Watchblock opened the door to his office and made his way to the other side of his desk.
Sitting down he looked the youngster over closely, something seemed to be off with the boy. Noticing the charm around the boys ears he disregarded it as not worthy of his attention.
“Gringotts bylaws along with the treaty with the ministry of magic requires permission of your parents before any transaction takes place, that includes opening up new vaults.” Watchblock slowly told the boy.
Smirking Harry replied. “Then it is a good thing I am a lot older than I look.” As he pulled the trunk in front of him and opened the lid, showing the Goblin how full it was.
Looking at the large amount of gold in the trunk in front of him Watchblock decided to humor the human boy and pulled some forms out of the drawer and started to fill them out.
“Name on the account?” Watchblock asked.
Smirking at the reaction he was about to get Harry replied. “Mytimah Na Arkenea’ghymn.”
Pushing down on the quill so hard that it broke in two hearing the name Watchblock snapped his head up and looked at the youth sitting in front of him.
With a trembling hand Watchblock pulled anew quill out of the drawer and started to fill in the information again.
Hand still trembling Watchblock stuttered out his next question. “Amount of deposit?”
Enjoying the Goblins unease and fear way to much Harry replied. “Ten million galleons or so.”
A snapping sound could be heard as Watchblock broke another quill in shock at the boys answer.
Looking down at the form on the desk in front of him the only thing going through his mind was he was thankful he had not ruined another sheet, he did not think he could stand starting over again.
Gulping in a nervous panic Watchblock stared in fear at he boy in front of him.
Harry sensing several Goblins approaching was not surprised to see the old goblin dresses regally walk around the desk while several burly looking Goblins took up station around the room weapons drawn.
Taking in the sight of one of his more experienced account managers trembling in front of the young boy and the surprisingly full trunk of gold in front of the desk looked between the smirking human and the partially filled out form on the desk.
Paling in shock as he read the name filled out in the account holder box Glathrock snapped his head up towards the boy sitting in front of them.
“Who are you, that you would use a name like this?” Glathrock demanded trying not to shake in fear.
I am enjoying this way too much Harry thought, even though it feels good to get a slight revenge on the Goblins for the way they had treated him in his world he really needed to get on with his day.
Canceling the charm around his ears Harry’s smile was one that promised pain and retribution. “You have my name and you know what I am, so the question is do I walk out of here with my gold to hand it over to a muggle bank or do we finish this so I can be about my business Horde Leader.”
Watchblock could not take it any more as the most ancient creature of nightmares revealed itself in his office. Legend had it that long ago the Goblin people went to war against the ones they felt slighted them, as soon as the declaration was made every single Goblin warrior fell to the ground dead and a single figure appeared in the village, a figure that had ears just like this one, and told them to raise arms against them meant death.
Watchblock keened loudly as he fell off the stool in a dead faint.
Glathrock started to hyperventilate in fear as he truly saw the High One in front of him.
Shaking his head in regret Harry closed the lid of the trunk and willed it to levitate.
Standing up he ignored the security Goblins and started to walk out the door.
“If the sight of me instills so much fear in your people we will never be able to work together.” Harry said sadly, regretting a little bit how he played with the emotions of the Goblins out of a need for revenge for something that happened in another world.
Walking down the corridor Harry reapplied the charm hiding his ears as he grew nearer to the lobby.
Maybe it is for the best Harry thought, I can always set up a small room off the kitchen where the house elves can just grab as much gold as they need to buy the supplies needed to keep Sanctuary functioning.
Startled out of his thoughts as he entered the busy lobby by the call he had set up to notify him of one being injured and transported to the hospital barn, Harry growled out rudely to one of the adults that had gotten to close to him and slashed his hand down opening a rift which he quickly walked through.
Leaving chaos behind him as alarms started to ring out and wizards started to panic.
Walking the few steps to the injured Sphinx Harry left the trunk waiting with a though as he pointed his hand at the injured creature before him and started to scan it for injuries.
Hearing a couple of pops that sounded like house elf appearing Harry was pleased to see two house elves bringing in bandages and potion supplies as they started forward to help treat the injured sphinx.
Levitating the injured Sphinx so that its injuries would be more accessible for treatment Harry started using his magic to heal the internal injuries as the house elf that seemed to be the leader of the two started using its own brand of magic to heal the sphinx.
Having stopped the internal bleeding and cleared the lungs of blood Harry fused the broken ribs temporarily as he righted the male sphinx so he would breath easier.
Selecting one of the universal Skele-Gro potions from the littlest elves hands Harry gently opened the Sphinx’s mouth and massaged his neck so he would swallow the potion.
Absent mindedly banishing the empty vial back to his potion workroom Harry performed another scan and saw that the sphinx was out of danger.
Seeing that the house elf was finished also Harry laid a hand gently on his floating patient and pulled him towards one of the open stalls that had several bales of straw along one wall.
Arranging the bales of straw to support the unconscious sphinx Harry used his magic to gently set him down so that he would not put pressure on his already weak ribs.
“Thank you for your speedy help.” Harry told the two house elves that followed him out of the stall.
“Isty is pleased that High One thinks Isty does good job.” The house elf beamed in pride as its companion bounced in delight.
Harry had to roll the answer around in his mind for a moment to make sense of what he had been told.
Priority one, find a way to educate the house elves so that their speech pattern improves, Harry made a mental note for himself.
The house elf interrupted his thoughts with, “This is Misty, I is teaching Misty duties of healer.”
“Welcome both of you to Sanctuary. You should be able to handle the patient from here on by yourselves, but call me if you need help.” Harry told the two beaming elves as he made his way towards the main section of the outpost.
Several steps later Harry remembered the trunk he had left floating near the transport circle and willed it to follow him.
Walking into the kitchen Harry was surprised when another house elf popped into the room and asked. “Is Sir Emerald Eyes be wanting lunch?”
.
Telling himself that he was the one that asked the free house elves for help and invited them into his home Harry replied as he opened the door of one of the empty pantries. “That would be nice, thank you.”
Pulling the trunk into the pantry and setting it on the floor Harry opened the lid and spelled it to stay open and summoned several leather money sacks hanging them on the hooks next to the trunk.
There that should work Harry thought as he was interrupted by the house elf again as she told him lunch was ready.
Stopping the elf from leaving Harry told her. “See this chest full of Galleons?”
Waiting for the house elf to nod her head, as her eyes widened in shock at the amount of gold in the chest.
“This is to buy anything Sanctuary needs. Anything from food to medicines or supplies will come out of this chest.” Harry told her.
Moving over to the table he let his sense roam around the outpost and to his shock it looked like all the free elves had relocated to Sanctuary.
Seeing fresh bread next to a large steaming bowl of stew Harry thanked the little house elf much to her embarrassment.
Catching out of the corner of his eye the house elf called Eldest Harry motioned for him to sit across from him at the table.
“Would you like a bowl of stew, it is quite good?” Harry offered the shocked elder.
Shaking his head almost violently no, the thought of being invited to sit and eat with one of the High Ones was a little too much for him to handle.
Waiting patiently for Emerald Eyes to finish his lunch eldest gingerly sat down across from him most uncomfortable to be sitting in his presence.
Seeing at how nervous the old house elf was Harry told him gently. “Eldest there is nothing to be frightened about, I am not going to be mad or yell at you.”
Finishing his bowl of stew and the bread, but still slightly hungry Harry looked over towards the hearth to see if the post was still on.
Seeing that it was and that it was still somewhat on the full side Harry picked up his bowl and started towards the pot hanging in the hearth only to be stopped by the same house elf that asked if he was hungry earlier.
“Sir Emerald Eyes is not to be doing Trisky’s job, if Sir wants more Sir only needs to ask Trisky.” The house elf scolded.
Grinning sheepishly Harry told her. “Thank you Trisky, you do know I am not one of those lazy wizards don’t you?”
Placing the filled bowl back on the table in front of Harry Trisky scolded him. “Sir Emerald Eyes has much too many important things to be doing than fixing his food.”
Placing a sad look on his face Harry told her. “Trisky, I like to cook it relaxes me.”
Turning around and scowling at Harry she placed her hands on her hips and sighed in defeat. ‘Sir Emerald Eyes may fix Sunday lunch.”
Than shaking her finger at him she told him before walking away. “But Trisky only letting Sir fix lunch.”
Laughing at the antics of the female house elf Harry dug into the second helping as he watched Eldest eyes try to pop out of his head in shock.
Pausing between bites Harry asked. “Eldest did your whole village come to Sanctuary?”
Going from shocked to slightly fearful Eldest nodded his head not wanting to reply in case they were thrown out.
Sighing silently at the fearful attitude of the elder house elf in front of him Harry thought about where he could set their village up at.
Finishing his stew Harry sat there for a moment longer lost in thought, until he remembered the project he had started several years ago as he was learning green magic in an attempt to grow shelters for his friends hidden from prying eyes.
Yes they would be perfect, especially with the amount of magic the house elves gave off strengthening the trees.
“Eldest I would like to show you several things, would you walk with me?” Harry asked.
Jumping down off the chair Eldest nodded his head still not trusting that he would say the wrong thing.
Escorting him over to the pantry Harry showed him the trunk full of gold. “This is a small fraction of the wealth stored here at the outpost. Please let your people know that any purchases that needs to be made this is where they should get the money to do so.”
Finding his voice eldest said softly. “Yes High One we wills be very careful spending your gold.”
Sighing Harry tried a different way. “Eldest even if you could spend all the gold in this chest, you still could not spend all the gold in my vaults even as long lived as I will be.”
Eyes bugging out in surprise as he looked between the sincere expression on Harry’s face and the large amount of gold in front of him Eldest nodded his head in understanding.
Escorting the old house elf out the kitchen door into the side garden Harry started walking across the glade towards the forest.
Seeing several groups of house elves setting up what looked like temporary tents amongst the tree’s Harry called out. “Hold on there, if you all would follow me I will show you a better place to set up your homes.”
Hoping that he had pitched the request in a way that the elves would not fear where they were going or think they were being kicked out Harry led the group of several hundred elves to a grove of large house trees he had planted years ago and aged during one of the heavier storms that year.
Placing his hand on the knot on the trunk of the closest tree as the house elves gathered around him with their meager belongings Harry started his explanation. “These trees are called house trees. “
“These trees have many different levels and rooms that form as the tree grows. To open the door you place your hand on the knot next to the small hole in the trunk and the door will open for you..
There are stairs running around the inside and off of the stairs are different doors leading to small apartments and rooms inside the center of the tree.” Harry told them.
“I want you to make your homes inside here, you will be safe from discovery and only the High Elves have the secret of growing these trees, so even if a wizard would find their way here they would never be able to find you.” Harry smiled at them.
One of the braver young house elves poked his head through the door and noticed another door several steps inside the tree. Walking inside he placed his hand on the knot next to the door and was amazed that it opened for him.
Stepping inside he was amazed at the size of the room, not only the size but the windows that could not be seen from outside let in so much light. Exploring further he found several more rooms that would make good bedrooms each having a small window of their own.
Running back outside he squealed in delight. “Elders you must look. The most beautiful homes inside.”
As more and more of the house elves explored the tree and the homes it hid inside several of the female elders came back outside with tears in their eyes saying. “Sir Emerald Eyes is too kind. Sir has given us real homes of our own.”
Motioning for the elders to gather around him Harry knelt down so he could face them eye to eye. “This is now your home. So if you need furniture or anything else to make this place yours let me know. Eldest knows where the gold is kept for anything needing to be bought for Sanctuary. I am ordering you to use it to make these rooms comfortable, as comfortable as if they were mine.”
Seeing how uncomfortable they were with the idea Harry added. “You can pay me back if you wish out of the wages you are being paid.”
“Paid.” One of the elders said in horror.
“Yes paid.” Harry said firmly. “Every free house elf working for me is to be paid twenty five galleons every two weeks.”
Seeing all of them were horror stricken at he thought Harry added. “Anything less would be a slight to the honor of the High Elves.”
Gotcha Harry thought as they changed their mind muttering to themselves that it would not be proper to insult the honor of one of the High Ones.
“I will leave you to settling in then, this grove has twenty of the house trees, let me know if it’s not enough.” Harry told them as he walked away.
