Sidhe Rising NaNo 2007

Well my fingers are cramping from the pace my mind has been traveling at not sure if that is a good thing or not :)

Poor Albus his plans to like all best laid plans have not survived the first test.

I am having trouble writing anything good about taht escuse my language (bint) called Hermione I never did like her character adn I think i might have to kill her off, or maybe just back burner her so she can be turned inot the evil know it all control freak, my mind has not thought about it much I guess

now without further chapter 09

Albus sat back in his chair eyes closed as he pondered the enigma of Harry Potter, the boy had come back from the third task changed and he was not sure how that would work out with how he had planned the boy’s life out for him. He was more self assured and so quick to anger, of course knowing of the probable connection between Harry and Voldemort through the curse scar he received that fateful night it was to be expected that it would act as a conduit when the dark lord recovered his body.

Sighing in frustration when he had tried to get details out of the boy he was surprisingly close mouthed, the only thing he knew for sure is that whatever ritual used to give the dark lord a new body involved using something of Harry as an ingredient, and even that little part was only inferred as the boy refused to divulge what had happened to him. Not only that he avoided all attempts to make eye contact so he could skim the information of his surface thoughts, it was so infuriating.

Reports of young Harry being by several different people aboard the express reached his ears this morning in response to his inquiry so he knew he had left the area, but the question remained of what Harry did in those three hours he had disappeared, so far Hagrid had not come upon nay trace of the boy in the Forbidden Forest and he had even gone so far to double check his detection wards around Myrtle’s bathroom to confirm the had not been breached. The most disquieting thing is how he seemed to avoid all his friends that morning and during the trip back.

Picking up his quill to once more write to Molly asking her find out everything young Ronald or Ginerva knew about the events leading up to the last task and anything else they thought would be a help, he would have written to Miss Granger but he had already heard of that altercation from Minerva this morning, she was beside herself with fury thinking that her female lions had such loose morals. Placing the tip of his quill as he wrote the next line of his missive a scream erupted from his fireplace startling him enough to push so hard on the quill it snapped in two.

Arabella her head barely becoming still in the fireplace as the floo connection snapped into existence screamed out “THE BOY NEVER MADE IT HOME…Albus you old mother goat fucker get your arse over here now,” as the connection was broken.

Forcibly throwing himself back in his chair from being startled Albus twirled quicker than one would think him able due to his age and scanned the trinkets behind his desk, picking up the one that showed the status of the blood wards around Harry’s home he sighed in relief that they were still up before the statue exploded in his hand. “Fawkes,” Albus screeched in terror towards his sleeping familiar as he rushed around the desk to the now hovering agitated Phoenix, “I need to go to Harry’s house right away the wards are down,” he requested, no more like ordered to the phoenix as he grabbed one of Fawkes tail feathers.

Fawkes shocked at the rough treatment fire flashed to the destination with an indignant screech flashing away again as soon as Albus let go of his tail feathers. Wand at the ready and ignoring the fact his safety net had just flashed away in a ball of fire Albus grabbed the emergency trigger that would alert the staff they were needed and twisted it thus activating it, his only hope as that they would be able to get here in time.

Confirming that the wards were down and throwing up some temporary ones against port keys and Apparation Albus stalked towards the house, not hearing anything coming from inside he slowly made his way around to the back of the house after casting an advanced locking charm at the front door. Hearing the crack of Apparation from behind him Albus twirled and almost hexed the responding Auror, one Kingsley Shacklebolt.

“Albus what’s going on here, where’s the attackers?” Kingsley fired off as he rapidly took in his surroundings.

“Unknown as I just now got here myself Kingsley,” Albus fired back as he continued around the corner of the house and peaked into the window from the back yard, not seeing anything he felt safe enough to continue into the back yard and search through the house.

Trying to stay quiet Kingsley asked from behind Dumbledore, “Who lives here and what caused the magical monitors for this section to explode?”

Not seeing the harm in telling the other, seeing that the wards were totally gone Albus opened the door and started into the house, “Harry Potter, Harry and his relatives live here.

Stunned my that admission Kingsley wildly looked around when he heard the multiple sounds of Apparation and was relieved to see it was mostly Hogwarts professors, seeing them fan out in a standard search pattern Kingsley shrugged his shoulders in confusion before following the headmaster inside. Rapidly moving through the house he along with the Headmaster found no traces of anyone living or dead.

“Albus?” Minerva questioned as she and the other professors gathered in the living room.

Shaking his head Albus tired and not sure where his plans were going now replied, “I am unsure Minerva, there does not seem to be any evidence of foul play and with the wards crashing like they did we will never know.”

About that time Arabella Figg followed by Remus Lupin and a large black dog rushed in the back door, getting right up into Dumbledore’s face she continued her rant from earlier, “I told you Albus about how those evil people treated Harry, All these years I have told you how they starved and abused that poor boy, now they have gone and killed him more than likely.”

Frowning and not very pleased that Remus or Sirius were here to hear the dirty little secret come out Albus tried to calm the irate Squib down, “Arabella please I told you before there never has been any proof that the ramblings of a distraught child were true…”

Stopped by the highly irate squib slapping him on the face he stepped back as she pushed her way through the crowd and threw open the small dust cupboard under the stairs. “NO proof is there, all those times I told you of his broken bones by the hand of that obese cousin or his uncle was not proof enough,” pointing her finger at the now open cupboard, “how’s this for proof you old fool, the boys bedroom for most of his life, still has his name scrawled in the dirt up top.”

Minerva who was closest to the cupboard looked in and scowled at what she saw inside it seems that old Mrs. Figg was telling the truth. Moving suddenly as she was roughly pushed aside from a large black dog who rushed into the cupboard and started sniffing around before letting out angry growls and lunging towards Dumbledore with his fangs barred.

Unfortunately or fortunate depending on the persons view point Remus caught the dog by the scruff of the neck and held him back thus saving Albus’s life. Sniffing the air Remus’s eyes flashed amber as he tried to control the wolf and his anger at the same time, “There is blood in there Albus, Blood spilled over a long time to seep that deeply, you told me he would be safe here Albus, you lied to us” Remus hissed out in anger. “Come Padfoot lets track him our way.”

Snape who had stayed to the background so far peered into the cupboard and unseen to the rest of his colleagues he smiled in glee, he could not wait to be able to use this against the brat. Leaving the room and making his way out of the house he found a dark alley not too far away and Apparated back to the castle, he could always tell the old man he showed up as they were breaking up so he returned.

Quickly handing out assignments to those still there Albus sadly looked around the house once more and wondered when everything went wrong.

Several minutes later deep inside an overgrowth of old trees in the center of the park where a man and a large dog stood a moment before there was now two men. “He lied to us Moony,” Sirius hit the tree with his fist, “He lied to us.”

“I know Padfoot, I know,” Remus placed a calming hand on the others shoulder.

Getting control over his emotions Sirius stood up and asked, “where do we start searching?”

“Apparate to the Weasley’s, we start with Ron,” Remus thought out loud, ‘Albus and the others will start at the train and Diagon Alley, so we start with the kids.” A moment later the birds were disturbed by the sound of two large cracks.

Appearing outside the Burrow Sirius once more transformed back into Padfoot and ran next to his fellow Marauder towards the Weasley abode. Knocking on the half open door Remus waited impatiently while Padfoot went round the other side of the house. Hearing a bark come from around back Remus abandoned his wait by the front door and ran around to the back garden to spot Padfoot sitting down next to the second youngest Weasley child.

Ron looking up form the picnic table where he was writing a letter to Harry, jumped when a large black dog woofed near the edge of the house and come running towards him, he was reaching for his wand and ready to hex the thing when he saw Professor Lupin rounded the corner. Looking a the dog once more he noticed the intelligence in those eyes and remembered back to Harry’s godfather Sirius Black, “hello Padfoot,” then raising his voice he called out “hello Professor Lupin, moms not home right now and dad’s still at work…” he trailed off not knowing what else to say.

Sitting down at the table across from Ron, Remus smiled “that’s ok Ron, we came to talk to you really.”

Looking around the yard to see if anyone was around that would overhear their conversation Remus was interrupted when Ron spoke up “it’s about Harry isn’t it?”

Surprised by that admission Remus was not able to keep it off his expression, “yes it is, the wards around Harry’s house came crashing down not to long ago and some very troubling things surfaced about his past. While the other adults run around trying to search for Harry, Padfoot and I decided that we would start the search with his friends.”

Suspicious Ron stared intently a the man and through gritted teeth asked, “and who are you going to tell when you find out what you want to know?”

Taken aback Remus looked down at Padfoot who nudged his leg hard and leaned forward and asked, “who’s around right now Ron?”

Gripping his wand a little tighter under the table Ron sat there a moment “Ginny is off to the village to meet up with some friends and Percy is off to the Ministry with Dad today so it is only Fred, George and me.”

Nodding his head at Padfoot, Remus moved over slightly making room for the rapidly transforming Sirius to sit down. “Ron we found out that Dumbledore lied to us about Harry’s safety and how he grew up, not only that he knew about everything done to him. He is right now searching for Harry so he can take him…well we are not sure where he wants to take him, other than the fact he has no right to do the things he has done to Harry, we..” Sirius pointed between Remus and himself, “only want to make sure Harry has a safe place to live and to support him in what he wants to have happen. Harry has had to many people betray his trust and welfare in the past for us to think we know what is best for him.”

“Oh don’t get us wrong,” Remus interrupted, “If we think Harry is making a bad decision we will tell him so, but in the end it is his decision to make. My parents always told me you could only learn by making mistakes.”

Thinking that they were being sincere Ron stared at them as if he could examine their very soul before sighing, “what do you want to know?”

Looking at Remus before turning back to Ron, Sirius merely said, “Tell us everything that happened the night of the third task.”

Thinking about it Ron started to tell them everything he could remember starting with how cold and angry Harry was when he finally came back to the dorm, and how all the questions everyone threw his way just darkened his mood. He told them about Ginny and Hermione barging in the morning they were to leave and how Harry was in the middle of getting dressed, well more like he had just gotten out of the shower and started to get dressed and how angry we was when the girls barged in. He even went on to tell them the rumors that were traveling the great hall like wildfire on how he called McGonagall a hypocrite and demanded the girls be banned from boys dorms or allow the boys into the girls side. He ended the story with how Harry avoided everyone, successfully that is and only talked to those he wanted to one the train and mentioned that the twins had met with Harry and Neville mentioned to him when Hermione was not around that it was strange that Harry asked him to owl him this summer as he had a project he wanted his help with.

Frowning Sirius asked, “do you know what Harry talked to the twins about?”

Smirking Ron reached out and grabbed a small pink thing near the corner of the table, “You two get out here now,” before letting it go with a snap.

Remus looked amazed as a long thin pink string snapped back towards the back door and he heard Ron tell Sirius when asked, “It’s one of those extendable ears the twins invented to snoop around with.”

Remus with his best professor face on looked at the twins “alright you two spill.”

Looking back and forth between them Fred finally spoke, “the only thing Ron sis not mention because we did not tell him was that Harry gave us his Tri-Wizard winnings to open our joke shop.”

“Said everyone would soon need a laugh or two he did, and the last we saw him before the train he was walking by the forest.” George added.

“He wouldn’t have gone in the forest…at least I don’t think he would be so foolish,” Remus paled at the thought.

“I don’t know Moony…” Sirius was lost trying to bring forward a memory, “You remember during our seventh year how Lily would always be found taking walks through the forest ,when we tried to tell her it was to dangerous she would laugh at us, telling us that nothing would dare approach her in there without her permission.”

“I thought those were stories you and James made up, one of your pet theories to get yourselves noticed like back in sixth year,” Remus was surprised that they could be true.

Shaking his head “No they were true, James and I followed her in one day. Every living thing ran away from her path, the strangest feeling it was,” Sirius whispered in memory.

Suddenly piercing the twins with an intense stare Sirius asked “there was nothing strange Harry did or said to you on the train, nothing how ever small?”

The brothers stared at each other intently, mouths moving as if they were reliving the conversation when all of a sudden Fred sat up “He said those that solemnly swear would always be able to find him as he walked out of the compartment.”

“We have no clue what he meant…” Fred stopped when he saw the looks on Sirius and Remus’s faces and George seeing the look of recognition hit his brother on the head and muttered “password,” before running back in the house.

Slamming the door open on his way back George skidded to a halt as he thunked the full sack of galleons on the table in front of everyone, sitting down heavily on the bench he joined everyone else as they stared at the sack.

Finally Fred broke the silence “we did empty the bag and counted the money, exactly one thousand galleons, we did not find anything else in the bag.”

Taking his shirt off and upending the contents of the sack on it George looked inside the sack and not seeing anything passed it over to Sirius for a look see.

Putting his hand inside the sack and even turning it inside out Sirius handed it back “just in case he protected it further one of you say the password.”

Looking at his twin George held the sack as Fred just shrugged and finally “I solemnly swear I am up to no good.” The sack enlarged by twice its height and he let out a very loud “whoa,” when he felt the sack get heavier.

The first to speak this time was Ron ‘Well? What’s inside?”

Very carefully George opened the sack in case something nasty jumped out and peering inside he got a look of confusion on his face before reaching in and pulling out an elaborately carved wood frame holding a mirror. Setting it down carefully in the center of the table George started to funnel the galleons back into the sack now that it had returned to normal size.

Picking up the mirror and feeling the magic running through it Remus looked at Sirius before turning to Ron and the twins “you to go back inside and hide that sack back wherever you had it and meet us by the fireplace, Ron leave a note that the three of you will be back after a bit in case your mum gets back before the two of you do.” Standing up clutching the mirror Remus looked around, “I think we need to be somewhere a little more private when we take the next step.”

“We can use my old family home where I have been staying, it is unplottable and hidden and only those I give permission too and use a special floo powder can enter through the wards, not to mention it is in better shape than old Grimwald place.” Sirius told them as they headed inside.

Holding out the bag of green sparkling floo powder Sirius instructed “I will go last, Moony you first the destination is Black’s Cavern Padfoot rides again.”

Nodding his head Remus took a pinch of the powder and threw it into the fire and announced as he stepped into the eerily black flames “Black’s Cavern Padfoot rides again,” before disappearing in a puff of smoke.

Not about to be left behind Ron grabbed a pinch and threw it into the fire and followed Remus as the twins went next Sirius looked around and noticed a shock of red coming closer to the house and moving quickly threw his own pinch of powder into the fire and yelled out “Black’s Cavern Padfoot rides again,” disappearing in the smoke just before Ginny opened the door, home from her visit with her friends.
