Answers to questions

Firetail asks why this chapter is shorter than others.

Well when I originally wrote this chapter it was part of one long one
shot, then after breaking the story up into proper chapters I did foresee a
very short chapter here at chapter 4, I suppose I could have included it
with chapter 5 but by the time I had gotten to chapter 6 I realized that it
would not be a one shot and did not think adding filler to the chapter
was a good idea, by the time it makes it to the files section there might be
fifty more words too it to cover something Joey asked.

Joey you had a very good point, and I will fix it before it hits the files
section and the web. I did not mean to make it seems like Harry was
slighting Nessius in the least I guess I need to address that point as I
remember thinking that Nessius was very nervous and was trying his hardest
to leave. I will also fix the point about the guests and using the word his
guests. As I can see how it could be taken as a slight.

Kat, Glad you like it, Dumbledore is not going to be a happy camper in this
story, though he is NOT evil just has this utopian picture of how the world
should be and thinking he knows best for everyone else he has lost sight of
the fact that the greater good is very subjective.

Kelly, Michelle glad you like it and I hope you like the rest of the story
once it is posted

And let me add a comment here about the twin linked Astria used in Ancients
Ascended.

This is the first stage of using fold space technology for anything other
than communications. Unlike the Astria or Star Gates it does not matter how
far apart the Astria are, and no nexus stages are needed, so if a person
would have traveled in fives steps before to go from one section of the
universe to the other with this new development it could be done in one
step. Taking the fold space Astria to the next level would be allowing them
to be able to multiple Astria.

Journey to a New Start Ch 04

Not seeing any of the horsy people Toby called out. “High One needs help.”

Ever since the High One placed the strange structure that was a small sanctuary in this location the Centaur elders had stationed a watcher nearby to keep them informed.

Hearing one of the wizards slaves call out made him curious, breaking cover Akrios called out. “What does one of the Wizarding slaves know about the High One?”

Twirling around to face the voice that came from behind him Toby answered holding up the parchment. “Toby is Librarian for Sir Emerald Eyes and has message requesting help.”

“How do I know this is not a Wizarding trick?” Akrios told him moving closer.

Snorting in frustration Toby held the parchment open so he could read it and replied. “Toby no tricking you. Unicorns sick and not all made it to Sanctuary, High One is asking for Centaur help.”

“Does Toby tell Sir Emerald Eyes Centaurs refuse?” Toby had had enough of the suspicions when his Sir needed help now.

Feeling comfortable the strangely dressed creature was still standing in the center of the circle, meaning he would be safe from violence Akrios walked into the circle and bent down and tried to read the words on the parchment.

“I can not read these words.” Akrios growled out.

Snorting in frustration Toby remembered the spell the High One taught them so the books and tomes would read themselves out loud so they would be able to learn to read.

Casting the spell on the parchment Harry’s voice filled the clearing.

“Bane or Elder of the Centaurs, a herd of Unicorns have been poisoned and are dying.

Half of them have made it to Sanctuary and are being treated.

I need your help to track down and bring the ones who were not strong enough to make the sanctuary circle to get help.

Gather in the circle and Toby will lead you to the area where the sick Unicorns are coming from.

If you come across the ones responsible hold them for my judgment.

Don’t let me down.”

Reaching around for his war horn Akrios blew several long and short notes calling for reinforcements.

“I am calling for help little one. We will not let the High One down.” Akrios told him with conviction before placing the horn against his lips and sending out the call again.

Throughout this section of the forest Centaurs stopped what they were doing as the heard the signal asking for reinforcements followed by the note that told of the one doing the calling.

Moving slowly towards the village at first and speeding up the centaurs prepared for whatever disaster was bout to strike now.

Centaurs on patrol started to jog towards the clearing where Akrios was stationed as they heard the call for reinforcements.

Hearing the call come again this time louder followed one more time by a repeat of the first the Centaurs broke into a full gallop in their haste to get to the clearing as fasts as possible.

Clan elders who had come out of their huts at the first sound of the horn from Akrios started to panic and broke out into a run trying to catch up with the warriors when they heard the horn sound two more times.

Twenty or so warriors broke into the clearing expecting to see a battle, not Akrios standing in the center of the circle with a nervous Wizarding slave.

Angry at being called to battle Dral really started to tear into Akrios for calling them but stopped in shock when the house elf leaped in front of him and started ranting at him.

Toby had lost all his patience by this point and started yelling at anything that moved. “You is being silent. High One needs you to be saving the Unicorns that are too sick to make it to Sanctuary.”

“Help or leave, but High One will not be nice if you leave.” Toby finished as he pointed his finger at the Centaurs before motioning them to move inside the circle.

Stepping outside the circle Akrios called out. “Little one take these warriors to the place we need to go and come back for the rest of us.” Akrios told him as he blew his horn once again.

Glaring at the nervous Centaurs Toby walked around the circle touching Runic symbols with one hand causing them to glow while keeping the other eye firmly fixed on the very nervous Centaur warriors.

Activating the array, Toby one of the most educated of the free house elves due to his being a librarian and his love of books, brought the Centaurs to the array the Unicorns had come through and looked around and noticed several Unicorn laying on the ground breathing slowly and with much effort.

Hearing the shocks of dismay from the Centaurs standing around him Toby threw his arm out pointing to the fallen Unicorns and shouted. “Go.” Before popping back to the first array to bring the rest.

Seeing twice the number of Centaurs standing in the circle Toby nodded his head and started to activate the Runic symbols once again.

“Thank you little one.” Nessius told him as they reappeared in the new clearing. “Tell the High One we will do our best to track down those that are to sick to make it to Sanctuary and bring them to him for treatment.”

Nodding his head Toby moved over towards two Centaurs that were carrying one of the unconscious Unicorns into the circle to ride back with them.

Once back at Sanctuary Toby stayed close to the array to be able to send the Centaurs back to the glade to search for more sick Unicorns.

XXX

Seeing Centaur’s carrying unconscious Unicorns into the barn Harry gave a silent prayer of thanks that Toby was able to get their help, now maybe they would be able to save them.

During a short time where no new patients or Centaurs arrived Harry heard in the back of his mind the warning given out to those who broke Sanctuary.

Looking up as he wiped the sweat off his face and not seeing anything Harry dismissed the warning as a figment of his overworked mind seeing no one else was acting like they had heard it.

“This potion will stop any more damage and give us some time to finish the antidote.” Saero yelled as he carried a large box full of Vials into the barn.

Sighing relief Harry quickly grabbed the box and started handing out vials or dosing the Unicorns himself.

Setting the box with the extra doses down near the array so that any new Unicorns could be quickly dosed Harry stood up and stretched taking a breather in relief.

Harry shudder to think on how many of the Unicorns they would have lost if it was not for the help of the Hidden Valley High Elves.

“Trisky.” Harry waited for the house elf to pop in before asking her.” Trisky do you think you will be able to fix a quick snack for everyone and then maybe a hot meal later on?”

“Trisky can do so. Using Sir Emerald Eyes birds.” She told him and seeing the surprised look on his face rubbed it in. “Did Sir think he could hide birds from Trisky. Trisky be telling Sir he may fix lunch not supper.”

Harry was still standing there once again wondering when he lost control of his kitchen when he heard Saero chuckle at the conversation as he brought in the antidote.

“Well young Lord it looks like she really likes you. I remember when I was kicked out of my kitchens years ago. I do believe it is funnier when it happens to someone else.” Saero told him as he motioned for Isty to come over.

Kneeling down so he was not towering over the little one Saero explained. “Two drops if the unicorn is pregnant and if not only one drop.”

Three hours later a couple of dozen lay among piles of sickness and filth Harry walked towards the door leading outside intent on finding a place they could house all of them and still leave some of the stalls open for any newcomers that made it to Sanctuary sick or injured.

Walking outside Harry was shocked to see a dozen or so house elves zipping back and forth seated in chairs snapping their fingers as they managed to erect a large canopy to keep the sun and rain off the Unicorns while others were floating around bales of straw and stacking them two high in the lush grassy area while placing bales of deep green hay near the fronts of each temporary room.

An excited eldest came running over to Harry’s side. “See…See Crippled elves can still do good work for Sir Emerald Eyes.”

Sighing before placing a gentle smile on his face Harry knelt down so he could look the old house elf in the eyes. “I never doubted it for a minute Eldest. They are doing good work and I am proud they work for me.”

Standing up tiredly, and smiling down at the beaming house elf Harry started to walk back towards the barn and slowly shook his head, it would take a lot of work before the house elves started to value themselves for more than the work they could do.

Entering the door Harry announced. “A place has been prepared out in the grassy area outside for all the Unicorns to heal in. I think they would be more relaxed once we move them outside.”

Nodding their heads several of the hidden valley High Elves directed some of the house elves to levitate their patients out to the prepared area while others helped by doing the levitating themselves.

Soon all the unicorns were resting propped up on bales of straw in the grassy area with food and water in easy reach, all the while house elves zipped around in little chairs seeing to their comfort.

Back in the hospital section of the barn Harry had started to banish and clean up the mess around the aisles only to be stopped by an irate house elf. “Sir Emerald is not be doing house elf work, that is why he hired house elf’s.”

Now that the chaos was over and the Unicorns on the mend Isty along with a dozen or more house elves politely told the High Ones they should not being doing jobs they were hired for.

Saero snickering at the gob-smacked expression on Harry’s face as the irate house elf told him to stop cleaning up went over and placed his hand on his shoulder and whispered. “Come young Lord, lets leave them to do what they love to do before all the hard work you have done to nurture their independence is undone.”

“But.” Harry stuttered as he had to move to the side as gleeful house elves in flying chairs whizzed through the barn at head height snapping there fingers as they directed mops and brushes to scrub the floors spotless.

“Look at them young Lord, you have given new life to those that felt they had no use. Don’t take that moment away from them.” Saero told him.

Nodding his head in understanding, even though he was so used to doing things by himself and not having any other soul around him, Harry started for the main part of the outpost intent on following the High Elves that were being escorted to the dinning room by a chipper Trisky, when he noticed Nessius standing to one side.

Walking up to the Centaur elder Harry told him. “Thank you Nessius. Without your clans help we would have lost more of the herd than we did.”

Nessius who was in awe at the sheer number of High Ones that he had watched heal the sick Unicorns shook himself out of his thoughts when the young High one spoke to him.

“It is we who are honored that you would seek our help. Not many of the two legs in this age treat us as anything but animals to be scorned.” Nessius told him as he bowed deeply.

“We to our shame found an outcast of our clan helping several of the ones that dress in black robes and hide behind masks. Unfortunately they were all found dangling from the end of a spike with a warning that they had violated sanctuary. So we failed in the task of keeping those responsible alive for questioning.” Nessius told him slightly nervous but not showing it.

Sighing Harry replied. “Once they broke the law of Sanctuary nothing could be done. Though if you hear or see anything please send word and I will try to send out a spy or two to find out what the death eaters hoped to gain by poisoning the Unicorns.” Harry told him replacing the frown with a tired smile of thanks.

“Please feel free to wander around Sanctuary. If you need me I shall be inside attending to my guests. You can ask any of the free house elves for anything and they will be happy to provide it I’m sure.” Harry told him thinking they would probably fall over themselves in glee at being asked to do some chore or such.

Walking into the dinning room on the tail end of the explanation of who he was and his name Harry stood at the head of the table and looked over the dozen and a half High Elves that had come running to help those in need.

“I want to welcome you to my home and thank you for your help.” Harry told them as he looked at each and every one of those around the table.

“From the bottom of my heart, thank you.” Harry said bowing in respect.

Hearing the replies of it was their pleasure or not to worry about it Harry blushed and motioned to the food spread out along the table. “Please help yourselves, and enjoy.”

Sitting down Harry started to relax as platters of food were passed around and the conversation started to flow along the lines of how beautiful the grounds were from what they could glimpse through the doors and canopy.

Finally relaxing and no longer thinking that the High Elves were upset with him over taking their image when he came to this world Harry enjoyed the long meal and allowed himself to be drawn into the conversation.

After a surprisingly refreshing pudding consisting of fruit and nuts ground and rolled in powdered chocolate Harry asked. “Would you like to move this to more comfortable surrounds like the living room?”

Moving across the hall to the large spacious living room Harry was smiling and fully relaxing and almost glowing at the companionship that was being offered, he had missed knowing this back in his old world with the war and the expectations that had been placed on his shoulders from the moment he rejoined the magical, world.

Taking part in a conversation about green magic where he was telling of his experiment with the house trees and even showing several pictures of the project with a group of excited healers he almost missed the slight pop heralding the arrival of a house elf.

It was the clatter of things hitting the floor and rolling around that really grabbed his attention. Turning around he noticed the young house elf from earlier in the day shaking in fear, eyes wide as his paints rolled around by his feet.

Amathal who was nearest quickly scooped up the trembling youngster and started to croon comforting words in Elvin to him.

Harry who had gotten up and collected the spilled tubes and jars of paint placed them back into the bag and smiled a comforting smile as he handed the bag back. “Here you go Bitsy. Did we scare you?”

Harry had to really strain his hearing to follow Bitsy’s words. “Bitsy wanted to thanks Sir and show him all the paints he buys.”

Reaching his hand into his vest pocket Bitsy handed over the change. “Bitsy promised not to use all Sirs money.”

Wanting to laugh Harry took the change and asked if he had gotten the best paints he could so his painting was what he wanted it to be.

Forgetting he was being cradled in the arms of one of the High Ones, Bitsy’s eyes took on a dreamy quality as he rambled on about what he was going to paint his walls to look like and how he was going to include Sir standing in the trees with a smile on his face.

Really wanting to laugh, but afraid he would hurt the little ones feelings he was glad for the interruption of another pop behind him.

Turning around he noticed Tinky standing there angrily muttering about house elves that needed to learn a lesson.

Motioning for Tinky to follow him from the room into the hall, Harry knelt so he was face to face with the house elf and asked. “Tinky what in the world is wrong, did something happen when you and Bitsy were at the store?”

Tinky nodded his head with sadness as he relayed the conversation he had with the Elves that worked the back ally where house elves did their shopping for their masters.

“And the Wizard took one look at our vests and refused to let any of the ally elves sell to us any more sayings we not being proper elves for wearing vests. Blinky had already bought Bitsy’s paints so we did not have to sadden the little one.” Tinky finished his tale.

Harry got a gleam of retribution in his eyes that promised pain for the insult to the free house elves and told him. “I will take care of it, and make arrangements for our supplies to be bought some where else.”

Seeing that his words satisfied the house elf Harry stood up and made his way back to the living room and scanning the room noticed that Bitsy and Amathal were gone.

Saero noticing the young lords search called out. “Amathal convinced the little one to show her his home, thus making sure he returned home safely and happy.”

Nodding his head Harry sent a smile towards the Lord of the Hidden Valley to let him know he heard and returned to the conversation on green magic.

Several hours later and a promise of a copy of his notes on the house trees and several seeds to Naithar in the coming week, Harry leaned back as the only ones left in the room were Saero and himself.

“You truly enjoyed yourself tonight young Lord.” Saero said softly as he moved across the room to sit across from Harry.

Smiling Harry softly replied. “Yes I did, I really don’t think I have ever felt such a belonging as I did tonight. It was wonderful.”

Leaning back in the comfortable couch. “You do belong, you are truly one of us now. As I mentioned before twice in our long history changelings have arrived from other worlds and put down roots deep into the soil of this world.” Saero started his explanation.

“Each of these changelings settled into a land and took up the title of Lord that through magic or fate seemed to place upon their willing shoulders, each of them coming from war tore lands to this world to heal, and more than likely have similar stories to your own.” Saero got lost in his story.

Paying close attention Harry seemed to absorb his words.

“Each set up lands and named them something that had meaning to them, and protected them and those that came to them.

Each of them also worried when they found out the High Elves still existed in this world and feared they would be rejected instead of the welcome they received.

Each became a catalyst for change in the world just by being who they are. A catalyst that made the world a better place.

And instead of each of them found a home and family. AS will you.” Saero said as he took a potion out of his belt and held it out for Harry.

“You are the only changeling to make the cross that still has not matured magically yet. This potion will complete the changing you started with your changeling potion so when you do come into your magical maturity it does not drive you to the brink of insanity or worse with pain.” Saero told him holding him with his eyes.

Reaching over with a shaky hand Harry took the offered potion and asked. “What does it do?”

“If your magic was mature you would not need this as the changes to your magic would have happened when you took the changeling draught. But seeing that you slipped back in time for some reason and your body reset itself to a younger version, when your core matures it will attempt to burn out any Wizarding magic that is still left in you.” Saero explained to the rapidly paling young Lord.

“My body was failing due to abuse and malnutrition I suffered as a child, not to mention the damage defeating the dark lord’s forces before I finally defeated him.” Harry whispered in pain.

“I do not judge you, Nay, Instead I give you a boon.” Saero softly told him. “This potion will slowly clean your magic, so when the time comes that your core once again matures it will do so painlessly and without any loss of magic.”

“When you come of age you will be the most powerful magic user amongst our people. Your people now.” Saero told him.

‘I welcome you to your new home and people Lord of the lands of Sanctuary.” Saero had risen and bowed deeply.

Uncomfortable Harry blushed slightly and stammered out. “Thank you…Thank you for excepting me.”

“Several of the healers will be staying as you already know, but what I would ask is that you open your lands for more of our people to settle here if they wish.” Saero asked formally.

Standing sensing the Lord of the Hidden Valley wished to leave Harry replied. “Of course they will be welcome. I am not sure where we will put them but we will find places for all who want to make their home here.”

“It has been a long and productive day and I should return home to let you rest. And if I may suggest if you can grow more of those house trees they would make perfect homes for our people, we after all have a deep love for nature.” Saero smiled at the thought of living in a growing tree that was reinforced by ambient magic.

Harry started to lead Saero back towards the hospital array so he could shift out of the wards, he asked. “The original grove of house trees is almost ready to harvest, their seeds are almost ready to drop, so I should have plenty to pass along for you to start your own grove and plant plenty of my own.”

Stopping outside the array Harry asked something that had been weighing on his mind all day, ever since he learned that the High Elves still existed. “I have been having some run ins with Dumbledore and a few other Wizards, I am not sure how much longer I can conceal my identity and now that I know that High Elves still exist, I am not sure if it is a good idea to continue tempting fate by traveling outside the boundaries of Sanctuary.”

“Young Lord if you are wondering if we hide ourselves from the magical users on purpose, the answer is no. We tend to live isolated because we like too, not because we want to stay hidden, after seeing what a few of the individuals of the Wizarding world are willing to do to gain power, it may be time to remind the magical world that we still are around and do not like what we see.”

Slashing his hand down to open a portal Saero walked through leaving this advice floating in the air. “Tell them or not makes no difference, though if you think you can gain an advantage do so.”

Harry had a lot to think over as he walked back to his rooms holding the potion vial in his hands, realizing he had found acceptance because of what he was doing not who he was or what he could do.

Short post tonight

Well Yahoo seems to be hiccuping yesterday along about the time I posted chapters to the file section, so no notices went out, I did not want to bombard the group with over a dozen messages of the same thing, it was bad enough they flooded my inbox, at one point yesterday my isp could not keep up. outlook dowloads my mail every two minutes and yet several times during this hiccup yesterday I received notices from my isp my mail box was in danger of bouncing.

Oh well

the good news for you all is that chapter 10 of Journey was completed a couple of hours ago and Scott must have been bored as he got it right back to me :)

also it seems that 70% of you would prefer my stories to be posted to the group as HTML instead of Word Documents, which after playing around with the new office 2007 might be a good thing as the Doc format changed so it could not be read by another program, at least so far in my tests to date.

Though I am very impressed with the new features and the ribbon tool bar, very impressed.

So I am off to soak in a hot tub and bid you a good night

Journey to a New Start ch 03

Harry thanked Trisky for breakfast as he left the kitchen. Thinking about the changes that had happened over the past three weeks took up his time as he walked down towards the sitting room off of the library that looked out over the gorge.

Sitting down in the chair closest to the window Harry was lost in thought.

It was interesting to find out how this world differed from the one he left behind, for one thing it seemed as if the Voldermort here was not as advanced in his war against anything not pureblooded.

It was a shock to find out that Voldermort was also active in this world, but as he went over the news clippings of his attacks he noticed that he had not yet branched out into the massive Muggle and blood traitor killings he did in this time period in his own world.

Picking up his copy of the rise of Voldermort that was one of the better ones to chronicle the first war back in his own dimension Harry continued his comparison of the differences from both worlds.

So far it seemed that the biggest difference was that the Blacks had denounced Voldermort in this dimension and had not distanced themselves from their oldest son.

In fact it looked like the Blacks in this dimension were typically sorted into Ravenclaw.

Setting his book aside Harry decided he needed more information, and the only place he was going to get it was going into Hogsmeade and nosing around and maybe spending some time in the bookstore.

A self updating copy of Hogwarts a History would be a good idea as one of his purchases also.

Toby who had a secret love of books and learning came over to pick up some of the books Harry had finished earlier. “Is Emerald Eyes Sir finished with his books?”

Looking up Harry smiled. “Thank you Toby you can shelf these books now I am finished with them.”

Picking up the book from his home dimension Harry added. “If you would put this one back in my private library I would be grateful.”

Toby bounced in joy at being allowed to shelf books in Sirs private Library, he was the only house elf allowed in the private library.

Gently taking the book from Harry’s hands he clutched it to his chest and popped from the room eager to do his job.

Laughing at the little fellows antics Harry stood up and walked over to the railing of the balcony that overlooked the massive cavern inside the mountainous cliff face.

The exact same cavern that held his library that was as large as Hogwarts was big.

Smiling at seeing several of the house elves sitting around one of the tables avidly reading Harry started for the kitchen to get some money for the day’s excursion.

He had to hand it to himself it was a masterpiece even if he was the only one patting himself on the back. Once he realized that the house elves would do anything in their power to make sure they did not slight the High Ones honor.

Harry had simply suggested that if they studied the books and knowledge he would set aside for them they would understand the best way to avoid any issues that would touch upon the honor of the High Elves.

The house elves were so eager to please and scared of bringing dishonor to him that they eagerly jumped into the course of study he laid out.

The upside to this was not only were they better educated and their speech patterns had improved, but they were also settling down and not so fearful around him thinking they were about to do or say something that would anger him.

As it was early enough Trisky had not started to plan lunch Harry told her he would be eating lunch out while doing some shopping in Hogsmeade.

Refilling his money sack and stuffing it back into one of his belt compartments Harry made his way towards the transport circle in the hospital barn.

He would give a quick glance at the few patients in the area on his way out.

Peeking around the corner of the one stalls Harry glanced at the unicorn mother nursing her foal and smiled seeing he was playfully nudging his mother’s udder.

Glancing into the other stall that held the injured wolf that showed up this morning he saw that Isty and her apprentice were busy applying wound closing salve to the sad looking wolf.

Nodding his head at how well everything had been taken care of the last couple of weeks Harry stepped into the transport circle and willed it to activate sending him to the one closest to Hogsmeade.

Seeing that it was such a warm day Harry applied an obscuring and notice me not charm on his ears and started to walk towards Hogsmeade.

Sensing a presence behind a nearby tree Harry walked towards it as it had the taste of Centaur behind it.

A whisper came towards him. “High One, you may wish to change the direction you enter the village from. The wizards are keeping an eye on the edge of the forest.”

Peeking around the tree Harry saw Bane standing in the brush hidden from view of the path. “Thank you Bane for the warning.”

Leaning against the tree Harry studied the Centaur briefly before asking something that he was wondering. “Bane how long have you been waiting here and why?”

Fidgeting a little bit Bane replied. “Several days, I had hoped you would come this way once again so that I might talk with you again.”

Very curious Harry thought, the Bane from his world had kept hold of his fear and hate of those on two legs letting it fester until it became a senseless rage that led to his people’s death. Here on the other hand it seemed his presence was changing things.

“Why did you not use the circle to come to me?” Harry asked, curious to find out the answer.

“I did not wish to intrude to places that I would not be welcome.” Bane shrugged his body with the answer.

Shaking his head Harry sighed. “Bane all are welcome as long as they remember that violence will not be tolerated within the boundaries of Sanctuary.”

Cupping his hands in a movement that would mimic one caressing the outside of an orb, a glowing crystalline sphere appeared in his hands along with a burst of magic that shot off towards the edge of the forest.

Gazing into the sphere as images were being sent back by the burst of magic Harry spotted a clear area behind the backside of the Boars Head Pub.

Letting go of the magic now that he had a place to shift to out of the line of sight of any hidden watchers Harry turned his attention back to Bane.

“I am going to invite you and any of the elders that want to come with you of a tour of Sanctuary tomorrow morning.” Harry told him as he visualized his landing point.

“I think a meeting would be just the thing to help you and your people understand that you are welcome to visit any time you wish.” Harry said as he slashed his hand down in front of him creating a rift he could walk through.

“I shall inform the elders High One of your invitation.” Bane said with a slight bow.

“Make sure you come also, you will be able to satisfy your curiosity then.” Harry said as he walked into the rift.

Bane stared at the space the High one occupied a mere moment before as he contemplated the enigma that he represented.

Shaking his head as no answers came to him he turned around and rushed back through the undergrowth to the hidden paths that would lead to his village and the elders.

Appearing behind the Boars Head Harry quickly looked around to see if anyone had noticed his arrival.

Not seeing anyone rushing towards him Harry started to walk the back ally a short distance before cutting over to the front lane to head towards the main shopping district.

Seeing the sign for Ye Olde Books Harry walked in and started to glance through the shelves picking out a few books here and there that he thought might be helpful.

Things like a self updating book of ministry decries and laws and he even found a self updating copy of Hogwarts exposed. Must be this world’s version of Hogwarts a History Harry thought.

Taking his selection to the counter Harry glanced around for the shopkeeper before seeing a bell near the end of the counter hitting it a couple of times so it would ring.

When the grumpy old man came out of the back room the first thing he said to Harry was. “Oi now you know you are not supposed to be out of the school grounds if its not a Hogsmeade weekend.”

Sighing Harry pointed to his pile of books. “I am not a student, so would you please ring me up so I can finish my shopping.”

“What do you mean your not a student?” The shopkeeper questioned as he took in the weird attire the young man was wearing.

Harry sighed before letting out a little rant. “Why is it everyone assumes that everyone that looks young must automatically go to Hogwarts?”

“Easy there young fella.” The grumpy shopkeeper replied as he added up the total. “That will be seventeen Galleons even.”

Counting out the money Harry asked that the books be shrunk so he would not reveal his not having a wand and placed them in one of the empty compartments on his belt.

Not even glancing back or thanking the man Harry walked out of the bookstore intent on a little eavesdropping at the Three Broomsticks while eating lunch.

Spying on the boy as he walked into the Three Broomsticks Aberforth closed the door and ran to the back of the shop and spilling some of the floo powder out of the bowl on the floor in his haste threw it in the fire and called out. “Headmasters Office Hogwarts.”

When the flames became Green Aberforth stuck his head in the fire and called out.” Albus are you in here?”

Being distracted by his brother’s voice Albus excused himself from the staff meeting with the four heads of the houses and answered his brother. “Yes, Yes I am here Aberforth what is so important that you would interrupt me at this time of the day?”

“Albus I don’t know what has gotten into that Potter boy but you best make your way down to the Three Broomsticks and collect the lad before he gets into trouble. Not to mention the outlandish clothes he is wearing.”

Minerva who had heard Aberforth warning was slightly confused asked. “Are you sure it was Potter Aberforth’s, I passed him in the hallway as he was leaving class not ten minutes ago, there’s not been time for him to make it to Hogsmeade?”

Scratching his head Aberforth replied. “Well now that you mention it, he is a close match to the Potter boy but now that I think on it his hair was down to his waist where’s the Potter boy had short cropped hair.”

Thinking back to his last visit to Hogsmeade and some of the disturbing rumors that had made their way to his ears about a similar person causing a ruckus in Diagon Ally the next day after he met the lad Albus ordered. “Aberforth keep your eye out I am on my way.”

Getting up off his knees quickly for a man his age Albus spent a moment thinking out loud. “I wonder if the boy I met several weeks ago and the boy that seemed to cause that uproar in Gringotts is the same person. I think I need to have a talk with the lad.”

“Albus you don’t think the boy is a danger do you?” Minerva asked concern all over her face.

Snapping out of his thoughts Albus replied as he grabbed a pinch of floo powder from the tin on the mantle. “I doubt he is a danger, But I do wonder why a young child as young as he is and obviously magical is not in school.”

Throwing the powder into the fireplace before stepping into the green flames Albus told them. ”I will return shortly, Until then Minerva watch over the students..”

Calling out. “Goats nest.” Albus disappeared into the floo network on his way to his brother’s book shop.

Quickly making his way to the front of the bookstore Albus asked his brother. “Is he still in the pub?”

“Unless he left while I was on the Floo to you, he is.” Aberforth replied.

Nodding his head Albus skirted past his brother and walked down the street eyes zeroed in on the Three Broomsticks.

Harry had walked into the pub and ordered the special along with a bottle of Butter Beer and sat down near the front window so he could people watch.

Thanking the waitress that brought over his food and adding a nice tip to the bill Harry started to eat as he listened to the conversations around him.

Savoring his roast beef sandwich and chips Harry listened as a couple of shop keepers complained about how the Aurors camping near the forest was bad for business.

It seemed that most people seemed to think the death eater had gotten what he deserved., and there was not mention of the runic array or pylons in any of the conversations he was listening in on.

Groaning inwardly about meddling old coots as Harry caught sight of the headmaster walking towards the pub, he had to wonder what in the world Albus was doing walking towards the pub this time of day while classes were going on.

Catching the waitress attention and pointing towards his bottle of Butter Beer Harry slid several sickles towards the edge of the table to pay for his drink.

Of course like anything else the waitress arrived with his drink just as he had taken a bite of his sandwich and he could only nod his head in thanks as she laughed at his dilemma.

Sighing as the headmaster did indeed walk into the pub and instead of looking around or going towards the bar he walked over to his table.

“May I sit here?” Albus asked in his most grandfatherly voice.

Motioning for him to sit as he chewed his sandwich Harry sat back and wondered what the old man wanted. While he sometimes missed human companionship, he did not want anything to do with those he knew or the war. There was still too much pain associated with some faces for him to be comfortable around right now.

Albus seeing the boy was busy eating tried to discern what was different about the lad.

“Could you satisfy an old mans curiosity?” Albus asked in between the lad’s bites of chips and his sandwich.

Taking a drink of Butter Beer to clear his mouth Harry told him. “No promises you will get the answer you want.”

Smiling and trying to project the air of gentleness Albus asked. “Shouldn’t a boy your age be in school.”

Albus barely caught the flicker of anger in the boy’s eyes when he called him a boy.

Picking up his sandwich for another bite Harry simply told him. “I had the afternoon off and wanted to pick up a couple of books that I had seen the last time I was in the area.”

Racking his brain trying to remember if any of the other schools gave afternoons off where the student were allowed to leave unsupervised and not coming up with a name Albus hinted. “Ah home schooled. It must be very different and lonely at times.”

Harry tried his best not to scowl at the old man as he was doing his best to try to have his questions answered without coming out and asking them. It was one of his most annoying traits Harry thought.

Finishing his sandwich and pushing around his now cold chips Harry decided to be blunt. “Let me be a little rude for a moment and ask that you stop trying to find answers to your curiosity by answering a thousand trivial questions and come right out and ask me what you want to know.”

Albus was rather taken aback by the lads attitude and told him so. “That is awful forward and rude as you said young man.”

Sighing Harry counted to ten in several different languages to curb the urge to hex the man blue and polka dotted, he did not feel like playing the mans games this afternoon.

Seeing that he was not getting anywhere Harry pointed at his bottle and said. “As soon as I finish what’s in this bottle I am getting up and leaving, you have until then to bother me.”

Taken aback once again at the lad’s rudeness Albus asked. “Are you aware that the Goblins met with someone described like you and it caused quite the stir?”

Shaking his head as Albus still would not come out and ask what he wanted to know he told him as he stood up after downing the last of the Butter Beer. “They fear me. They fear me so greatly that they are unable to function. Which in a way is a shame as we could have done business together.”

Walking away from the headmaster shaking his head. Maybe he needed to meet the man halfway, offer him a bone so to speak. But Harry was tired of the intrigue and politics that was his life in his old world.

If Harry was honest with himself he stayed away from the fear that he would be pulled in to this world’s politics and even asked to help out in the war.

Walking out the open door of the pub and thinking that maybe he would surprise Trisky with a nice fresh roast that could be served for supper tomorrow Harry made his way towards the second street back intent on the grocers he had visited there last time he was in the village.

Albus sat there in shock as the lad left trying to reason out the cryptic reply. Why in Merlin’s name would the Goblins fear this young boy, what type of hold did he have over them they refused to do business with him bringing in profits for them.

Looking up and noticing he had left Albus hurried out the pubs door and looked wildly around trying to catch a glimpse of the lad.

Not seeing anything he noticed his brother down the way standing in the lane motioning towards the back of the pub.

Ah yes the second lane back, where most of the homes were located and a few shops. Waving at his brother that he understood Albus hurried between the buildings and came out onto the second lane in time to see the lad go into the grocers.

Hurrying to catch up Albus tried his best to be unobserved as he snuck glances around the shelves intent on spotting the lad.

Harry felt Albus’s presence follow him into the store but was determined to ignore the old man, knowing that it would drive him batty.

Looking down the meat counter Harry’s eyes widened when he saw several huge birds that looked like Turkeys at the end of the cold case.

Moving over to where they were, Harry wondered just how in the world they could be so big.

Esmeralda seeing the strangely dressed young man had returned to her shop walked from behind the checkout and over to the meat case. “Hello young man, back again?”

Looking up from his wandering thoughts at the sound of the woman’s voice Harry replied with a smile. “Yes ma’am.”

Chuckling at how polite the lad was compared to some she knew she asked. “Interested in one of the Turkey’s then?”

“They really are Turkey’s? I have never seen one so big before.” Harry said in wonder.

“It’s amazing what one can do with a little bit of magic and selective breeding.” Esmeralda smiled.

“Would you like one?” She asked.

“Oh yes, a spit roasted turkey sounds wonderful.” Harry said as he thought of the smells and flavors he was never allowed to taste before Hogwarts.

“Right then, did you bring your trunk?’ Esmeralda asked as she moved behind the counter, taking her wand out to levitate one of the big beasts out of the case.

Smiling as his plans of the meal he wanted to cook came together Harry reached down with his left hand and clicked open one of his belt pouches and pulled out his trunk as he looked around for the produce section.

“Just tap the brass crest with your wand to return it to its normal size ma’am.” Harry told her as he started for the produce section.

“Don’t you want to pick the one you want out young man?” Esmeralda asked in confusion as the lad started to walk away from the counter towards the root vegetables.

“Oh no, that won’t be necessary I want them both.” Harry said resuming his browsing and picking out a nice large selection of vegetables as he hummed a long forgotten tune.

Albus would have scratched his head in confusion if he allowed himself to do so in public, what in Merlin’s name could that boy need with several Turkey’s that could feed so many.

Esmeralda stared after the young man for a moment before flicking her wand and placing the birds in the lad’s trunk and casting a chilling charm on the section she had placed them in.

Quite a catchy tune the lad was humming Esmeralda though as she moved the trunk back to the counter and started to total up what he was picking out and placing them in the lads trunk.

Looking over what was in the trunk Harry thought what else, snapping his fingers he said. “Stuffing, need sausage and stuff to make stuffing, can’t have turkey and the fixings without stuffing.”

“Sounds like you know how to cook.’ Esmeralda smirked as she walked towards the cold case again. “How much sage sausage do you need?”

thinking about it for a moment Harry replied. “Five pounds should do it. Now where would I find…”

“Pecans are over there lad, against the wall in the corner.” Esmeralda pointed towards the far corner. “Can’t have stuffing without pecans.”

“Thank you.’ Harry grinned as he ran towards the corner to pick up a couple of pounds worth.

Smiling happily as he brought the last ingredient to the counter Harry plopped the bag down and pulled his money pouch out from another compartment on his belt. “How much?”

Esmeralda chuckled as the lad had started to stack Galleons on the counter ten high.

“Lets call it sixteen Galleons even.” Esmeralda told him.

Looking towards the trunk with a frown on his face Harry thought things must be cheaper in this world. Then he could have smacked himself as he remembered he had also slipped back in time, so things were bound to be cheaper.

Putting his pouch near the edge of the counter Harry knocked several of the stacks back into his pouch leaving two stacks. Taking four Galleons off the top of one of the stacks Harry smiled at the witch as she closed his trunk and tapped the crest with her wand once more to shrink it.

Picking up the two stacks of Galleons with a smile Esmeralda told him. “You come back any time lad.”

Smiling still Harry secured the top of the belt compartment that he placed his shrunken trunk into and walked towards the door calling out. “Thank you.”

Walking out of the shop, softly singing one of his favorite Elvin songs he found in his library Harry looked like he was walking around randomly, but he was leading the Headmaster to an isolated section of the town near the shrieking shack.

Stopping in the small clearing Harry felt the Headmasters presence on the other side of the tree behind him. “You might as well come out, I know you have been following me ever since I left the Three Broomsticks.”

Turning around and reinforcing his mental shields Harry waited until the Headmaster stepped out from behind the tree.

Seeing the sheepish expression on Albus’s face quickly turn to one of grandfatherly concern Harry had to ask. “You do know that the way you have been following me around could be taken as stalking do you not?”

Smiling in an attempt to put the boy at ease Albus said. “I thought I would offer you the chance to visit Hogwarts and take a look at some of the classes offered. After all it might tempt you with the new subjects you could learn and being around others your own age.”

Sighing Harry decided to be blunt once more, more because he knew it annoyed the hell out of Albus. “I do not know you and so far the only things I do know about you would make one very wary of going any where near you.”

Smiling trying to turn on his charm Albus replied. “Well my dear boy that is easily fixed. My Name is Albus Dumbledore, I am the Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.”

“The best and oldest of the Magical schools, even if I do say so myself.” Albus extended a hand in friendship.

Ignoring the extended hand as Harry stared at the man in front of him and tried to understand why Albus was hounding him, after all he did not know who he was. What is it about him that drew the man to him.

“I’m sorry, but I still don’t understand why the interest, or the fascination that you have with me that draws you away from your duties of Headmaster of this prestigious school of yours to spy on me and my doings.” Harry shook his head sadly, wondering if it was his lot in life to draw the attention of the Headmaster.

Does this boy not know his own power Albus thought, before stalling with. “I must have forgotten your name young man, would you mind refreshing my memory?”

“That’s because I never gave it to you.” Harry replied with a sigh. “Who I am is really not any of your concern Headmaster, all I want is to be left alone.”

Turning away from the headmaster Harry started to walk towards the forest. “Is that really to much to ask?”

Albus came to the mistaken conclusion that the boy spent too much time alone, even if he did say he craved being left alone Albus thought it was not healthy in one so young to be alone.

Seeing the boy about to enter the Forbidden Forest he called out in fear. “Wait, it is to dangerous for you to go into the forest without an adult.”

Shaking his head, it was a shame really that the greatest wizard in the world supposedly jumped to conclusions with so little information.

Standing just inside the forest Harry did not turn around but did say with some conviction. “Nothing in the forest will hurt me, no creature would dare.”

“Do not forget our earlier conversation Headmaster, The Goblins fear me to such a degree that they cower in the corner unable to move at just the sight of me.” Harry said with great sadness.

“Whether the fear is logical or not it does have some basis in fact.” Harry told him coldly.

“But a wizard was killed in there not to long ago, on the day you went in there even.” Albus tried to control his panic as the boy started to walk into the forest.

Harry cocked his head to the side as he thought of the best way to answer the headmasters concern without giving his identity away totally. “I know.”

The headmaster was taken aback by that simple statement, and before he could reply the boy spoke up again.

“He broke the law of Sanctuary, no purposely intended violence can be done to others while within Sanctuaries boundaries.” Harry told him before he started to walk into the forest again.

“WHAT.” Albus called out in confusion as he pulled out his wand and ran into the forest after the boy, looking for an explanation.

Quickly catching up to the boy as he was approaching the area where the boy disappeared before, not only that this looked like the area that the death eater was discovered impaled on a spike.

One of the Aurors that had hidden himself near the shrieking Shack noticed the Headmaster walking into the forest with his wand drawn at the ready and ran from his hiding place to help him.

Harry had entered the circle and turned to face the headmaster and his eyes widened slightly as he noticed the Auror that had joined him.

Shaking his head with sadness Harry held up his hand hoping to forestall the headmaster from entering the circle. He certainly did not want to take him back home with him.

“What would it take Headmaster to convince you to leave me alone?” Harry said in frustration.

Stopping on the green grass of the glade but outside of the pylons, Albus noticed the boy’s frustration and tried to appear non threatening as he felt the power increase around the boy.

“Please, I just want to make sure you are alright, and maybe understand a little about you.” Albus pleaded.

“But that’s just it.” Harry told him sternly. “Instead of showing me common courtesy and asking me what you want to know with a straight question, you have to play these games you seem fond of.”

“But.” Albus stammered

“No headmaster, your actions today have shown me that you enjoy playing games way to much for my comfort.” Harry told him.

“And I must ask that in the future you refrain from stalking and bothering me under some misguided sense that I need protection.” Harry sighed and stared at the flabbergasted man. “I would hate to come to the conclusion that the one I needed protection from was you.”

“Now before I go home I am going to pass on a warning to you since you seem to be ignoring your surroundings.” Harry told him not breaking eye contact.

Seeing the shock and slight fear in the headmasters eyes did not bring him the joy he thought it would by getting one up on the old man. “This is a place of sanctuary. I would remind you of the other one who broke the law of non violence in this place and how he ended up.”

“Think on it as you stand before me with your wand pointed towards me.” Harry said before calling out. “Cysti.” And disappearing silently, leaving behind a bemused headmaster and a chuckling Auror.

“You have to admit the lad pegged you dead on Albus.” Alastor told him.

“Mad Eye, that boy has so much power it frightens me not to know how he is being taught. We don’t need a second Dark Lord attempting to rise.” Albus mused as he turned and returned his wand to his sleeve as he walked back towards the village.

XXX

Walking towards the kitchen to put his find away in the cold room Harry snorted at the thoughts running through his head.

So far it seemed that this worlds Albus was just as nosey as the one back in his world, though it was a toss up whether he was as manipulative or not.

Granted he had to deal with the Wizarding public who were starting to get frightened at the rise of a new dark lord that was replacing Grindelwald. But still.

Peeking around the corner Harry quickly made his way to the cold room and the microscopic section Trisky set aside for his use and removing and un-shrinking his trunk removed his bounty and placed them on the shelf.

Closing the door of the cold room Harry placed the remaining supplies on the small shelf in the pantry set aside for his use. He had to wonder just when he had lost control of his own kitchen to the point he had to sneak in the groceries he bought.

Sliding the door closed slowly so as not to make a sound Harry heard Trisky talking to someone in the pantry that held the household money.

Curious he walked over and stood in the door and listened in.

“What is bitsy doing here.” Trisky asked the bouncing small house elf.

“Bitsy is wanting to ask Sir Emerald Eyes if he can buy paint to paint his room.” The little house elf bounced in joy at the thought of painting a forest scene on his walls.

Trisky looked at the bouncing little elf and wondered where his minders were and told him. “Sir Emerald Eyes is being a busy person, you should ask you minders to buys you paint.”

Bitsy stopped bouncing and his ears dropped in disappointment fearing rejection of his dreams.

“Bitsy only has momma minder, daddy minder elf killed long ago, momma minder elf not able to work.” Bitsy whispered out.

Harry could not stay silent any longer he could feel the young house elves disappointment all the way over in the doorway.

Gently he softly broke into the conversation. “Trisky make sure to buy Bitsy the best paints you can find.”

Bitsy’s ears flapped in joy as he stood up in awe at hearing the generous news that his dreams would come true. “Bitsy is working very hard to earn Sirs paints. Very hard.”

Bitsy started to bounce around the room before asking. ”What does Bitsy needs to do to earn paints?”

Looking at Trisky to see if she would help, and not finding any help there Harry pulled one of the leathers sacks off the wall and put several Galleons in it and handed to Bitsy.

“Make sure someone goes with you when you buy your paints.” Harry told him.

Eyes bugging out as big as saucers Bitsy tried to refuse with. “Is to much monies.”

Gently opening the young elves hands Harry pressed the pouch into it and closed his young fingers around it. “Buy the best paints you can find, whatever you don’t use bring back to Trisky, she will have a list of chores for you to do so you can earn your paints.”

Bitsy hugged the pouch close to his chest in excitement before jumping over and hugging Harry really hard in his attempt to show his joy.

Harry chuckled and reminded the little one to remember to take an older house elf with him when he went to choose his paints.

Sitting down on the floor and staring at Trisky as the little house elf ran out of the room practically squealing in joy.

Trying to figure out the best way to say what needed to be said yet not upset the house elf fidgeting in front of him Harry motioned for her to sit down in front of him.

Closing his eyes as he tried to find a way to say what he needed to without upsetting her, yet letting her understand.

Opening his eyes and seeing that Trisky was close to being terrified thinking she had done something wrong Harry smiled gently.

“Your not in trouble, I need your help in understanding something.” Harry told her softly.

Relaxing slightly Trisky nodded her head slowly still uncomfortable but trying not to show it.

“What is wrong with Bitsy’s female minder?” Harry asked wanting to understand why so few house elves seemed to do most of the work around the outpost.

Panicking, thinking he was about to kick Bitsy’s mother minder out of Sanctuary Trisky started to babble. “Trisky is begging Sir not to make crippled elves go away. We be working very hard to do their share too.”

“Whoa, slow down Trisky.” Harry gently told her. “No one is being told to leave Sanctuary, especially not anyone that is injured or crippled.”

“So that is why so few spend so much time working.” Harry said thinking out loud.

Nodding her head fearfully Trisky did not say a word, afraid she would say the wrong thing.

Piercing Trisky with his gaze Harry told her. “No free house elf will ever be turned away from Sanctuary because they can no longer work.”

Holding attention Harry told her. “We just need to discover things they can do to earn money to buy things they want to.”

Hiccupping slightly as she wiped her tears away with the back of her hand Trisky asked. “Sir Emerald Eyes truly will not make crippled elves go away?”

“Truly, I will never make them go away just because they can not work. They will always have a home here and enough food to eat.” Harry told her as he leaned his head against the back wall.

“If you did not see it as charity I would make sure everyone that could not work had what they needed and needed for their children.” Harry whispered.

Gazing at the house elf sitting in front of him Harry started to get an idea.

“Let me ask you this.” Harry slowly fleshed out an idea. “Can some of these house elves that can’t do much work roll up bandages, or use their magic while they are sitting down to move things around or even to direct mops and brooms as they cleaned?”

Trisky was shocked never before had someone asked a house elf if they could do their work differently, they just threw them away once they were to hurt to walk around and do the work like their masters thought they should.

Too shocked to speak Trisky violently shook her head yes.

“So that is what we will do.” Harry told her. “Any house elf can earn money by doing what they are capable of. It is time to start thinking not like your old masters would have, but as a free being that just because they can not do things like they used, is still a valued member of the community.”

Feeling an unusual presence in the room with them Harry stood up. “Trisky I want you to spread the word to all the injured house elves. Tell them that there is a job for them doing what they are able to, it does not matter to me if they do the work sitting down or standing up.”

Swaying back and forth wanting to hug the wonderful High One in front of her and needing to be seen as industrious and hard working Trisky finally chose to nod her head and smile before popping out.

Dispelling the illusion slowly so as not to startle the young one in front of him Saero said softly once the young one noticed him. “You make me proud young changeling.”

Slightly shocked at seeing one of the legendary High Elves appear in front of him Harry had to hope he was not in any trouble for changing his features to mimic those of the High Elves.

Preparing himself for battle if needed Harry cocked his head to the side and asked hesitantly. “Are the high Elves upset with me for taking on your form?”

Smiling Saero replied. “On the contrary we are very proud of what you have accomplished. And prouder still to call you one of our own.”

Letting go of his magic Harry swayed slightly in relief.

“Is there some place we can sit and talk young one?” Saero asked.

Trisky popped back in all excited. “The elders are happy…” Trailing off in awe as she saw another High One standing and talking to her Sir.

Dropping to her knees Trisky bowed her head as she said. “High One.”

Seeing the high Elf step back in shock Harry quickly said. “Trisky, remember what I told all of you, this is not a way to show us respect that we are comfortable with.”

“Stand up please.” Harry told her as he threw a look at the older High Elf challenging him to dare contradict him.

Showing his hands in the universal I give up gesture Saero softly said. “He is right little one, what you are doing now is not a sign of respect but one of fear.”

Reaching down with a hand to help her up Saero told her. “I for one am not comfortable with a friend showing me such fear.”

Hesitating Trisky reached out her hand and with the help of the High Elf stood up.

“Trisky was it?” Saero asked. “Tell us little one why the elders are so happy.”

Gulping nervously Trisky replied in a high squeaky voice. “Elders are happy Sir Emerald Eyes needs crippled elves and offers them work.”

Raising an eyebrow as he tried to translate the strange speech of the little one he was saved from replying by the young one.

“I think we will go to the library, less chance of being interrupted there.” Harry answered his earlier question.

Smiling at the house elf Harry asked her. “Trisky can you bring us some biscuits and something to drink to the library while we chat?”

Nodding her head fast enough one would think it was in danger of flying off Trisky asked as she looked at the new High Elf. “High One want anything special to drinks.”

Sighing at how easily she fell back into her old speech patterns Harry offered. “Is there anything special you would like to drink?”

Smiling his thanks at the offered translation Saero replied. “Some hot Lemonade would be wonderful, if not anything will do.”

Nodding her head Trisky popped out of the room eager to make the refreshments and have them ready in the library before they could get there.

“This way, I think you will enjoy the view.” Harry told the older High Elf as he pointed the way.

Walking down the hallway towards the library Harry explained. “I know it is sometimes hard to understand the house elves, they seem to fall back into their old speech patterns when they are extremely nervous or afraid.”

“I understand. I observed them from a distance for several days before I approached your home wishing to speak with you.” Saero told him before adding. “It is remarkable that you have been able change their lives for the better so quickly.”

Not sure how to take the compliment Harry instead escorted his guest into the library, and was not surprised to see a plate of biscuits and two steaming pots on a tray along with teacups.

Walking over to the glass window overlooking the waterfall and gorge Saero whispered in awe. “So beautiful, a truly amazing place to sit and relax.”

Turning to face Harry Saero asked when he did not see the books one would expect this being a library. “But what of the tomes and books?”

Chuckling with a childish delight. “This way.” Harry said with a flourish of his arm.

Escorting his guest to the other side of the room and onto the balcony over looking the library Harry smirked. ”This is where I keep the few books in my collection.”

Trying hard to hold in the laugh he truly wanted to let out at the older Elf’s reaction Harry smiled in amusement as he left his guest on the balcony and went back to pour his tea.

Sitting down and pouring a cup of tea and some hot lemonade for his guest Harry munched on a chocolate chip biscuit while his guest made his way slowly back into the room all the while glancing over his shoulder wistfully. Almost as if he was pained to leave so many books behind untouched.

Seeing the young changeling in front of him laughing merrily at him through his eyes Saero chuckled. “You are evil young one. To tempt me with so many unread tomes.”

Taking the cup that was handed to him as he sat Saero picked up one of the flat Biscuits the young one called them and gingerly took a bite.

Surprised at the sweet taste Saero told Harry. “This is very good.”

Setting his teacup down on the table after taking another sip Saero told him. “My mate would have never let me even consider bringing food or drink near the library. I envy you.”

“Where are my manners, I some times forget that not every High Elf knows who I am.” Saero apologized.

“I am the Lord of the Hidden Valley, Saero Rilynneplith. May I ask what name you chose for yourself?” Saero asked.

Seeing the surprised look on the young ones face Saero told him. “Twice in our long history there have been changelings that came to this world. And after meeting them we welcomed them with open arms.”

“In the world I traveled from there was only the old stories, nursery rhymes about the High Elf’s and how they left our world in ages past. We had thought it safe knowing that there were still laws on the books that said that the High Elves could not be considered or held to the ministry of magic’s laws.” Harry’s eyes glazed over in sadness as he remembered Ron’s excitement when they found the changeling potion.

“Toby.” Harry called out.

A second later the house elf popped into the room with a grin on his face. “Sir Emerald Eyes is needing his Toby.”

Eyes widening and bowing slightly towards the other High One in the room Toby waited to be told what he needed to do.

Controlling his sadness Harry asked the house elf. “Toby do you remember in my private library the shelf you put that book on the other day?”

Nodding his head Toby replied. “Toby remembers, the third shelf against the wall.”

Smiling at the house elves memory. “Very good, can you bring me the thick red book on the next shelf down, the one below where you put the book back into?”

Nodding his head Toby snapped his fingers as he popped out of the room and a couple of seconds later popped back in holding the thick red journal in his hands.

“Thank you Toby, you are the best.” Harry said as he accepted the journal.

Facing his guest Harry told him. “This started as a biography of my life, after one of my friends died during the war I started to write in it, expanding on what she had started.”

Handing the book over the Saero Harry whispered in pain. “Ginny was my best friends little sister, the beginning of this journal will show you how I was thought of in my world, She picked it up and told the story from her perspective on what I was. And after she was murdered by the death eaters I wrote in it.”

“My writing shows the world who and what I was.” Harry barley whispered out.

Staring at his guest with a haunted expression Harry told him. “I am trusting you to read this Lord of the Hidden Valley, and only you.”

“On my word of honor young Lord.” Saero gave him his solemn word.

Handing over the journal Harry snapped out of his morass with a little effort and told him. “I am Mytimah Na Arkenea’ghymn in this world.”

The sound of Saero’s breath being indrawn in shock as his eyes widened was very loud in Harry’s ears.

Grimacing Harry pleaded. “Please tell me I am not a pawn of another older prophecy in this world.”

Shaking his head in the negative Saero tried to reassure the young lord. “Nay young Lord, no prophecy, portent or foretelling heralded your arrival in this world.”

“I was surprised that you had chosen so wisely with your new name, though after seeing your library I should not have been shocked.” Saero told him honestly.

“Ancient Mage of the Forgotten, indeed.” Saero mused.

“Your sure no mystic messenger of fate is going to come down and bit me in the ass.” Harry asked cynically.

Breaking out into hysterical laughter Saero reassured him. “Oh I am sure young Lord, no deity in the right mind, or wrong mind for that matter, would want to get on your bad side.”

Finally giving in to laughter Harry snorted a few times at the end as he started to relax.

“Why do you call me young lord?” Harry asked curious.

Shrugging Saero replied. “Because you are the Lord of your lands. Your Sanctuary extends a good day and a half walk from this outpost in any direction.”

“You hold and protect those that are within these borders, as I do for the Hidden Valley, hence by Ancient laws you are the Lord of these lands.” Saero told him before adding. “Not many would take on such a task willingly, but once they have they deserve the respect and title of no less than a Lord.”

Harry really wanted to argue the point, but how could he seeing that by the explanation given he fell right into the Lord category. At least this Title is one he earned for himself, not one foisted on his shoulders.

Opening his mouth to ask another question Harry closed it with a snap and twisted his head towards the healing barn an intense look of concentration coming over his face.

Sensing something was not quite right Saero asked. “Young Lord, what troubles you?”

Not really paying attention Harry answered distracted with what the wards were telling him. “Another Unicorn mare ready for birth and in trouble just appeared in the hospital barn. She is stumbling around like she is drunk. This is the third one this week.”

Eyes widening as he came to a conclusion. “Something is poisoning them. TOBY.” Harry called out after making that observation.

Not even giving the house elf a chance to say anything after popping in the room Harry told him as he moved towards the balcony and the spiral staircase leading down. “Toby I think something is poisoning the Unicorns, I’ll start looking in the potions section, you start in the section dealing with Unicorns.”

Ignoring his guest Harry practically flew from the room and down the stairs.

Surprised and then pleased by the young ones reaction Saero jumped the table and followed intending to help.

Quickly scanning the titles of books his fingers were rapidly crossing Harry pulled several out and willed them to one of the tables where several other house elves started to rapidly skim through placing book marks in potions or antidote description that said was effective against unicorns.

Glancing up to see how many books he had chosen as possibilities as he did not want to many piled up before he started digging through them, only to see a team of house elves skimming through them at a rapid pace and placing book marks inside the books.

Smiling Harry went back to scanning and moving the tomes that looked promising to the table.

Saero deciding the best way to help was to start looking through the books the house elves had marked sat down at the table and started to check the marked entries.

Toby popped back over to the table the rest of the house elves were working at and called out. “Toby is finding book on Unicorns that tells of problems with babies before they is born.”

Stopping his searching Harry ran to the table. “Good job Toby.” He said as he took the book that was extended towards him.

Skimming the entries Harry slowed down at the one that chronicled a black ritual that used pregnant Unicorns as a sacrifice at the moment of birth where the unborn foal arrived still born.

Placing the book down on the table, open to the page he was reading Harry stuttered. “Who would be so evil, this is even worse than taking Unicorn blood by force.”

Harry’s head craned around back towards the hospital barn as he was alerted to another transport through the array.

Paling Harry whispered out. “Heavens above, six…six more just like the first.”

Harry ignored everything else and ran up the stairs like the very hounds of hell were snapping at his ankles.

Pulling the book the young Lord was reading in horror over and skimming down to the name of the poison Saero told the house elves. “Quickly now, find anything you can about Caligo Noctis Animus potion or better yet the antidote.”

Harry slid to stop just inside the barn section of the hospital, panting heavily, Several free house elves that did odd job elsewhere around the outpost where helping out by levitating the sick and dying Unicorns from the transport array over towards the large open area in front of the stalls.

Isty looked around frantically before calming down somewhat and calling out. “Sir Emerald Eyes is here.”

Even though he never ever planned to let any other person have access to the outpost back in his world Harry had stored several spell matrix’s in crystals just in case he would ever need to treat a large number of injured at the same time.

Summoning them to his side from their drawer Harry started sending them out towards each of the poisoned Unicorns as quickly as they appeared in front of him.

Activating the general healing spells stored in the purple crystals with a thought Harry moved quickly between the Unicorns trying to be everywhere at once, While Isty and Misty did their best to bolster the mares and send energy to the dying unborn.

Saero Arrived along with Toby and the other house elves that were helping them research in the library a few minutes later.

“By the Valar we need help.” Saero exclaimed as he took a small crystal from underneath his shirt and pulled it off the chain.

Quickly giving orders for as many trained healers and potion masters to travel to his location, Saero moved along one side of the chaos to be able to direct them when they arrived at the array.

Listening closely to the communication pendant Saero called out. “You need to tell the wards to let my healers through, they can’t shift through your wards.”

Frustrated as the mare in front of him was close to loosing its unborn foal, Harry yelled out. “How in the bloody hell do I do that?

“As Lord you are connected to the central crystal, tell it what you want.” Saero cried out as several more Unicorns showed up this time they were males.

Using what little magic he could control Saero levitated them out of the array and placed them gently over to one side where the house elves that had followed him were waiting for an opportunity to help.

Not sure what Saero was talking about Harry visualized the crystal in the center chamber and remembered what it felt like as he was touching it pouring his magic into it and sent a burst of magic towards it while muttering. “Let those from the hidden valley pass freely.”

A moment later a dozen or so High Elves stepped through a rift that appeared in the center of the transfer array and quickly made their way to the sick unicorns.

Saero seeing one of the potion masters walk towards him held up a book and told him. “I think we have discovered the ritual and potion used to poison them now all we need is a place to set up to brew the antidote.”

Toby who was standing near the older High One heard what he had said and gently tugged the pants leg of the High One to get his attention.

When he saw the High One look down at him Toby Said. “Toby knows where Sir brews his potions, follow me.”

Leading the two High Ones out the side door Toby walked around the corner of the barn and made his way towards a door off the side of the hospital area.

Opening the door Toby motioned for them to enter and pointed towards the clean sterile work area. “Sir Emerald Eyes makes his nasty tasting potions taste better here.”

“Thank you Toby this is perfect.” Saero praised the house elf, knowing how much the positive reinforcement was bringing the little ones along.

Harry was taking a breather as the mare he had been helping started to improve slightly, startled when the mare touched his arm with her horn and thoughts not his own danced in his mind.

“Thank you High One, may the moon bless you for your mercy towards my people.” The Unicorn sent to him.

Caressing the side of her face Harry replied. “Rest now.” Before asking. “How many are in your herd?”

Counting the number of Unicorns in the image he was sent Harry paled when he realized that only half the herd had made it to the array and help.

Conjuring a pen and some parchment Harry quickly penned a note and called out for Toby.

When the house elf approached from behind him. Harry turned and knelt down handing the note over. “Toby I need you to go to the transport array closest to Hogsmeade and find any of the Centaurs and give this note to them, we need help finding the rest of the Unicorn that are sick that have not made it to Sanctuary.”

Toby nodded his head before popping to the array. “Toby will do so quickly.”

Snapping his fingers Toby popped over to the array and looked around trying to find a Centaur.

Sunday

Well lets do a slight recap of whats going on.

AA finished chapter 9 and sent it to Scott

Journey, Scott has chapter 9 so you might get an update this week with chapter 3 posted to the blog

I posted chapter 1 of Heritage on nifty

Wormhole crossing has 3 new chapters making eleven chapters posted

HP Fandom has 2 new chapters posted making it ten chapters posted, you will get the 11th on Wednesday.

I was hoping maybe more feedback would happen with a chapter involving SG-1 heavily in chapter 11 from the folks reading at Wormhole crossing, need to know if it is worth it to keep posting past book 1 there.

The groups files section got the polished chapter 13, though I did notice a few things after I posted it and have fixed them, if you see any thing post it to the group.

look for a new posting of AA to the files section around the end of the week depending on my poor overworked and abused editor :)

He had to have some dental work done so I told him no hurry, and I mean that. His priotirites are health, collage, work then my stories. AS THEY SHOULD BE.

any slow down gives me a chance to stockpile chapters once again, expect that Journey will slow down as AA is taking off once again. At some point it will revers and I will finish journey unless my outline of 15 chapters goes out the window.

knowing me it might be likely. :)

thats all for the moment, except next time I run a contest and I might in the future when I need names for characters, I will double check the picture LOL

And the Winner is

Earl Cauthridge

Earl correctly guessed that the ship in question is the Starlost, from the series of the same name. Who gave a very young Koenig [ commander Chekov ] a walk on role with a return as a alien bad guy.

I expected it to take a lot longer to identify the ship

Welcome Earl, the newest damage control Tech to the Ancients Ascended

Contest

Win a mention in AA as one of the damage control techs if you can correctly identifty the 70's show the pictureof the ark came from

Mini Update

Wrote some at work, but more to the point I have idea's running through my mind on where to take AA.

Also came up with the ending of Riddle in Journey and came up with a hell of a ending, if everything works out.

So I did get some things accomplished today. I think the next chapter of AA should be finished tomorrow.

I am surprised no one has recognized the picture I used for the ark, as in the 70's it has used for the same exact thing I did in my story in a short lived TV show.

Hard science -vs- Fantasy in Sci Fi

As much as I love the so called hard Science Fiction -vs- the fantasy
Science Fiction, I have to say it is so much harder to write for the hard
Science Fiction genre than fantasy.

I spent the past 7 hours writing chapter 9 of Ancients Ascended and the
shear scope of the technology at times is staggering.

Not only do I have to create names for things but then describe them and
come up with working manuals for the tech.

I have only accomplished 3,300 words and my head is killing me LOL

So what is the point of this rambling complaint and tipping of hats to
mainstream writers, not much really other than an update of how things are
progressing.

Journey has a new chapter in to Scott for Beta so it has 9 chapters finished
and I figured out how I am going to deal with old Tommie boy and Dumbledore.

In this story Dumbledore is manipulative for the greater good, his version
of the greater good and that is the problem.

He means well but he has this vision that almost no one else shares or would
share if they knew of it. To bad his vision is so flawed a three year old
could point out the problem with it.

So in this story I get to play with a well meaning and totally oblivious
Dumbledore that through his nudging and machinations for a perfect world is
actually causing its down fall, pretty interesting really.

Lets see you got a new chapter of AA today chapter 6.

A new poll was started to see the best way for me to post my stories to the
group.

And this Sunday I will start posting Heritage on Nifty.

I think I am going to go watch some porn to stop the ooze from leaking out
of my head at the techno-babble I have been working with all day so I can
write some of the sex scenes in later chapters of Heritage.

Get me in the mood so to speak, LOL

And I might as well give you one more new entry to the compendium, a twin
linked quick deploy orbital Astria for major ship movement.

Twin linked Astria

Quick deployed twin linked Astria, able to move large amounts of shipping at one time.

unlike normal Astria that can connect to any other Astria in the network, these are linked only to their twin.

Ch 02 Journey to a New Start

Stretching after a nice dreamless sleep for once, but now that he thought about it ever since he had made the journey to this new world he did not seem to have the nightmares he usually did, it must have been a side effect of the changeling potion he had taken.

Walking into his closet Harry decided to dress in his best battle suit. Skin tight Mithral shimmering in a deep forest green with matching shirt. Pulling on the knee length leather reinforced with Mithral boots Harry chose a emerald green cloak and wrapping it around his shoulders secured the fastenings at the shoulders and each breast before moving towards the kitchen and a quick breakfast.

Thinking that he could get the last of the transport pylons placed this morning and then he would stop at the enclave of free house elves before making his way to Diagon ally and Gringotts.

Leaving the kitchen he made his way down the hallway towards what looked like a dead end atrium style room.

Glancing at the runes inlaid in the floor Harry made sure he was standing over a certain set before he pointed his hand at a certain symbol to his right on the floor and let a burst of magic hit it.

As the transport activated taking him down to the hidden cavern vault Harry thought that his magic was becoming so easy to control now, a simple thought of what he wanted done and his magic responded.

Walking over to the many trunks he had yet to empty, Harry chose one that had about ten million galleons in it. Waving his hand at it and thinking about it floating near his side he watched in satisfaction as it did just what he had thought.

Placing his hand on the top of the trunk once he had stepped back to his arrival point Harry tried a new experiment and touching his magical, core thought about the runes activating sending him back up the ground floor of the outpost.

Smiling in satisfaction as his experiment proved that he no longer needed hand movements to direct his magic, only thought Harry made his way back to the hospital section so he could collect the last six pylon arrays.

Standing in the middle of the transport array in the hospital barn with a trunk a hands reach away on each side, Harry slashed his hand down in front of him as he thought about his destination.

Three hours later as the last Array was glowing with activation Harry smiled at a job well done.

Obscuring the top of his ears slightly with a notice me not charm Harry slashed his hand to open a rift to the hidden enclave of house elves.

Walking out of the rift Harry looked around as frightened cries were heard as the house elves saw an intruder appear in their hidden community.

Seeing several scowling house elves running towards him Harry let the charm around his ears drop and stood there in a non threatening manor waiting for the guardians to notice what he was.

Tackling his companion that was in the process of casting a curse at the intruder Blinky prayed to the old ones he was in time to save his brother.

Most of the other house elves had quieted and stopped panicking when they noticed the ears on the intruder.

The ears were pointy and seeing the waist long hair and sharp angular features of the intruders face and the deep shinning emerald green eyes dropped down to one knee as they recognized one of the High Ones.

Tinky was mad and came up fighting as he yelled at his brother. “Why is you stopping Tinky from hexing intruder.”

Pulling his brother back down Blinky whispered. “Tinky almost cursed a High One, Blinky did not want to loose his brother.”

Tinky snapped his head around towards the intruder and started to shake in fear as he noticed that his brother was right. Standing before them was one of the High Ones of legend.

Tinky prostrated himself fully on the ground wailing. “Please don’t kills Tinky. Tinky did not mean to attack High One.”

Trying to smile in a reassuring way Harry stepped forward and knelt down in front of the trembling house elf.

Gently raising the trembling house elf up off the ground so he could look him in the eyes Harry calmly and as gently as possible said.” It is alright, you did not do anything wrong little one. You wanted to protect your home from what you thought was a threat. That is a good thing.”

Hugging the crying and hiccupping house elf to his breast Harry stood up as he cradled the young elf.

“Shh, little one it is going to be alright.” Harry crooned softly to the awe filled stares of the rest of the House elves kneeling around him.

Smiling down at the house elves brother Harry caressed the elves face in his arms as he softly told him. “Sleep little one, sleep.” Reinforcing it with his magic.

Harry walked over to a small bed he had conjured with a though and placed the now sleeping house elf on it and pulled up a light weight cover, tucking him in.

Stepping back a few steps Harry conjured a comfortable chair to sit in. “Please stand up, there is no need to kneel to me, I am nothing special.”

Blinky looked around at the others as he slowly stood up afraid that he was not showing respect and would be struck down.

The rest of the house elves seeing that Blinky was not struck down slowly got to their feet just as the village elders ran into the clearing.

Yelling loudly at the elves standing around their visitor, “Why is you standing? Showing no respect like this to the High One.” The oldest of the Elders cried out in dismay.

Harry was really starting to become uncomfortable with all the bowing and scraping all the magical creatures he had met so far seemed to be doing.

Sighing Harry gently interrupted the old house elves tirade. “Please, it makes me very uncomfortable when people drop to their knees when they see me. It is bad enough that every being that takes one look at me bows in respect without you lot dropping to the floor.”

Stopping in mid yell hearing the words of the High One, Eldest slowly turned and took the stick from his belt and started to hit himself over the head muttering. “Must punish self for disrespecting the wishes of High One.”

Seeing what the old elf was about to do Harry sent out a surge of magic freezing the old elf before the stick hit his head.

“Stop, you must never punish yourself. Especially for something not in your control.” Harry said fiercely as he caused the stick to turn to dust with a thought.

Elder cringed when his body froze fearing that this was the end.

After hearing the words spoken to him he relaxed slightly but to his shock his stick turned to dust as he was released.

Bowing so deep that his nose was almost touching the ground, Eldest asked. “What can the house elves be doing for the High One?”

Even after all the years of dealing with the hyperactive Dobby, Harry was saddened by the subservience of the proud creatures in front of him.

“Please rise, meet me face to face as the proud person I know you are.” Harry pleaded.

Not believing what he was hearing Eldest slowly brought the top half of his body to a standing up position fearing it was a trick, once he was standing fully once more he looked up to see the gentle smile on the High Ones face.

Relaxing when he saw the gentleness of the High One in front Eldest asked again. “What may the people do for the High One?”

Harry thought back to the book of names he had read a year or so ago as he was fleshing out his plans after deciding on taking the changeling potion, knowing he could not take a human name or even translate his name in case someone could speak Elven and realized he was a Potter.

Smiling at the name he had chosen as the one that most described what he was he spoke. “Please, call me by my name. I am known as Mytimah Na Arkenea’ghymn.”

Seeing how the house elves looked confused as they tried to pronounce his name Harry smirked. If the house elves had trouble so would anyone else he thought, that should ensure his identity stayed shrouded in mystery.

Even if someone did understand enough high Elven to translate his name all they would be able to find out is that he was named, Emerald Eyed Mage Ancient Mage of the Forgotten Way, since Elven names were descriptions.

Chuckling Harry told them. “If it is easier for you call me Emerald Eyes.”

Nodding his head Eldest said in reverence. “High One Emerald Eyes honors us.”

Holding in a groan at he how stubborn house elves were in this universe too, Harry explained the reason for his visit. “I am opening my home up, so it can once again be a Sanctuary for those needing healing and a safe home.”

“I stopped here today to see if I could HIRE some of the free elves to help out with the healing and housekeeping duties that is sure to increase beyond my ability to handle.” Harry told them.

Excited several of the elves started to bounce up and down in place as eldest slowly asked. “You is looking for free house elves to help you heal and take care of high Ones home.”

“Such honor you is bringing us.” Eldest squeaked out.

Once he stood up the chair he was sitting in dissolved into silver sparkles that fell to the ground like a gentle rain.

Pulling out the last array out of the invisible trunk floating near him Harry walked a few meters away from the group of house elves and placed it on the ground.

Hand glowing with raw magic Harry placed his hand on each of the stone pylons causing it to grow and stepped back as it started to slowly expand back to its original size.

Once full size once again the array blinked once and settled down to a soft glow showing that it was working properly.

Pointing to the array Harry told them as he prepared to leave. “Remember those that come work for me will be paid and have set hours, I do not want slaves like the wizards do. I want the help of free people.”

“Step inside the circle and call out Sanctuary to be transported to my home, this is the only way one can get there.” Harry told them before slashing his hand down opening another rift and walking through it.

Glad that no one was in the short ally behind the Leaky Cauldron that was the entry to Diagon Ally Harry recast the notice me not charm on his ears and touched the bricks in order to open the archway.

Walking down the street with his now visible trunks following next to him Harry scanned from side to side as he took in the slight changes to the ally.

Walking up the steps that would lead to the Gringotts lobby Harry ignored the self-casting spell woven into the door and stepped inside.

Ignoring the rude stares by those waiting in line Harry stood there waiting until a teller was free so he could get his business over with and go back home and rest.

Finally a teller near the end had his customer walk away and look up.

Walking up to the surly Goblin Harry bowed his head ever so slightly and told him. “Greetings, if you could direct me to a free account manager I would like to open a high security vault and make a rather large deposit.”

Sneering at the youngster in front of him Toothrock spat out. with some venom. “Leave you foolish boy, come back with your parents to open an account properly. You waste my time.”

Jumping off the stool the Goblin huffed his way out of the lobby.

Holding onto his temper with as much control as he could, Harry thought that in this world the Goblins were just as hateful and bigoted of wizards as in his.

Not about to be turned down Harry noticed a goblin that mirrored one he knew back in his world. Walking over to the young Goblin standing near the entrance the cart tunnels Harry spoke up coldly.

“Griphook this is your one and only chance of saving the Goblin Nation the embarrassment that is about to befall you before I walk out of here and go directly to the press and announce that my money is not only not good enough to be placed in this bank according to your people but is more than likely not safe either.”

Turning towards the human that knew his name even though this was his first day as a cart operator Griphook raised an eyebrow as a question at the young boy in front of him.

Seeing he had the young Goblins attention Harry told him. “I am in need of an account manager to open a vault and make a deposit, this is the last time I will ask before carrying through on my promise.”

Watchblock who was closest to the two overheard the threat and knowing that Toothrock had indeed insulted the young human and seeing how innocent he looked knew that the ministry and news reporters would have a field day with his story interrupted before the young one could answer.

“Griphook take the young master to my office I shall join you there in a moment.” Watchblock ordered.

As Griphook escorted the youngster down the tunnel Watchblock finished up the transaction with the human in front of him and placed a closed sign on his desk.

Penning a quick note to the bank manager on the threat the youngster had just uttered because of Toothrock’s actions and that he would be taking the youngster to his office, he placed the finished note into the urgent box and watched in satisfaction as it disappeared.

Jumping off his stool and grumbled about fools as he made his way back to the tunnel and his office.

Telling Griphook to return to his post as he passed him, Watchblock opened the door to his office and made his way to the other side of his desk.

Sitting down he looked the youngster over closely, something seemed to be off with the boy. Noticing the charm around the boys ears he disregarded it as not worthy of his attention.

“Gringotts bylaws along with the treaty with the ministry of magic requires permission of your parents before any transaction takes place, that includes opening up new vaults.” Watchblock slowly told the boy.

Smirking Harry replied. “Then it is a good thing I am a lot older than I look.” As he pulled the trunk in front of him and opened the lid, showing the Goblin how full it was.

Looking at the large amount of gold in the trunk in front of him Watchblock decided to humor the human boy and pulled some forms out of the drawer and started to fill them out.

“Name on the account?” Watchblock asked.

Smirking at the reaction he was about to get Harry replied. “Mytimah Na Arkenea’ghymn.”

Pushing down on the quill so hard that it broke in two hearing the name Watchblock snapped his head up and looked at the youth sitting in front of him.

With a trembling hand Watchblock pulled anew quill out of the drawer and started to fill in the information again.

Hand still trembling Watchblock stuttered out his next question. “Amount of deposit?”

Enjoying the Goblins unease and fear way to much Harry replied. “Ten million galleons or so.”

A snapping sound could be heard as Watchblock broke another quill in shock at the boys answer.

Looking down at the form on the desk in front of him the only thing going through his mind was he was thankful he had not ruined another sheet, he did not think he could stand starting over again.

Gulping in a nervous panic Watchblock stared in fear at he boy in front of him.

Harry sensing several Goblins approaching was not surprised to see the old goblin dresses regally walk around the desk while several burly looking Goblins took up station around the room weapons drawn.

Taking in the sight of one of his more experienced account managers trembling in front of the young boy and the surprisingly full trunk of gold in front of the desk looked between the smirking human and the partially filled out form on the desk.

Paling in shock as he read the name filled out in the account holder box Glathrock snapped his head up towards the boy sitting in front of them.

“Who are you, that you would use a name like this?” Glathrock demanded trying not to shake in fear.

I am enjoying this way too much Harry thought, even though it feels good to get a slight revenge on the Goblins for the way they had treated him in his world he really needed to get on with his day.

Canceling the charm around his ears Harry’s smile was one that promised pain and retribution. “You have my name and you know what I am, so the question is do I walk out of here with my gold to hand it over to a muggle bank or do we finish this so I can be about my business Horde Leader.”

Watchblock could not take it any more as the most ancient creature of nightmares revealed itself in his office. Legend had it that long ago the Goblin people went to war against the ones they felt slighted them, as soon as the declaration was made every single Goblin warrior fell to the ground dead and a single figure appeared in the village, a figure that had ears just like this one, and told them to raise arms against them meant death.

Watchblock keened loudly as he fell off the stool in a dead faint.

Glathrock started to hyperventilate in fear as he truly saw the High One in front of him.

Shaking his head in regret Harry closed the lid of the trunk and willed it to levitate.

Standing up he ignored the security Goblins and started to walk out the door.

“If the sight of me instills so much fear in your people we will never be able to work together.” Harry said sadly, regretting a little bit how he played with the emotions of the Goblins out of a need for revenge for something that happened in another world.

Walking down the corridor Harry reapplied the charm hiding his ears as he grew nearer to the lobby.

Maybe it is for the best Harry thought, I can always set up a small room off the kitchen where the house elves can just grab as much gold as they need to buy the supplies needed to keep Sanctuary functioning.

Startled out of his thoughts as he entered the busy lobby by the call he had set up to notify him of one being injured and transported to the hospital barn, Harry growled out rudely to one of the adults that had gotten to close to him and slashed his hand down opening a rift which he quickly walked through.

Leaving chaos behind him as alarms started to ring out and wizards started to panic.

Walking the few steps to the injured Sphinx Harry left the trunk waiting with a though as he pointed his hand at the injured creature before him and started to scan it for injuries.

Hearing a couple of pops that sounded like house elf appearing Harry was pleased to see two house elves bringing in bandages and potion supplies as they started forward to help treat the injured sphinx.

Levitating the injured Sphinx so that its injuries would be more accessible for treatment Harry started using his magic to heal the internal injuries as the house elf that seemed to be the leader of the two started using its own brand of magic to heal the sphinx.

Having stopped the internal bleeding and cleared the lungs of blood Harry fused the broken ribs temporarily as he righted the male sphinx so he would breath easier.

Selecting one of the universal Skele-Gro potions from the littlest elves hands Harry gently opened the Sphinx’s mouth and massaged his neck so he would swallow the potion.

Absent mindedly banishing the empty vial back to his potion workroom Harry performed another scan and saw that the sphinx was out of danger.

Seeing that the house elf was finished also Harry laid a hand gently on his floating patient and pulled him towards one of the open stalls that had several bales of straw along one wall.

Arranging the bales of straw to support the unconscious sphinx Harry used his magic to gently set him down so that he would not put pressure on his already weak ribs.

“Thank you for your speedy help.” Harry told the two house elves that followed him out of the stall.

“Isty is pleased that High One thinks Isty does good job.” The house elf beamed in pride as its companion bounced in delight.

Harry had to roll the answer around in his mind for a moment to make sense of what he had been told.

Priority one, find a way to educate the house elves so that their speech pattern improves, Harry made a mental note for himself.

The house elf interrupted his thoughts with, “This is Misty, I is teaching Misty duties of healer.”

“Welcome both of you to Sanctuary. You should be able to handle the patient from here on by yourselves, but call me if you need help.” Harry told the two beaming elves as he made his way towards the main section of the outpost.

Several steps later Harry remembered the trunk he had left floating near the transport circle and willed it to follow him.

Walking into the kitchen Harry was surprised when another house elf popped into the room and asked. “Is Sir Emerald Eyes be wanting lunch?”

.
Telling himself that he was the one that asked the free house elves for help and invited them into his home Harry replied as he opened the door of one of the empty pantries. “That would be nice, thank you.”

Pulling the trunk into the pantry and setting it on the floor Harry opened the lid and spelled it to stay open and summoned several leather money sacks hanging them on the hooks next to the trunk.

There that should work Harry thought as he was interrupted by the house elf again as she told him lunch was ready.

Stopping the elf from leaving Harry told her. “See this chest full of Galleons?”

Waiting for the house elf to nod her head, as her eyes widened in shock at the amount of gold in the chest.

“This is to buy anything Sanctuary needs. Anything from food to medicines or supplies will come out of this chest.” Harry told her.

Moving over to the table he let his sense roam around the outpost and to his shock it looked like all the free elves had relocated to Sanctuary.

Seeing fresh bread next to a large steaming bowl of stew Harry thanked the little house elf much to her embarrassment.

Catching out of the corner of his eye the house elf called Eldest Harry motioned for him to sit across from him at the table.

“Would you like a bowl of stew, it is quite good?” Harry offered the shocked elder.

Shaking his head almost violently no, the thought of being invited to sit and eat with one of the High Ones was a little too much for him to handle.

Waiting patiently for Emerald Eyes to finish his lunch eldest gingerly sat down across from him most uncomfortable to be sitting in his presence.

Seeing at how nervous the old house elf was Harry told him gently. “Eldest there is nothing to be frightened about, I am not going to be mad or yell at you.”

Finishing his bowl of stew and the bread, but still slightly hungry Harry looked over towards the hearth to see if the post was still on.

Seeing that it was and that it was still somewhat on the full side Harry picked up his bowl and started towards the pot hanging in the hearth only to be stopped by the same house elf that asked if he was hungry earlier.

“Sir Emerald Eyes is not to be doing Trisky’s job, if Sir wants more Sir only needs to ask Trisky.” The house elf scolded.

Grinning sheepishly Harry told her. “Thank you Trisky, you do know I am not one of those lazy wizards don’t you?”

Placing the filled bowl back on the table in front of Harry Trisky scolded him. “Sir Emerald Eyes has much too many important things to be doing than fixing his food.”

Placing a sad look on his face Harry told her. “Trisky, I like to cook it relaxes me.”

Turning around and scowling at Harry she placed her hands on her hips and sighed in defeat. ‘Sir Emerald Eyes may fix Sunday lunch.”

Than shaking her finger at him she told him before walking away. “But Trisky only letting Sir fix lunch.”

Laughing at the antics of the female house elf Harry dug into the second helping as he watched Eldest eyes try to pop out of his head in shock.

Pausing between bites Harry asked. “Eldest did your whole village come to Sanctuary?”

Going from shocked to slightly fearful Eldest nodded his head not wanting to reply in case they were thrown out.

Sighing silently at the fearful attitude of the elder house elf in front of him Harry thought about where he could set their village up at.

Finishing his stew Harry sat there for a moment longer lost in thought, until he remembered the project he had started several years ago as he was learning green magic in an attempt to grow shelters for his friends hidden from prying eyes.

Yes they would be perfect, especially with the amount of magic the house elves gave off strengthening the trees.

“Eldest I would like to show you several things, would you walk with me?” Harry asked.

Jumping down off the chair Eldest nodded his head still not trusting that he would say the wrong thing.

Escorting him over to the pantry Harry showed him the trunk full of gold. “This is a small fraction of the wealth stored here at the outpost. Please let your people know that any purchases that needs to be made this is where they should get the money to do so.”

Finding his voice eldest said softly. “Yes High One we wills be very careful spending your gold.”

Sighing Harry tried a different way. “Eldest even if you could spend all the gold in this chest, you still could not spend all the gold in my vaults even as long lived as I will be.”

Eyes bugging out in surprise as he looked between the sincere expression on Harry’s face and the large amount of gold in front of him Eldest nodded his head in understanding.

Escorting the old house elf out the kitchen door into the side garden Harry started walking across the glade towards the forest.

Seeing several groups of house elves setting up what looked like temporary tents amongst the tree’s Harry called out. “Hold on there, if you all would follow me I will show you a better place to set up your homes.”

Hoping that he had pitched the request in a way that the elves would not fear where they were going or think they were being kicked out Harry led the group of several hundred elves to a grove of large house trees he had planted years ago and aged during one of the heavier storms that year.

Placing his hand on the knot on the trunk of the closest tree as the house elves gathered around him with their meager belongings Harry started his explanation. “These trees are called house trees. “

“These trees have many different levels and rooms that form as the tree grows. To open the door you place your hand on the knot next to the small hole in the trunk and the door will open for you..

There are stairs running around the inside and off of the stairs are different doors leading to small apartments and rooms inside the center of the tree.” Harry told them.

“I want you to make your homes inside here, you will be safe from discovery and only the High Elves have the secret of growing these trees, so even if a wizard would find their way here they would never be able to find you.” Harry smiled at them.

One of the braver young house elves poked his head through the door and noticed another door several steps inside the tree. Walking inside he placed his hand on the knot next to the door and was amazed that it opened for him.

Stepping inside he was amazed at the size of the room, not only the size but the windows that could not be seen from outside let in so much light. Exploring further he found several more rooms that would make good bedrooms each having a small window of their own.

Running back outside he squealed in delight. “Elders you must look. The most beautiful homes inside.”

As more and more of the house elves explored the tree and the homes it hid inside several of the female elders came back outside with tears in their eyes saying. “Sir Emerald Eyes is too kind. Sir has given us real homes of our own.”

Motioning for the elders to gather around him Harry knelt down so he could face them eye to eye. “This is now your home. So if you need furniture or anything else to make this place yours let me know. Eldest knows where the gold is kept for anything needing to be bought for Sanctuary. I am ordering you to use it to make these rooms comfortable, as comfortable as if they were mine.”

Seeing how uncomfortable they were with the idea Harry added. “You can pay me back if you wish out of the wages you are being paid.”

“Paid.” One of the elders said in horror.

“Yes paid.” Harry said firmly. “Every free house elf working for me is to be paid twenty five galleons every two weeks.”

Seeing all of them were horror stricken at he thought Harry added. “Anything less would be a slight to the honor of the High Elves.”

Gotcha Harry thought as they changed their mind muttering to themselves that it would not be proper to insult the honor of one of the High Ones.

“I will leave you to settling in then, this grove has twenty of the house trees, let me know if it’s not enough.” Harry told them as he walked away.
