Of course all the part 2 chapters when it gets done will be given their own chapters
have not got much doen this week, becuase of puppy training {missy}, you know its pretty bad when you look forward to going to work so you can get some writing done, and at work there is not a whole lot of time for that either.
Chuckling at the two young men’s faces as the realization hit them, Ar’Ron sat there contemplating the young blond before he looked at his mate, “Harry I need for you to put on your Lord mask for a moment, I need to ask a couple of questions of Lord Black.”
Ar’Ron watched Harry’s face as the mask slipped into place and smiled at Draco in a reassuring way as he saw him go from joyous to concerned in an instant, “Do you want Draco to be schooled to his true potential?”
Not sure where this was going Harry looked at Draco and then back to Ar’Ron, “I do, I wish for him to be allowed to learn as much as he can handle”
“Before I get into the plan I have come up with, as Lord Black I need for you to officially turn control of all matters involving Draco’s schooling to me.” Seeing the extreme confusion on both young men’s faces along with Narcissa’s, Ar’Ron continued his thought and explained what he was going after, “Under the old laws that are now back in effect Dumbledore could try to make trouble come September when school starts up again, Narcissa even though she is Draco’s mother, in the eyes of the law is considered as a teenager now that you dissolved her marriage and welcomed her back into the family.” Ar’Ron saw the realization dawn in Narcissa’s eyes, “Even though you sat her down and told her she is to consider herself an adult and act in her own interests, the old law considers the matter of her son differently.”
“Which in this case works to our advantage as everyone else is used to playing out of the current rulebook, which is no longer valid, while we will play out of the old one, which is now law. The imbeciles will be falling all over themselves trying to find out what is going on.” Ar’Ron laughed, “Also due to the fact you are a Lord you become a legal adult in the Wizarding world, and the fact I declared you a legal adult in the Elven world just adds to the chaos as far as wizards are concerned. The problem that could come up if Dumbledore researches it is this, under the old laws Lords were not recognized while still in school, so under the old laws while a student still in school you cannot be Lord Potter owner of Hogwarts, but would need a guardian. In the old days unless you had a named regent it was the headmaster that filled that, in this case as your soul mate and King I can be regent and make sure your wishes are carried out. And as Lord Black you have the power to appoint a guardian for any of your vassals…” Ar’Ron was interrupted by Harry.
“Because I am still a student as Lord Black I am curtailed, but I can appoint Draco a guardian now and bypass Dumbledore’s attempts of manipulating me through him,” Harry finished as the explanation came home.
Looking at Draco before turning towards his soul mate, Harry told him, “I Lord Black appoint you Ar’Ron of Astarii Draco’s full guardian in all matters involving one Draco Malfoy , ward of the ancient and Noble house of Black.”
“You realize I was only going after rights pertaining to schooling?” Ar’Ron asked him, double checking to make sure harry understood what he had just done.
“I know but as it hit me with what you were trying to do, I thought of a couple instances that it would be better for you to speak up for Draco’s interests instead of Harry Potter the Boy Who Lived schoolyard nemesis to Draco Malfoy.” Harry told him thoughtfully, trying to come up with a way to be out from under Dumbledore’s thumb; Ar’Ron had to have an idea since he only asked for guardianship of Draco.
“True, very true,” Ar’Ron pulled Harry across the foot of the bed into a hug laying a soft kiss on his lips, “now that the spells and enchantments Dumbledore placed on you are gone, you are turning into one fine young man who I love deeply.”
Retuning his attention to Draco, Ar’Ron turned serious, “Draco I want you to know fully what it would mean to have me as your guardian under the old laws. I would, with your wishes taken into consideration, have final say over your schooling. Also you would be an adult at seventeen, but under the old laws the year until your eighteenth birthday is considered an easing in period, so I would still be your guardian until you turn eighteen.”
Looking at Harry smiles of encouragement Draco thought about it, “I guess I understand, I’m all for not being controlled by Dumbledore, and I know I can trust you, along with harry as being the best choice of Guardians.”
“Ok then you will be joining Harry in his summer lessons, you will have lessons in the morning with most afternoons free to work on private study, though you will spend from one to three in the afternoon on Monday and Thursday with the goblin I hire to oversee your estate learning business management.” Ar’Ron smiled as he worked out Draco’s schedule in his mind. “By the end of the summer you should know enough to be able to make informed decisions about your finances that I will either approve or tell you why not and the reasons behind my decision. By the summer between your seventeenth birthday and eighteenth birthday I expect you to be running your estate, with me looking over your shoulder as you make all the decisions.”
Taking in Draco’s soft body, it was toned but not in the best shape it could be, “I also want you to join Harry and I in our morning exorcize program. It will build endurance and you will learn skills in unarmed combat that will amaze you, especially when you start learning to channel your magic through your body to enhance those skills.” Ar’Ron snickered at Draco’s shocked look, “Imagine losing your wand in a fight, right now you would be pretty helpless, but when I am finished with both of you, you will have learned to go ahead and fight hand to hand with your opponent and channel a stunner or more through skin contact with your hands.” Ar’Ron grinned at their looks as he finished his outline of the training he would be putting them through, “Pretty handy if I do say so myself, this is of course subject to change as you gain knowledge in the studies I set for you.”
Changing the subject briefly Ar’Ron asked Draco for his opinion on Malfoy manor, “Draco we will be at Gringotts after lunch to meet with a few people and Severus at 2:00 p.m. I should know more about your finances then but do you wish me to sell off the manor and contents?”
Draco looked over at his mother and saw her nod her head ever so slightly, “I think so, after talking with mother, I think I want a fresh start. Too many bad memories and harsh feelings connected with the Malfoy name, to bad I can’t get rid of being a Malfoy and take a new name, one not tarnished beyond redemption,” Draco sighed in resignation.
Looking at Ar’Ron for support and seeing him nod Harry hesitated before broaching a subject they had been discussing on and off ever since Draco arrived, “Draco there is a way to do what you just wished, a ritual can be performed that would in essence change your magical core aligning it with a new family. THE good thing is that any Malfoy gifts would not be lost as those are genetic, but you would take on some new gifts of the adopting family. In the olden days this was done by the old families to expand magical gifts into their bloodlines, if there were no daughters, sons would be exchanged and the ritual preformed to both thus adopting them and their gifts into the line.”
“Next week sometime we will sit down and talk about when we will do this, but as your Lord I have to tell you I will enjoy welcoming the newest Black to the family.” Harry smiled, “and as a friend I think it is about time you got to live the way you want for a change.”
Standing up Ar’Ron grinned as he pulled Draco off the bed, “Enough of the depressing stuff; how about a tour of your new home, your rooms are next to ours, I think you’ll enjoy them.”
Draco raced out the door into the common room, Harry watched him disappear, chuckling at the antics of the young blond, “Well I guess he told us.”
Following Draco out of the Infirmary they found him to be walking around the large common room looking through each arch he came across so he could see what was on the other side as he passed, stopping in front of the only room that had doors, he slowly opened them and stepped inside.
Following Draco into the Library Harry spoke up, “Two galleons he freaks.”
“You’re on,” Ar’Ron smirked in reply, he felt Draco would freeze instead.
“What are the two of you talking about?” Narcissa asked, confused at the one sided conversation.
“Draco just went into the family library,” Harry told her as they walked into the wing.
Disappointed that Draco was standing at the railing not moving; Harry walked up to him and looked out into the room, “What do you think Draco?” Not hearing a response Harry turned and waved his hand in front of Draco’s face with no response. “Well I was not expecting this.” Harry mumbled.
Deciding the best way to snap Draco back to reality, Harry smirked evilly while focusing his magic in his left hand until it glowed softly, placing his hand on the back of Draco’s exposed neck he whispered, ‘tyr’
Laughing as Draco jumped off the ground with a scream, Ar’Ron whispered to Harry. “Mel’Anin o eisi masol sai kaer si cal os Aelor tarol” [You are starting to get the hang of Elvish casting.]
Walking up to Draco and putting his arm across his shoulder Ar’Ron pointed out the different levels, ignoring the glares Draco was directing towards Harry, “The first two levels have all known tomes on Wizarding magic ever written, the library is spelled to bring a copy here as soon as it is written. It will also magically correct any fallacies in the text by inserting a annotation that points the reader to the correct information. The third level deals with magic from the differing races, with the final three dealing with Elvish magic. For now you can only access the first three levels of the library.” Ar’Ron said as he steered the blond out of the library, “I am sure you will find plenty of time to explore to your hearts content.”
Leading Draco up the stairs into a small common area, “This is the third floor where the family rooms are,” Ar’Ron let him look around for a moment, “Your mother’s rooms are down that hall through the rose arch, first door on the left. Your rooms are down the hall by the waterfall, last door on your right which is across the hall from Harry’s office / study. The door at the end of the hall leads to the set of rooms Harry and I stay in, so you are right next door to us if you need to talk to us about anything.” Pointing to the rest of the halls Ar’Ron told him, “The other three halls lead to empty single bedrooms and are set up for extended family for visits, so only a single room with bed and wardrobe.”
Pointing at the staircase next to the waterfall, “The fourth floor is the administrative section of the palace for the Elven realm, my office is up there. The fifth and sixth floors right now are storage but could be turned into anything needed,” Ar’Ron finished his verbal tour.
Holly popped in before they could go lead Draco to his rooms, bowing she looked at Ar’Ron, “Majesty strange elf showed up at castle. Brings boxes says belongs to Miss and Sir. Holly puts boxes in Miss and Sirs rooms. Strange elf says he belongs here now.”
“Did the strange elf give a name Holly?” Harry was perplexed, he wasn’t expecting any house elves to be bringing over Draco’s and Narcissa’s belongings.
“Calls himself Dinky he does.” Holly answered back smugly.
Narcissa perked up at that, “That would be our house elf Sir” She told them smiling knowing the manor was now sealed tight and Lucius could not enter it.
Looking at Narcissa appraisingly for a few moments Ar’Ron told Holly to bring Dinky to the family dining room, as soon as they had shown Draco his rooms they would be down for lunch.
While Ar’Ron talked with Narcissa and Holly, Harry walked down the hall with Draco, he stopped in front of the door five meters or so from his and Ar’Ron’s bedroom, “This will be your rooms Draco,” Harry smiled as he opened the door, he wanted to get a good look at Draco’s face when he saw the rooms for the first time.
Walking in Draco noticed the nice size sitting area with two doors leading off on either side, a large magical window with window seat opposite of the door they were standing in, the room was a mix of building and forest and larger than his bedroom back at Malfoy manor he had to ask, “Harry as soon as I got out of the infirmary I noticed something, it’s like some jungle has taken over the house, what gives?”
Harry started laughing, “Draco this is the Elven way of living in harmony with nature, I actually like it a lot better than the standard of keeping your living area separate from outside. If you want to change things around, maybe change the plants you can, get with Inky or Thistle to change out the plants to more suit your needs.” Picking one of the red fruits off the vines around the window Harry held it out so Draco could take it, “This is Elven Red fruit, very sweet and refreshing, packs more caffeine in it than five cups of coffee, your morning caffeine fix right next to your bed, how convenient is that.”
“Ar’Ron linked his Palace to the Potter Castle using extremely advanced Elven magic, the family wing is actually in the Elven Palace, which is called Natures Palace. Talk about being safe,” Harry grinned at Draco before pointing out the extra rooms, “That is your den, office and all around study complete with book cases and desk.” Finishing the tour Harry opened the French style doors to the bedroom, “Here is your bedroom and trust me when I say the prefects bathroom leaves much to be desired compared to the one in here, wait until you try out the whirlpool / hot tub, the perfect way to relax stressed tired muscles after a long workout.”
Seeing the look on Draco’s face, Harry noticed he was being overwhelmed, “Let’s go join the others and get something to eat, afterwards you can explore and unpack.”
Draco nodded his head in agreement and started to walk out of the room slightly dazed, glancing back over his shoulder as he left his rooms; it was like having a small apartment inside a large home, and something he had never had before. Meeting up with the others where they left them he walked down the steps and entered the dining room.
As Narcissa sat down she noticed Dinky standing in the corner looking lost and very fearful, frowning in thought, back to when she was growing up and how by example she learned how to deal with house elves, she then thought of the past couple of days and seeing how the house elves were treated here as equals and how they went out of their way to serve and make those they served happy. Such devotion she thought they would even die to protect their masters, no not masters, those they willingly chose to serve, there was a difference. She found to her delight she much preferred the feeling of being chosen as worthy than being a master over another.
“Dinky,” Narcissa smiled as she called out, seeing the little elf jump hearing his name, she lowered her voice after softening it, “I am glad to see you.”
The little house elf was shocked and stepped halfway from where he was standing to his mistress’s side.
Taking another look at how undressed and slavish Dinky looked compared to the proud elves and Impare’ that worked around the home, a uniform change was in order she thought, “My Lord a favor if I may,” Narcissa asked as she looked over at Harry.
Deep in conversation with Ar’Ron and Draco over the pros and cons of fruiting vines in the office, near the bookcases Harry heard Narcissa ask him very formally for a favor. Turning towards where she was sitting he gave her his undivided attention.
Seeing Harry turn towards her she asked, “My Lord if I may, Dinky is my house elf and I am not comfortable with his uniform as it is at present and request permission to change it.”
Harry blinked in surprise, “I need to make sure I know if you really know what you are asking.”
Sitting a little higher in her chair Narcissa replied evenly, “Indeed my Lord, Remus filled me in last night on the history of the Impare’ and even after only a few days I much prefer someone who chooses me versus one who is enslaved to me.”
Ar’Ron had stopped to listen to Narcissa ask her question, and was pleased at her understanding and demeanor, she had taken a large leap forward. Smiling at her he nodded his approval and then went back to the conversation with Draco.
Seeing Ar’Ron smile his nod of approval at her made her feel giddy with delight, like she had confronted the most important test and passed with flying colors.
Harry responded by thinking out loud, “Dobby wears the royal uniform, but in the colors of the house of Potter, so a uniform in the same style but in the house colors of the house of Black would be appropriate I suppose. Get with Remus later for any tips on making the transition; he seems to be making strides with Winky.” Harry became concerned as he noticed someone missing, “Speaking of Remus has anyone seen him since this morning?”
“Now that I think on it, he really should have been gone only a couple of hours at most,” Ar’Ron said with some concern of his own, “If he is not back by the time we get back from Gringotts we shall go after him.”
Looking up at the grandfather clock by the door Harry realized it was time to go, as it was almost 1:00p.m, “Okay I will give him a couple more hours, but after that we go find him.”
“If you two will excuse us, we have a meeting to go to, if you need anything please ask Minky for help. In fact if you have any suggestions for changing your rooms please pass them on to Minky. We should be back in time for supper, if not we will make sure to get a note to you,” Ar’Ron waved as he left the table and joined Harry walking out of the room.
“Draco dear I am going to take Dinky with me to help unpack do you want me to ask Minky to help you?” Narcissa folded her napkin and placed it next to her empty plate.
Draco thought he would like to spend some time alone thinking on the things he and Harry had talked about so he shook his head, “That is alright mother, I think a little mindless work is just what I need right now.”
Stopping at the landing to the steps going down to the castle, Ar’Ron pulled Harry close and kissed him passionately showing him that he loved him with actions. Looking up into the eyes of his soul mate Harry saw the love in them, taking strength from the love offered Harry took a deep breath, “I’m ready.” Together they turned and walked down the stairs and across the transport step; walking down the short hall to the great entry they heard all kinds of commotion.
Walking into the hall they found instead of the controlled chaos of a surprise move of the government, bedlam. Listening to some of the yelling and screaming wizard’s conversations and the sheer pettiness of the complaints Harry grew angry. “Now I know why the Wizarding world is in such dire straits, listen to them,” Harry in anger waved his hand to take in the surroundings of Wizards making fools of themselves.
“You’re right Mel’Anin and I’m going to put a stop to this right now,” Ar’Ron took several steps forward and started to glow as he let his anger pull his magic towards the visible range. Then he started to float several meters off the floor, hair flowing back as if a strong wind was blowing, his eyes beaming deep green, whites no longer visible, all in all the very epitome of pissed off Elven King. “YOU WILL BE SILENT!” Ar’Ron roared out as a bolt of lightening hit the floor in front of him and the resulting thunder knocked most backwards.
Arthur Weasley turned towards the sound of the booming voice, he saw this glowing figure hovering several meters off the floor with a magical aura surrounding him the like he had never seen before. Looking past him he saw Harry Potter standing next to him, seeing his chance to go over and check on the lad Arthur yelled out, “HARRY, OVER HERE.”
Walking quickly towards Harry he stopped when he saw that Harry’s eyes were glowing green, looking up he saw that Harry’s eyes were glowing in anger the same strange way of the floating elf.
“I have met better behaved toddlers than you lot,” Ar’Ron scolded them as he slowly floated down to the ground.
“Who do you think you are, disrupting the Ministry like this, what right do you have to take over control, when the Minister finds out…”
Arthur winced at the rising voice of his estranged third son, Percy. He prayed with all his might that he wouldn’t go home tonight to his wife to explain that their third born had been splattered all over the walls of the castle.
“You want to know by what right I had this done Percy?” Harry asked anger increasing causing him to glow and float several inches off the ground just like Ar’Ron had been.
“Look closely all of you,” Harry snarled out as he held both his hands out so that the five rings were very visible. “Each of these rings proclaims me as Lord of one of the houses of the Council of Twelve, notice that there are FIVE of them, All by myself I can convene the Council not even counting the four others.”
Sneering at Percy Harry continued his angry rant, “And your hero Percy, the man you gave up your family for is sitting in a cell right now awaiting a trial, a trial I might mention he cannot buy is way out of, he will be tried by the Council of Twelve and when found guilty, for indeed he is guilty of the charges, I will take great pleasure watching as his magic is ripped from his very soul, leaving behind an enemy that will no longer be a threat to Wizarding kind.” His rage leaving him he slowly came back to the ground.
Ar’Ron then spoke to the shocked and silent group of department heads, “I picked out your offices and what size they are have no meaning on importance, nor is the location,
All of you better have your act together by Monday morning when the rest of your staff arrives. And I better never hear any of the petty squabbling like I have today.” Ar’Ron pointed to the city guards who had been trying to calm tempers, “You will all line up and follow Alastor to swear an oath of loyalty to the Council. This oath will be by blood and by magic, you will swear by your oath to do everything to nurture the Wizarding world around you. Ar’Ron finished with so much venom he was glowing the same color as the killing curse which scared the bureaucrats to the point some of them wet themselves in fear, “It is time to grow up. 54 million witches and wizards have died in this thousand year squabble between all of you. IT STOPS NOW, you better pray to whatever deity you believe in that Wizarding kind grows up, because if it doesn’t I shall rip the magic out of each and every soul, witch or wizard and start over.”
In the silence that followed Percy made his way over to Harry, stopping less than ammeter away, “Bill and Charlie both warned me that I should not break with the family, Fred and George told me to ignore the goings on and be myself.” He shook his head sadly, “All I could see is how much Dumbledore controlled my parents and used them as pawns in his game of light against dark.”
Percy’s voice carried as he told all of them, “I feared for the Weasley family. I took the easy way out hoping to ensure that at least one Weasley male survived to carry on the family name and traditions. Once I took that path I didn’t know how to go back, every time I thought I was getting a handle on things I ended up being sucked deeper and deeper into the same chaos I loathed, and in turn I added to it to ensure my safety.”
Kneeling down before Harry, head bowed Percy held his wand in both his hands, raising it up to Harry. Percy recited the vow of vassals to their Liege Lord.
“By my blood,” Percy stared at Harry as blood started to drip from his hands and pool magically a foot below his hands in mid air.
“By my Magic,” Magic started glowing in thin ropes out of his wand and joining the pool of blood causing it to glow and pulse.
“I Percy Ignatius Weasley third born son of the line of Weasley,” The light grew stronger.
“Pledge on my very soul,” The pulsing now matched his heartbeat.
“I and all my descendants shall forever serve,” The blood and magic started to spin.
“You and yours LORD POTTER” Percy bowed his head, “Forevermore.”
Feeling the ancient magic gathering Harry had a choice, deny Percy and watch as the magic he called into being lashed back and killed him or accept what was offered giving Percy a second chance.
Hearing the end of the magical vow, feeling the magic gathered, Harry picked up the wand out of Percy’s hand and willed a sharp point to appear at the end, using it he nicked his finger allowing a drop of blood to fall into the pulsing spinning pool.
“SO MOTE IT BE!” The magic spoke as the pool grew to an intense bright white and flew into the chest of Percy who was kneeling head bowed.
Harry tired of the drama, simply told him, “Rise Percy,” holding out Percy’s wand so he could take it back.
Percy stood up and took his wand back and bowed, “I am yours to command my Lord.”
Stepping forward and placing his arm over Harry’s shoulder Ar’Ron pointed to the desk under the Potter crest “Percy it might not look like much, but the person who runs the department of castle information, he and his employees are the gateway to the government and one of the government’s strongest or weakest links.” Waiting until Percy looked over at the desk Ar’Ron told him, “Take up the head of that department Percy, we will speak again later next week.”
Kingsley and Dargoth approached, each gave the pair a slight bow and a my lord and my Prince respectively.
“Seven of the wizards from the list and twenty five Goblins are assembled in the hall of judgment awaiting the chance to give their oath of loyalty,” Kingsley told them, hoping they would take the time to hire and accept the oaths of loyalty so they had help controlling the mob.
“And might I suggest that you do so quickly, we can use all the help we can containing that lot,” Dargoth sneered in disgust at the wizards behind him.
Ar’Ron and Harry looked at each other and back at the crowd, nodding their heads in agreement they followed Kingsley and Dargoth around the wall the Potter Crest was on and into the hall of Judgment. Looking over the wizards as they passed seeing no one he recognized, Harry asked if Tonks was on the list of those to be contacted.
Alastor overhearing Harry’s question thumped over, “As much as I would like to get the lass on the team, she has not done anything or said anything one way or the other which would tell me which side she is on, until she does I can’t take the chance of contacting her.”
Saying it loud enough the others could overhear “Love, remind me when we are at Gringotts to recall Andromeda to the family,” Harry said more for the others to hear than needing reminding.
“All right you lot stand fast,” Alastor yelled to the assembled guards as he pulled his knife from his belt and motioned for them to begin.
Thirty two hands whipped up, thirty two knifes cut palms allowing blood to drip, and thirty two voices rose in unison to give an oath of blood and magic.
“I swear on my blood and my magic to uphold the laws of Toria. I swear to protect the innocents of Toria from darkness and evil By my Blood, by my Magic I vow to follow the Lord of Toria Lord Potter, ruler of Toria my magic is yours to command.”
“By your vow to me, hear my vow. I vow to protect the innocents of Toria, to punish the guilty, and to rule justly as my ancestors did before me,” Harry told them somberly as he accepted their oath.
Ar’Ron standing next to Harry placed his palms flat against each other, as he pulled them apart a glowing orb or magic formed; extending his hands over his head the orb grew quickly to large proportions. “Shi tyraer eir toria kes” Ar’Ron intoned as he threw the ball of magic into the group on newly sworn in guards. Once the glow dimmed enough for every one to see, where once stood thirty two goblins and wizards, now stood thirty two beings clothed in red and gold Elven battle clothes with the Potter crest on the cloaks.
“We really need to get going, it’s almost quarter till 2:00 p.m. I want to be back by 3:00 p.m. and if Remus isn’t back by then…” Harry voice trailed off as he walked out of range heading towards the door.
“Remus is missing?” Kingsley looked surprised, and looked at Ar’Ron for an explanation.
“Maybe, he went off on an errand that should have taken two hours at most, this morning he went to Japan to hire some help for our kitchens, he should have been back by lunch at the latest since he left at seven this morning,” Ar’Ron followed Harry out of the hall.
Dargoth turned towards Kingsley after his majesty left, “We need to find Remus before the Prince gets back, Japan might not survive his anger if he finds Remus injured or worse.”
Kingsley pulled his map out of his pocket and glanced at it, “The international port key station is on the first floor by the painting of the island scene, let’s go.”
Sokurn yelled out at the retreating backs, “What do you want us to do?”
Dargoth replied as he hit the door, “Be prepared for our call, and try to keep that lot of fools under control.”
Severus was slightly nervous as he looked at he doors to Gringotts, he had ten minutes until his appointment with Trazthorn, and in ten minutes he would find out if he had a future or continue a life of servitude. Steeling himself he walked into the bank and joined the shortest line waiting for a free goblin. Watching the person in front of him leave, Severus stepped in front of the now free goblin, “I am Severus Snape I have an appointment with Trazthorn at two.”
The goblin gave him a searching look before nodding, “Indeed, if you will follow me please.” Placing a closed sign on his desk he hopped off his stool, the little goblin then led the potions master through the doorway behind his desk and through the maze of hallways that made the Gringotts office area, twice stepping through silver archways.
Finally the goblin stopped in front of a door and knocked, hearing the gruff ‘come’ in he led the potions master into the rooms and closed the door as he left.
Looking up from his desk, Trazthorn saw the wizard from last night, pointing to the empty seat in front of his desk he watched the man sit in the seat offered to him, face telling him he was on the verge of loosing all hope. “Ah Mr. Snape perfect timing, I have good news for you,” Trazthorn watched closely, seeing the glint of hope firmly start to show behind Snape’s eyes.
“I took the liberty of resetting the wards on your family vault personally, so you must re-key any one back in you want to have access. Also one of my teams that was sent out last night broke through Dumbledore’s wards and un-sealed your manor, the teams also swept the manor for any hidden traps or surprises and removed them.” Trazthorn told him as he slid a small wooden ring box across his desk, “We also placed new wards around your estate, made it unplottable and keyed them to allow only the person wearing the family ring to enter, and you can key others in later at your convenience.”
Opening the box Severus removed the ring and placed it on his index finger; he felt the warmth as the magic accepted him as the rightful heir. Closing his eyes tightly he let several tears of joy fall down his face, “Thank you, however can I repay you for giving me my life back?”
Giving the wizard a few moments Trazthorn replied slowly, “No payment is necessary, his Majesty paid for our service.”
“If you would follow me Lord Potter asked for a moment of your time, as he is in the bank today,” Trazthorn stood up and walked around his desk.
Blinking back to reality Severus rolled over in his mind what he was told, ‘His Majesty paid for… Majesty?’ “Did I hear you correctly? Who is his majesty?” Severus asked as he rushed to catch up with the goblin.
Opening the door to lead the wizard to Lord Potter’s managers office area, Trazthorn told him, “Why Lord Potters soul mate, his Majesty King Ar’Ron of the True Elves.”
A very stunned and shocked potions master walked into the sitting area and stopped in shock hearing that Potter had a true elf as a soul mate.
Walking into the headquarters branch of Gringotts Ar’Ron and Harry were met by several goblin guards manning the doors who quickly opened them so they could enter, walking into the lobby they saw one lone goblin teller behind one of the desks.
Looking up from his paper work, the newly promoted head teller for the headquarters branch noticed two people walking towards him, he jumped off his stool as he recognized them immediately, “My Prince, Majesty, can I be of help to you today? Or are you going to your offices to speak with your managers?” He asked with a bow.
Smirking at the uncomfortable feelings Harry was giving off, Ar’Ron answered for the two of them, “Just popping in to speak with the managers today.”
The little goblin nodded his head and went to the wall behind his desk, using his fingernail he drew a door on the wall, after opening the door he stepped back to allow the two to enter and be on their way.
After a short walk down the hallway they entered the lounge area for the manager’s office that handled Harry’s accounts, opening the door they walked in to see all the goblins working and two unknown goblins, one talking to Griphook and the other talking to Wyrmbane the Hogwarts Manager.
Traxog notice Harry Potter and his Majesty walk into the office, He quickly snapped his head around towards the little table near the conference table to make sure the communication box was not glowing and they had not seen it as they were busy working. Confused Traxog asked, “Lord Potter, Majesty did we forget an appointment? Is something not to your liking?”
Hearing the name of their lord being mentioned, all the goblins froze from what they were doing and looked towards the communication box before looking up towards the door where Harry and Ar’Ron stood.
“No nothing like that, we had to be at the bank on another matter and I wanted to stop by and notify you of some new developments and ask a couple of questions,” Harry walked to the head of the table and sat down.
Griphook spoke up, “How fortuitous that you stopped by, we just finished receiving the reports from the audits you asked for.”
“That was fast.” Ar’Ron looked over to him as he sat down next to Harry.
“The money trail was easy to follow Majesty,” the little goblin in front of Griphook bowed.
Ar’Ron conjured up parchment and ink for eight and placed it on the conference table.
Seeing the ink and parchment appear on the table all the goblins quickly found their seats at the table. Once seated Griphook pointed towards their two guests, “My Prince, we discovered that there indeed was misappropriation of funds from the Malfoy accounts. Quite large sums totaling around five million galleons. Contract penalties being what they are a sum was seized of ten million galleons and deposited back into the Malfoy transition vault due to the seizing and closing of all other vaults.”
Griphook consulted his notes, “We also found by tracing the money trail over the past ten years another ten million galleons in several hidden vaults under other names. Bringing the total up to thirty two million galleons after the liquidation of jewels and such that was in the vaults. If you would sell the manor another two million galleons could be added.”
“And we have found evidence of theft from the school accounts by the current headmaster and going back two previous ones, they must have set it up as a way to get an added bonus. They had padded the books so to say there were an extra fourteen teachers that really do not exist.” Griphook told them, trailing off as he noticed the anger burning in Harry’s eyes.
“That bastard,” Harry hissed through clenched teeth, “we’ll go with the current plan, when asked why the pay has yet to be disbursed make sure the teachers have to come to the bank in person to do paperwork or some other excuse before payments can be made to the individual.”
“I am sure we can come up with some appropriate red tape my Prince,” Griphook sat back feeling the anger roll off of Harry in waves.
“Very thorough, thank you Griphook,” Harry told him as he controlled his anger as he turned to face the Black family manager. “Glathrock if you would, reinstate Narcissa’s monthly allowance and deposit it into a vault under her direct control and next time she is in give her the key and a money pouch please.”
Seeing Glathrock scribbling notes Harry told him, “Oh also Draco, who by the way next week will no longer be a Malfoy, but be welcomed into the family as a Black will need a small investment vault. I want to set him up with a monthly allowance of two thousand five hundred galleons and turn the transition vault over to his guardian. Please note that Ar’Ron has accepted the role of guardian under the old laws for Draco.” Harry stared at him for a moment, waiting until he had caught up with his note taking, “One last thing if you would Glathrock I am thinking of recalling Andromeda Tonks back into the family. If you could meet with Andromeda, her husband and daughter, to feel them out I would appreciate it. If they are willing to rejoin the family, send me a note and tell them I will meet with them on August first, but not before that date.”
Looking over at Traxog Harry was curios, not being around, “Traxog did the transfer of gold go through?”
“Yes my Prince, all accounts were brought up to one hundred thirty million galleons as the starting point,” Traxog reply was smug, and he grinned at the profits and bonuses they would be making.
“Very good, one last question before Ar’Ron’s turn” Harry turned to the goblin he had yet to hear speak, “Wyrmbane, I understand you are one of my salaried employees, and I understand the reasons why, but do you really have enough work to keep you busy just doing the Hogwarts accounts?”
Afraid of loosing his job, hoping he would be kept on at least part time he answered truthfully, “No my Prince I spend around twenty hours a week on the accounts, do you wish me to move my belongs out of the office?” Wyrmbane sounded dejected and was wondering how he was going to support his family now
Seeing the look on the goblins face Harry quickly told him, “Oh no, you misunderstand I just wanted to make sure that you would have time to handle the city accounts also or if I needed to hire more help.”
A smile quickly grew across Wyrmbane’s face as he realized he was not being fired.
“I want you to open a new vault for the city’s expenses and transfer fifty million galleons from the castles vaults into it as a reserve and until the monthly revenue from the city starts coming in,” Harry told the happy goblin as he pulled a sheaf of papers out of his pocket and passing them down the table to Wyrmbane.
“This is a list of all the positions that have been filled or need to be filled along with the salaries they will be paid. I would prefer to have all salaries deposited directly into the employee’s vaults so get with Dargoth and Kingsley if you need the vault numbers to match up with the names.” Harry pointed to the stack, “Your salary sheet is of course on top.”
Wyrmbane’s eyes grew large as he glanced at the figure of sixty galleons a week a vast improvement from the twenty five he was being paid now. He looked further down the column and noticed that thirty galleons a week came out of the city account and thirty out of the Hogwarts one, most reasonable he thought, “Most generous my Lord, thank you.”
“Now the very last thing is,” Harry laughed, “I know I already said that didn’t I, I have decided that as my managers overseeing my wealth that you six may go into the city first and if you wish, and only if you wish, any house that has a glowing green door knob has not been taken, if you should find one you like you may rent it for one galleon a year as part of your yearly bonus of all the hard work you do for me,” Harry smiled at their shocked faces.
Laughing Ar’Ron broke them out of their shocked stupor by saying, “I really have only one thing that needs to be addressed today. The thirty two million galleons belonging to Draco will need a goblin to oversee the account, I would like recommendations from all of you on who to hire. The standard contract of five percent to start off with, now this goblin also needs to be able to tutor Draco two hours, two days a week for the rest of the summer in finances and get him up to speed on how to effectively manage his estates that will be paid for separately. For now his allowance is to go in his new vault and he can spend up to his allowance as his limit. Hopefully his zeal to reclaim the family fortunes will drive him to invest some of his allowance while he learns to manage his estate.”
“I think that is it unless any one has any questions that need answers, we are done,”
Seeing the negative shakes of their heads Harry thanked them once again for their hard work. Standing up to leave Harry and Ar’Ron where somewhat startled by a knock on the door.
Standing in front of the door, Trazthorn noticed the red light only a goblin could see next to the doorframe go off, knowing it was safe to disturb them he knocked on the door before opening it. Ushering Snape into the office He bowed “Majesty, my Prince, Mr. Snape is here as you requested.”
“Thank you Trazthorn,” Ar’Ron told the head curse breaker as he looked over to the door, “I think we’ll talk in the lounge, if you could make sure it stays isolated for a half hour I would appreciate it.” Smiling at the nod Ar’Ron noticed the wariness in the potion masters eyes, “We of course will see to escorting the Professor out, either back to Diagon Alley or with us into the city.”
“As you wish your Majesty,” Trazthorn bowed; facing Snape once more he took out a small box from his pocket and handed it to Severus, “I think you will need this today.”
Severus was very nervous and tried to hide it by watching the goblin leave, deciding he could not hold off any longer he turned to look at Potter. How does one apologize for five years of hell he put the boy through, the only way to survive this was to be brutally honest. “Harry, I do not expect you to forgive me for the five years of hell I put you through, there is no excuse that could be presented that would justify my behavior towards you and any of the other students not in Slytherin.” Running his hands through his hair he looked up, “I will not put up any defense for my actions, as there can be none. The only thing I can do is offer an explanation of the situation I found myself in, I am willing to undergo questioning under veritruserum or even by Legilmency, to prove what I am telling you is the truth. Getting nothing back from either of them Severus sighed, “I assume Lupin informed you of the events of the last order meeting?”
“Yes he did and your story is not out of the realm of what that bastard will do to get his way.” Harry snarled in disgust.
“I have a suggestion that might help,” Ar’Ron explained slowly, breaking into their conversation, “an Elven charm called scanning, that is as close as I can translate it to; this will allow a projection that we can see of your memories dealing with the headmaster. Unlike legitimacy, you will not relive these memories. In fact if you do not wish to see them you can keep your eyes closed, it will not affect the charm at all.”
Pulling a long flat ward crystal out of his belt Ar’Ron said. “Before we begin I would like to exam your dark mark.” Holding the crystal up so Severus could see it clearly. “I want to capture the magical signature of the dark mark, so that we can key the wards to recognize that mark and take appropriate action to any who enter the city or castle, no matter how well it is hidden.”
Thinking it was a small price to pay towards the debt he owed Harry; Severus rolled up his sleeve and held out his marked forearm.
Moving from the couch he was sharing with Harry, Ar’Ron moved a chair over across from the potions master and sat down. Taking the offered arm he examined the mark and when he brushed his finger across it, he felt the tingle of magic. “This will be slightly uncomfortable, more like a slight burning and itching, it should stop before it gets really painful. Try to keep from moving as the crystal captures the marks signature,” Ar’Ron told the man as he placed the curved back of the crystal over the mark and flat against the skin.
While slightly surprised that the cold crystal caused such a flare of burning, Severus fell back onto his training in controlling pain, years of punishment as a death eater fine tuning his control. Severus watched with morbid fascination as the crystal started to pulse an eerie black color, after several minutes of burning the itching started and as he watched the crystal the dark mark slowly started to take on definition inside the crystal, the clearer and more defined the mark became in the crystal the more the itching intensified. Before the itching could develop into excruciating pain it stopped, blinking back pain Severus looked down at the crystal to see it had turned dark and had a perfect impression in light green of the dark mark.
Removing the crystal from Severus’s arm Ar’Ron examined the now unmarked skin. With a nod of his head he placed the crystal back into one of the long cases attached to his belt, “Sorry for more discomfort then I told you it was going to be, several tracking and monitoring charms had to be destroyed before I could start to capture the magical signature.”
“It is a good thing then that Voldemort is in a coma.” Harry looked at Ar’Ron from his seat on the couch.
Snapping his head up Severus hissed in surprise, “How do you know about the dark lord being in a coma?”
Looking Severus directly in the eye and with hardness in his voice Ar’Ron’s turned green with power, “Easy, I am the one that caused it, he should not have tried to invade Mel’Anin’s mind while I was breaking the link.”
So many things have changed most of them for the better as far as he was concerned; Severus started to roll the sleeve of his shirt down and froze hearing the explanation being told he vaguely he heard Ar’Ron say that the charms were not placed on him by Voldemort but by Albus. Too many shocks, to fast his vision started to darken and he passed out.
Walking back over and sitting down next to Harry, Ar’Ron commented, “I think your potions master is carrying way to much around, the stress he is under must be incredible.”
Snuggling up and letting his hands roam briefly Harry giggled, “I agree, he needs to get laid.”
Ar’Ron turned his head towards Harry with a shocked expression that he would even say something like that.
Harry took advantage and placed a well timed kiss.
“This is not going to be fun. It might be better to see his memories while he is out,” Ar’Ron grimaced.
Throwing his right arm out, pointing his hand at Severus he incanted ‘show me’
They sat there and watched to their horror as Snape’s life played out in front of them.
From the fights with his father over the refusal of taking the mark.
Dumbledore’ sealing him out of his house and away from his money after the death of his father.
Dumbledore’s bargaining Severus’s help for his manor back.
Promise after promise made without intent for them to be kept.
Then the fateful meeting where he was told to alienate Harry from the rest of the class.
All the times he was ordered to punish the other houses to keep the rivalry going
Then the order to teach Harry Occlumency, but in reality to search his mind to find out what he was thinking and possible ways to control him.
And then Albus’s order telling Snape to weaken Harry’s defenses and encourage the link to grow between Voldemort and Harry, and his decision to do his best to anger the young man and drive him away so he did not have to follow through with the order.
As the last image faded from sight Severus woke up. Sitting up in the chair properly he saw the tail end of the projection of his memory before it faded out.
Seeing the potions master was awake and functioning more or less, “I decided it might be better if we watched your memories while you were on vacation from reality. I want to assure you we only viewed those memories that dealt with Harry or the headmaster,” Ar’Ron told the man as he watched him carefully.
“We had planned to capture a death eater and capture the magical signature of the dark mark, if the death eater had been coerced into accepting the mark, he would have gotten a second chance, if not he would not have woken up. As you have seen capturing the mark removes it from the individual, I was not going to allow an unmarked death eater to return to Voldemort so he could be used against us,” Harry told him sourly.
“You’ve changed,” Severus examined Harry critically, “you have cunning and planning worthy of a Slytherin, but also a new harshness about you.”
“Yes well after my magic was unblocked and the spells Dumbledore placed on me to control and confuse me were broken, this is what you get,” Harry responded glibly.
“What now?” Severus looked back and forth between the two of them, wondering if he was about to be trading masters.
“That is up to you now,” Harry answered with a shrug, “You have a fresh start, freedom you’ve not had a chance at before.” Changing the subject he asked, “What do you know of Toria?”
“A legend passed down through my family; supposedly the Snape’s have a nice house in the city, located on a corner near a beautiful park. Legend has it that the city was lost, that is when my family bought and moved into our current manor,” Severus replied wondering what this legend had to do with anything.
“Not lost, just hidden,” Harry said softly watching the potion master carefully.
That statement caught his attention. Starring at Harry intently Severus thought over Harry’s words very carefully.
Ar’Ron pointed to the box Trazthorn left, “Severus open the box.”
Severus looked at the box for a moment as he glanced back up at Ar’Ron, leaning over slightly he picked up the box off the table, opening the box with some hesitation, and he saw a small globe nestled inside. The red globe was blinking, staring at the small orb he did not know what to think.
“Place your hand on it Professor, claim your ancestral home,” Harry told him gently.
“Wha…How?” Severus asked looking intently at Harry.
“Touch the orb Professor.” Harry told him firmly.
Placing the orb in his hand, Severus stared in awe as information flowed from the orb into his mind. Reverently Severus stared at the now solid red orb, “I know where my house is, the name of the street and where it is in relation to the shopping district. How is this possible?”
Harry leaned forward like he was about to tell the best kept secret. Severus seeing Harry lean forward, also leaned forward to better hear the answer, and just stared when he heard Harry say, “Magic.”
Smirking Harry leaned back waiting for it to sink in, any moment now.
Snapping back into his chair Severus looked at Harry like he had lost his mind.
Ar’Ron and Harry shared a laugh and to Harry’s surprise Severus joined in.
Standing up Ar’Ron said. “Enough teasing the man, Mel’Anin Jhaer mi ais shi tal shael cos. [Lets see if we can break him.]”
“Follow us,” Harry stood up grinning as he started to follow Ar’Ron out of the lounge down the short hallway.
Following the two down the hall warily, Severus found himself in a large lobby, slightly more ornate than the lobby at Diagon Ally he had entered a few short hours ago. “Harry, where are we?” Severus’s voice echoed in the mostly empty lobby.
“Gringotts, headquarters branch,” Harry informed him glancing back over his shoulder from the spot next to the counter where he was talking with the head teller.
Walking over to the outer doors Ar’Ron opened them and motioned for Severus to come over. Once he had stepped outside the bank onto the landing Severus noticed that they were not in Diagon Ally. The street looked familiar, but he knew without a shadow of a doubt he had never been here before.
“Welcome to Commerce Street, the business sector for the city of Toria.” Harry smiled as he came up behind the potion master silently.
Looking at Harry and seeing he was being serious, Severus looked at the empty storefronts and back at Harry several times, and then took off running down the steps and down the block, turning down the first side street he was soon out of sight.
Looking at Ar’Ron Harry whispered, “Bloody Hell,” before they both took off after where the potions master had disappeared, they found him several streets over standing in front of a large house that was on a corner overlooking a park with a lake. Slowing to a walk they stopped near the potions master to see he was staring at the house with tears running down his face while he whispered, “Its real.” over and over.
Putting his hand on Severus’s shoulder Ar’Ron gently steered him to the front door of the house, “Let’s go inside your home.” Leading the distraught potions master into the house, they settled him into the sitting room.
Severus looked around at the elegantly furnished room, taking it all in. After thanking Harry once again, he told them he was going to spend the night and explore.
“Ok if you are sure you are going to be alright, I’ll send Holly over later with dinner and breakfast at half past eight, but I expect you at the castle for lunch,” Ar’Ron told the potion master in a stern no nonsense voice.
“Thank you,” Severus told them and got up to escort them to the front door.
Harry and Ar’Ron started back towards the castle walking hand in hand, “I hope he finally can put to rest some of his demons,” Ar’Ron told Harry as they walked up the path.
Kingsley took the port key that they had procured from the international port key authority, looking down at his partner, “I’ll handle shields and you do offense if it comes to it, you have had more experience with the runic blocks than I have.”
“Plus I have the added advantage height wise, of being below where the first spells will be cast,” Dargoth agreed with his new partner, he liked the way Kingsley thought.
Holding the port key hoop down at his side, within easy reach of the goblin Kingsley prepared to grab his wand, “On three…One…Two…Three…Activate.”
The instant gut wrenching feeling of behind the navel tugging of port key travel dropped the two of them in the international arrivals in Japan. Channeling magic to charge the runic shield wall Kingsley also drew his wand, next to him Dargoth pulled out a prison bubble and a stunner and charged both with magic.
The Aurors on duty heard the sound of people port keying in the international arrivals room, middle of the night and not expecting anyone else they drew their wands as they approached the door warily. Opening the doors they saw a wizard and a goblin dressed in funny red and gold uniforms with cloaks attached. The wizard had his wand drawn but not pointed and they both had strange little blocks that were glowing with magic.
The lead Auror knew some English stepped forward slowly making sure his wand never pointed towards the strange duo, “Identify self please.”
“Kingsley Shacklebolt, Guard Commander of the Torian Guard, we are here looking for Remus Lupin who is four hours past when he was expected to be back from your country.”
“Dargoth, Guard Commander of the Torian Guard, I am also here looking for Remus Lupin; as the Prince is worried and when matters of state let him in around an hour’s time he plans to come here and deal with those causing the delay personally.” Dargoth was assessing the situation preparing to drop to his knees as he threw the blocks if necessary.
Remus who was on his way back to the port key room escorted by the Japanese Minister of magic heard Kingsley and Dargoth introduce themselves and state their purpose, he quickly turned to the Minister with a bow he smiled, “Minister I thank you for our time together, but as you can hear it seems that I am overdue and a search party has been sent looking for me, I look forward to seeing you on the first of August.”
“As do I Remus-san, pleasant journey,” The Minister replied just as respectfully as he bowed.
Remus walked through the door to find Kingsley and Dargoth looking at him searchingly, as if to check to make sure he was unharmed. “Did Harry send you after me, I lost track of time,” Remus said sheepishly.
“Not quite,” Kingsley told him slowly as he stood, “Harry made mention you were past due, we decided to find out what held you up before he finished up at the bank and came looking for you himself. “
Dargoth shivered, “We felt it better if we came first, instead of a easily pissed off Prince, he lost his temper once already today, scary even by goblin standards.”
“Do I want to know?” Remus looked at Dargoth questioningly, “What do you mean scary, I have seen Harry loose his temper, things tend to get broken but that is usually it.”
“Not like this you haven’t Remus,” Kingsley told him shivering as he remembered, “Eyes glowing green, the whites disappearing entirely, magical energy blowing around him like a wind, Avada Kedavra colored lightening dancing across his skin, all the while he is floating a meter off the floor.”
Remus just stood there looking at Kingsley like he had two heads, He knew Ar’Ron had told him that true elves where slow to anger, but when they did mountains trembled and islands rose or sank, he thought he was exaggerating, but with this new information he was not so sure. Facing his travel companion Remus told the Impare’, “Thorny please take the new elves to the palace and have them wait in the family wing’s common room.” Watching him pop out he glanced back at Kingsley before looking at Dobby, “Dobby please take Chan-san’s belongings to Potter Castle, His quarters are those above the kitchen wing, just set the stuff in the common area until he chooses his rooms.”
Remus then turned towards the two Torian guards, “Lets get out of here; I don’t want to take a chance of missing Harry so I can find out what in the name of Merlin is going on, Chan-son if you would join us and take the port key hoop, we can leave,”
