Chapter 6
Walking into the library it was all Harry could do not to laugh at the conversation he was now hearing.
“Its not fair I tell you. All those tomes and books calling to me and I can’t even step on the top step leading down to the floor.” Naithar wailed at the unfairness of it all from the balcony to Saero on the Library floor below.
Hearing Saero’s laughter carry across the room Harry had to laugh when Naithar shook his fist as he yelled down. “You are evil…Evil I tell you. The least you could do is to bring me some of those lovely books to enjoy.”
“Naithar stop your whining. And Saero stop teasing the poor Elf, he might spontaneously combust if you keep that up and that is not a good thing to happen around so many books.” Harry laughed at their antics.
Naithar whirling around at laughter behind him tried his best to look like a kicked puppy but failed.
Leaning over the edge of the balcony Harry smirked at the Lord of the Hidden Valley dancing around down below as a taunt to the other. “So you did tease him on purpose.”
Laughing Saero leapt up the stairs two at a time telling him. “Sure its not my fault he could not follow me down here, or that fact he was drooling on the floor at the sight of so many books in front of him that it left him trembling with anticipation.”
Harry fell onto the couch in laughter after Naithar tried to protest. “It was a leg cramp from being dragged to this room so quickly not anticipation.”
Calming down Harry sat up. “Thank you, both of you I needed that.”
“Hard day Young Lord?” Saero inquired.
After recounting his morning where he had both of them rolling around in laughter at the vision of Dumbledore fishing in a stream in retaliation for his verbal fishing trips Harry asked. “Just what did the High Elves do to the Goblins that leaves them trembling in fear unable to move at the sight of us.”
Smiling at hearing the young Lord say us instead of you Saero told him. “Ever have a story after many retellings and years grow so larger than life that it no longer is any where near what actually happened?”
Shaking his head Harry replied. “Story of my life.”
“Something similar happened here.” Saero told him the tale. “Long ago a small tribe of Goblins decided to declare war on a traveling group of elves. Hearing this the guide used his magic to kill those that had fallen into bloodlust and scared the rest into never even thinking about attacking one of our people. Over time it has changed to us killing every warrior world wide in the blink of an eye after the declaration of war had been uttered.”
“It is so easy for the young races to believe anything they hear about us because we are such a private people, preferring our own company rather than mixing.” Naithar added.
Harry grimaced at those words knowing he certainly was making a stir amongst the Wizarding world. “Yes well about that it seems I have not been as careful as I could have been.”
“Do not worry so much young Lord.” Saero told him jovially. “You are a catalyst for change, it is your job to stir things up by just being you.”
Naithar seeing Mytimah grimace told him. “Stop that. This is not something you control it is who you are. You make the world a better place by just doing what you are doing now.”
Harry shook his head, not sure he agreed with him or not but he was willing to let it drop for now. “So what brings you two here today?”
“Well I wanted to check on the Unicorns and make sure they were doing alright, even knowing that if they took a turn for the worse you would have called us back. But mostly I wanted to take a look at one of the House trees in the daylight, the idea of their creation fascinates me to no end.” Naithar told him.
“And I am here on two pieces of business then I plan to roam around in the bottom of the gorge, I noticed some plants growing down there I have never seen before.” Saero told him his reasons for coming today.
Harry stared at him blankly for a moment before standing up and motioning for them to follow him. “We can talk on the way to the grove. I need to take a look at how many are ready for harvest anyway now that Sanctuary increased in size.”
Following Harry out of the door Saero asked. “What do you mean now that Sanctuary increased in size?”
“That’s the thing the old boundaries of Sanctuary could be reached a good half days hard march.” Harry told him.
Turning the corner Saero interrupted. “I remember, and it was patrolled by this incredible looking Sphinx.”
“So that is where he went off to.” Harry mused out loud before continuing. “As I was saying when I woke up this morning I was extremely weak and when I checked my core had been severely depleted, after looking at the map of the grounds I saw why.”
Entering the kitchen Harry stopped at the map on the wall and pointed to it. “Some how Sanctuary has increased in size exponentially. It will now take five days of hard running to reach the borders.”
Saero opened and closed his mouth several times as he tried to understand the magic that would make this possible. “How can you be up and around and energetic if your core is so depleted?”
“That’s the thing, after seeing how much my holdings had increased I went to the central chamber where the control crystal is that holds the wards and protections and noticed the crystal had also grown. After touching it to see if it was an illusionary growth or physical my core was refilled.”
“Was this typical of your world, this crystal based magic?” Saero asked as he looked in wonder at the map, you could cross the Hidden Valley in two days, and here it would take ten to go from one side to the other.
Really thinking about it Harry answered slowly. “It was not common use to use crystals, it was one of the things that gave me such a huge advantage in the war being able to store spells and magic like I did.”
“Now that I think on it, I discovered the books that I learned this magic from here in this outpost, this was my secret hidden Sanctuary from the war and the world.” Harry said as he moved towards the door leading to the yard.
Thinking back to what he had read so far in the journal he had been loaned on Harry’s life Saero said. “Wait a minute, I know you planned this trip for several years and made preparations.”
Following him outside Saero asked. “Do you mean to tell me you brought more than a few belongings and yourself to this world? Are you saying you brought this building with you also?”
Shrugging his shoulders Harry answered. “I spent several years powering several large crystals around my holding and tying them in with the central crystal so that when I made the jump buildings and all would come through with me and the protections would be active the moment we arrived.” Including my hidden cavern full of gold and gems.
“Incredible.” Saero whispered in awe.
“This ties in on of the reasons I came here today.” Saero told him as he waved at some of the little beings happily toiling in the large gardens.
Trying to phrase it is such a way Harry would not dismiss it out of hand. “Some of our people would like to move here and study some of the new things and magic’s you brought with you.”
“I don’t see a problem with that.” Harry said before he rounded on him with horror. “Are you asking me to become a teacher?”
“You have the single largest repository of knowledge on this planet right now. What the other Lords and I are asking is to open up your holding to those that want to learn and for you to be available to steer in the right direction those who choose to learn what this place has to offer.” Saero tried to make it sound like something else.
“You are asking me to teach the teachers.” Harry snorted in amusement. “No matter how you word it Saero you are asking me to teach.”
“I suppose I am.” Saero said with a smile.
Stopping in front of the grove Harry thought about what was being asked of him as he stared at the trees in front of him loaded down with seeds.
Naithar at the first sight of the trees had rushed ahead so he could get a better look yelled back. “How do you get inside?”
Facing Saero as he made his decision Harry told him. “Alright, limited teaching and if I can point them in the right direction instead that will have to do for now.”
“Agreed.” Saero practically yelled the answer, happy Harry was willing to share his knowledge and skills.
“Mytimah.” Naithar yelled out in impatience at being ignored.
“We better get over there before he gets any more impatient and drags you over to the tree kicking and screaming.” Saero laughed and waved at the Elvin healer just to annoy him.
Harry looked over his shoulder and seeing the Elf scowling whispered. “He probably would do it too.”
Laughing as he started to walk into the grove Saero replied. “No probably about it.”
Grinning Harry walked over to the impatient Elf and told him. “See the knot, the one that is a slightly darker color next to the hole in the trunk.”
Waiting until Naithar told him he did, Harry explained. “Touch it and feed it a bit of your magic and the door will open.”
Grinning like a three year old on his birthday as he opened his gifts, Naithar did as he was told and jumped in joy when the trunk opened up with a doorway.
Peeking his head inside Naithar was startled to find a staircase that had a gentle rise as it circled the outside of the tree. “I would have though it opened up into a dwelling?”
Shaking his head no Harry told him as he stepped inside and pointed to another knot off to one side on the inner trunk. “There are around fifteen levels in a mature tree, each level has its own door and is a separate dwelling.”
Activating the knot with a burst of his magic Harry walked in the room and gazed at the crystal laying on the floor.
Warning the other to avoid stepping on the crystal Harry noticed that it would need to be recharged in another month.
Leaning over to get a better look at the crystal lying on the floor Saero asked. “Why do you have one of your crystals placed where it could be trampled?”
“Normally you do not need any other source of magic to keep the tree strong and healthy as it takes what is needed from the ambient magic of those that reside inside give off.” Harry told him as he showed Naithar some of the peculiarities of the house tree.
“Since there are no magical beings living inside I needed a way to add the magic needed so the tree would mature its seed pods. Hence the crystals.” Harry explained.
Naithar was ecstatic with what he was seeing and opening up the loo he asked. “How in the name of the Valar do you handle waste?”
“Ah, it all runs down an elongated Vacuole to the root system of the tree where it is converted to food to support its continued growth.” Harry explained to the Excited Elf.
“Unbelievable what you have created using this green magic you were telling me about.” Naithar told him before blurting out. “So when can I get my hands on a seed pod so I can plant my own house tree?”
Escorting the two out side Harry went over to one of the pod laden branches and closely examined one.
“Well you could take one today if you were willing to plant it in the next hour, no longer than and hour and a half.” Harry told him.
“I can do that, I have the perfect place to plant it, not to far or to near a gentle rambling stream that rambles through this meadow not far outside the village.” Naithar gleamed as he thought about moving into the tree.
“You do know it will take a little bit before it is large enough to live in right?” Harry asked.
“I remember you saying that you could accelerate the growth with magic. Several of us are planning on feeding our magic to the tree so it will mature quicker.” Naithar responded.
“The pod is viable right now, but still a few days from maturity. Maturity would give it the opportunity to be viable for up to a weeks time until hit by a stray bit of magic initiating the growth cycle.” Harry told them.
“What you need to do his trickle a bit of your magic into the pod after pushing it halfway into the soil. That will initiate the growth cycle. Once the tree starts to sprout direct a steady stream of water near its roots and feed a good bit of magic into it by direct contact, until it is around two meters tall.” Harry explained while Naithar wrote the instructions down on a note pad he pulled from his pocket.
“When can we start feeding it magic for its next growth spurt?” Naithar asked looking up from his notes.
“What you need to do next is spend a couple of days burying at different levels wine cask size pockets of concentrated fertilizer. Spread them out starting at a meter and a half from the sapling and then every two meters there after. Make sure the farther you go out from the trunk the deeper the pockets are.” Harry waited until Naithar caught up writing his notes and looked up again eager to hear more.
“Then wait until a heavy downpour, the heavier the better and feed the magic to the tree as fast as it will accept it.” Harry then warned him. “Though the moment the rain stops you need to also. Do not feed the tree any significant amounts of magic to force growth unless there is enough moisture falling to supply the trees rapid growth.”
“After that it is a matter of letting the tree settle down for a week once it is around thirty meters tall and then you can move in.” Harry finished his lesson with a smile. “It takes a couple of hours before the tree will strengthen completely for habitation once it senses magic inside it, and once all level as are inhabited it will start to grow upwards at the rate of a level a year as long as you keep each level inhabited.”
“What is the maximum height then?” Naithar asked.
“I really don’t know as I never have tried to find out.” Harry said thoughtfully.
Looking around Naithar spotted a nice big brown pod and rushed over to it. “This one…Can I have this one.”
Laughing at the Elf’s eagerness Harry walked over so he could show him how to harvest the pods. “To harvest you place a finger here and push your magic at this joint until it falls away, baring that you let them mature and fall to the ground and levitate them to where you want to plant them, as the slightest bit of magic once they mature will cause them to sprout.”
Naithar gently placed his finger on the stem at the joint that was pointed out to him and sent a small burst of scanning magic at the joint.
Ecstatic when the heavy pod came loose in his hands Naithar almost dropped it not realizing how heavy it was. “It’s heavier than I thought.”
Cradling the pod to his chest he seemed to suddenly realize that the clock was ticking and took off running towards the array so he could open a rift to go back home and he yelled out. “Thank you.” As he passed the top of the hill.
“Well he will be out from underfoot for several weeks until he has grown that tree.” Saero laughed.
“The second part of my business is in two parts. The first was to ask you to allow those from the other two Elvin lands through your wards, which would tie in with you allowing others to come here to study.” Saero informed him that they needed his permission to travel through the wards.
“I can do that, it might be easier to allow any High Elf travel access to the array’s. And the second part?” Harry asked.
This was the tricky part. Saero knew the young Lord wanted peace and solitude after the years of battling it out in a war. “The other Lords and I were wondering if you would allow some of our people to make their homes in your lands?”
Harry stared at the Lord in front of him as if he lost his mind, in fact he even came out and said so. “Are you out of your mind, do you really believe that anyone would want to come live in my lands placing themselves in effect under the rule of a youngster?”
Very glad he had prepared for this, “Young Lord do not forget your body may be young but you hold three times as many years in knowledge and experience.” Saero told him as he took a scroll out of his pocket and with a snap of his wrist opened it letting it fall to the ground and roll for another meter.
It was covered in names.
“To answer your question, I believe this scroll of names provide proof that they do.” Saero told him with a smile as he watched the young Lord sit on the ground rather hard.
“Unbelievable.” Harry muttered as he stared at the long list of names.
“Not only that I do believe that there will be a fair amount of offers of trade arriving at your doorstop soon, all clamoring for house tree pods.” Saero decided to add the last shock to get them all out of the way at once.
Still staring at the list Harry squeaked out, “They all want to come live here?” As he pointed at the list lying partially on the ground.
“Is it so hard for you to fathom that others would want to live with you as their lord just because you offer them some thing new and different. “Saero asked quietly.
“Those on the list are the dreamers, the young wanting adventure, even those that are older wanting to learn new things. They all have the common thread that they are those that are the forward thinkers and explorers amongst out kind. Those that go forth and build a better world for the rest to follow.” Saero told him with such conviction Harry began to believe.
Looking at the grove of six mature pod producers and then the list several times back and forth Harry finally gave in.
” I think this years crop of pods are spoken for, especially if that many want to move here.” Harry said pointing to the list as he stood up.
Laughing Saero replied. “Lord Trava’in will be so disappointed when I tell him that. I may even have to rub it in we were given a pod first.”
Laughing at the gentle rivalry that seemed to take place between the lords Harry was laughing so hard he ended up leaning against one of the runic pylons that were found all over his holding and he froze in mid laugh.
Saero turned around at the sudden sound of laughter being stopped mid stream to see Mytimah, eyes glazed over and colorless as magic seemed to dance over the eye itself.
Worried Saero hurried to his side and hesitated to reach out and touch the young lord in case it was the wrong thing to do.
Luckily he did not have to test that theory as Harry came out of the trance with a groan. “That was unexpected.”
“What happened Mytimah? Your eyes the became colorless and I could see magic dancing across them.” Saero asked with concern.
Eyes showing wonder Harry whispered. “I know why Sanctuary grew like it did.”
“Can you see magic?” Harry asked excitedly at the revelation he had just witnessed.
“To a certain extent I can. Why?” Saero was just a little confused.
“This place…This place is a huge convergence of magic. A nexus where all the different flows meet in the center like streams feeding into a lake.” Harry told him as he looked along the ground eyes glowing.
“And I hopped my whole outpost directly in the center of the largest lake of magic I have ever seen.” Harry’s voice carried his awe at what he was seeing.
Shaking his head in sadness Saero replied wistfully. “I do not have such a gift to see magic like you do. It must truly be a wondrous sight to behold.”
Not paying attention Harry muttered to himself. “I wonder.” Before running back over to the grove and picking one of the pods.
Chanting under his breath as his hands and pod glowed the brilliant green of living things Harry quickly walked across the clearing and past the gardens and towards the other side of the outpost all the while chanting as he walked.
Saero curious on what the young lord was up to and then realizing he was seeing green magic being preformed in front of him walked sideways watching and listening closely.
Walking a good fifteen minutes into the woods trailing a long line of High Elves and house elves who were following him curious to see what he was doing, Harry neared a clearing next to a fast moving stream.
Walking to the edge of the stream Harry started to pace off his steps until he was a good fifteen meters away from the stream.
Using the heel of his boot Harry kicked up a patch of the sod exposing the ground and knelt down and slammed the pod into the dirt.
Holding onto the pod Harry’s chant picked up volume as the pod sprouted and sent up it first branches.
Once the pod dissolved Harry moved his hand to the trunk of the sapling chanting all the while, directing the saplings roots to tap into the lake of magic below the ground.
Once the saplings roots tapped into he magic Harry stopped chanting and jumped back as he watched the tree start to take shape.
Slowly the tree started to grow as Harry channeled water to shower down on the tree.
Several of the house elves seeing their Sir watering the tree decided to help and started their own streams to cascade down.
Summoning some of the compressed Dragon dung he had stored in one of the outer sheds Harry started to insert them into the ground in spaced intervals around the tree. All the while keeping watch on the magic that was running through the house tree as it grew and shaped itself.
Seeing that the tree was slowing down its rapid growth Harry called off the cascade of water and thanked the house elves for their help.
Seeing the joy on Harry’s face Saero asked. “What in the world was that all about?”
Grinning Harry turned around with a new bounce in his step. “I had a sudden inspiration seeing the large amount of magic underneath us.”
“I convinced the new sapling to send its roots deep enough so that it would be able to tap into the magic found under us and you saw how quickly it grew and took shape.” Harry was beaming in excitement. “It took me days of preparations and several hours worth of my magic to get one of the house trees to this point before.”
“Just think how quickly we can grow new houses by doing it this way.” Harry was giddy and felt like running around shouting out hurrah.
“Congratulations Young lord on this masterful piece of magic.” Saero beamed, Harry’s excitement was infectious.
Looking around the clearing Harry figured they could plant another thirty of the trees without a problem.
Smiling Harry said out loud. “I don’t know about any of you but I missed lunch and am starting to get hungry.”
“Care to join me in a snack Saero?” Harry asked as he started back towards the outpost.
“I do believe I can be tempted young lord. After tasting the meal she made and not to mention the snacks I do not think it would be wise to miss out on the wonders of Trisky’s cooking.” Saero said falling into step.
The two of them were still chatting about green magic when they entered the kitchen twenty minutes later looking for food.
Thanking Trisky as she brought over a plate of brownies for them to munch on while she finished adding the ingredients to the soup that was to go with supper later on.
Staring at the map on the wall Harry conjured a duplicate and started to inscribe runes around the edge that would allow him to zoom in on a particular area.
Finished Harry tapped the map near the outpost and it enlarged like it was supposed to. Satisfied that it was working, Harry started to spell it so that it would show communities and buildings not just the boundaries and runic pylons.
Sensing the quizzical stare he was getting from Saero Harry explained what he had done while walking over to the map on the wall and opening the case. “These maps are linked to the master map in the central chamber. By making a change on one it will blend with the master copy and then the others will reflect the changes.”
Placing the copy over the one in the case Harry whispered a couple of words to low to hear and the two maps melted into one another.
“Later on, when I have some time I can sit down and plan out a few villages. Those that want to move here can then move into one of them or find a place to build their own.” Harry let his thoughts on the subject be known.
Then reaching for another brownie Harry remembered that he said he would adjust the wards and as he sat down placed his hand above his head and closing his eyes briefly felt for his connection with his magic and reached for the central crystal.
A short burst of bright magic left his hand and went through the roof to splash against the nearest runic pylon on top of the grass covered building.
Opening his eyes Harry told him. “I adjusted the wards before I forgot. Now any High Elf can journey here, thought they will arrive at one of the array’s.”
“Which reminds me I need to set up a few more around the area so everyone does not keep arriving at the one in the hospital barn.” Harry mused to himself.
“Now that the wards have been adjusted can’t we just shift wherever?” Saero asked as he motioned also with his hand.
Shaking his head no Harry told him. “Oh you can shift as much as you like underneath the wards. But to enter or exit you need to be at one of the arrays. That I can’t adjust as it would bring everything down in a spectacular cascade, and they took me years to put up.”
Looking at the angle of the sun Saero jumped up. “I have stayed longer than I planned and taken up enough of your time already.”
“Not a problem, you are welcome to stay for supper if you want. And you are welcome to stop by any time you want to.” Harry replied sincerely liking the older Elf’s visits.
“I have a dinner to go to tonight, my nephew’s birthday, otherwise I would stay. I have seen and learned so many interesting things since meeting you and can’t wait until I can start learning what you have to teach us.” Saero said as he walked alongside Harry back towards the hospital.
“How old is you nephew?” Harry asked to make conversation, wondering if he would have an appropriate small gift to send along.
Laughing Saero told him. “He’s thirteen going on thirty, more than likely he will be late for his own birthday party because he is hovering around Naithar and that pod.”
Getting an idea of something a budding young horticulturist might like Harry steered Saero down a side corridor towards the atrium along the front of the outpost.
Surprised and then delighted as he walked into a room that made him think he had stepped out into a tropical rainforest Saero was about to ask why he was led here when he noticed Harry kneeling on the floor and digging around in the dirt near a small shrub that had huge dark red veined orange flowers.
Tamping the dirt around the roots and sending a small amount of magic to heal any damage from his prying it away from its parent. Harry stood with the newly potted sucker of one of his more spectacular hibiscus varieties.
Grinning Harry handed over the pot as he summoned a small book from one of the glass cases and made a copy of it. “For the birthday boy. This book should explain how to take care of the Hibiscus so that it thrived.”
Astonished at the generosity Saero stammered a thank you as Harry led them once more back towards the hospital.
Seeing the time Harry made his way back to his office to prepare for his meeting with Eldest and Toby before he handed out the pay to the House elves.
It still made them awe struck when they received their pay from him directly for some reason. Actually he wondered if they were not hording the gold somewhere instead of using it on themselves like he had hoped.
Knowing that the house elves were to proud and stubborn to accept pay for days they had not worked Harry conjured up a bunch of drawstring pouches and placed two Galleons in each one.
Remembering the dirt covered Bitsy busy working hard to pull weeds in the garden Harry added a silver pouch to the pile and placed three Knut’s in it.
Greeting Eldest and Toby as they walked into the office Harry smiled as he accepted the sheet of parchment that Toby had neatly written names and occupations along with small notes about the house elf on separate lines.
Greeting yet another house elf employee and watching their awe filled eyes as he passed over a pouch filled with twenty five Galleons Harry made small talk yet again and hid his smile as yet another house elf left the office speechless clutching the little pouch to their chest.
Looking up from his list to see a very tired Bitsy drag himself into his office Harry had to smile at the small argument he had won with Eldest over whether or not Bitsy had done enough work to buy his paints.
Harry had won in the end when Eldest had to admit it did take more effort to do the chores without magic and Bitsy had worked hard and logner than he expected.
Handing over the small silver pouch Bitsy’s eyes widened in surprise as he felt the three small coins in the pouch.
“Bitsy you worked a little bit more than what the paints cost so there is the extra money for your work.” Harry told him gently while the young elf burst into tears as he clenched the little bag in joy.
Bitsy did not even think to thank Harry as he ran out of the office in joy wanting to show his mother minder his pay.
Half way down the hallway Bitsy skidded to a stop when he realized what he had done and ran back to the office bouncing off the doorframe exclaiming his “thank you Sir” all the while.
Waiting until the young elf had left the room once more Harry broke down laughing as he put the list away in his drawer and stretched the kinks out before hunting up his supper.
XXX
Feeling something was not right Harry rolled over and noticed it was four thirty in the morning.
Opening his senses up Harry realized that a young werewolf had arrived in the hospital area and the wards had activated to encase the unconscious injured werewolf as it reverse transformed back to a human.
Dressing quickly Harry made his way out the screen door and across the yard to the hospital barn.
Entering through the side door Harry deactivated the encasement wards and moved to the young humans side.
Noticing an arrow protruding from the humans side he preformed a quick scan to make sure it had hit nothing vital.
Noticing the arrows tip was barbed and made of silver Harry growled deep in his throat in anger at the barbarity of some as they hunted others down for something they had no control over.
Conjuring a scalpel Harry quickly cut the arrow out of the boys side, making a bloody mess of his side, knowing he could fix it later.
Performing a silver summoning charm that he had found in his library while looking over Dwarvian mining texts on the extraction of mithril from deep beneath the earth.
Most of the silver should have been removed by now Harry thought as he cast a quick clotting charm and rolled the boy over.
Seeing no other injuries Harry glanced up towards the boys face and paled. Damn its Remus Harry thought.
Levitating him Harry started him towards one of the beds where he noticed several of the Elvin healers preparing to treat the injured boy.
Halfway down the aisle Harry heard a Growl of anger come from behind him. “Drop my bounty boy. This is my kill.”
Looking over his shoulder to see a bearded man dressed in fur leggings and vest Harry’s eyes widened slightly as he noticed he was notching the bloody arrow he had left on the floor in the crossbow between his knees.
Ignoring the cries of outrage from the healers that were running his way from inside Harry smiled an evil smile as the man lifted his crossbow and started to point it in his direction.
“The law of Sanctuary has been violated. You are herby sentenced to death.” Chimed through the barn and the woods around the array the man used to come to Sanctuary.
The hunter fell to the ground convulsing in agony as he disappeared in a flash of light to reappear outside the green grass of the clearing holding the sanctuary circle.
They would find him in two days time impaled on a spike made of earth with a warning floating in front of him that all who broke the law of sanctuary would suffer the same fate.
Walking through the energy barrier that was to keep insects out of the hospital proper Harry set Remus down gently on one of the beds and moved to one side as the healers took over.
Gently shoving Harry towards the sink to clean up Amathal told him. “Lord Arkenea’ghymn let us do our job. Go clean that blood off your hands and clothes, come back after you have done so if you wish.”
Loosing control again thought Harry, first my kitchen now my hospital. There is no way in hell any one is going to get to go in my library if this keeps up Harry thought as he moved towards the hallway intent on a shower and change.
Then maybe he could find out why Remus was not safely tucked inside the Shrieking Shack.
After a long hot shower where Harry was lost in thought remembering all he could of Remus the man and what he was like as a boy Harry wondered just what this version of Remus would be like.
Deciding to sneak into the kitchen and fix his own breakfast for once Harry left his bedroom and quietly made his way down the hall like some super secret spy on a secret mission.
Sneaking a quick peak around the corner Harry let his mind flash back to what he had seen and then peaked around the corner again, slowly this time.
Grinning as the kitchen was empty and quiet, Harry tiptoed into the room dreaming of waffles and bacon made by his own two hands.
Pulling the waffle iron and letting it get hot while putting some bacon in a pan Harry started to pull the ingredients out to mix up the waffle batter. After whipping the batter into a nice fluffy froth Harry decided that if there were any pecans left they would taste pretty good.
Flipping the bacon Harry made his way into the pantry not seeing any pecans but noticing some chocolate chips Harry picked them up and walked out of the pantry to see Trisky standing there tears running down her face.
Wondering how in the nine levels of hell she had known he was here Harry asked slowly and softly. “Trisky is something wrong? Why are you crying?”
Trisky hiccupped before saying. Sir does not like his Trisky’s cooking. Sir is not wanting Trisky to cook for him.”
Harry sighed and gave in to the inevitable. Handing over the chocolate chips he told her. “I really like your cooking Trisky, I just did not want to wake you up this early.”
Trisky smiled and bounced up and down a couple of times, doing the emotional roller coaster house elves are so good at doing. “Sir Emerald Eyes Really likes Trisky’s cooking. Sir be sitting down while Trisky fixes his breakfast.”
Shaking his head and sitting down at the table he missed the evil smile that crossed Trisky’s face, this was her kitchen and no one got to cook in it but her.
Vowing to build a secret kitchen that no one knew about but him Harry finished the second helping of waffles and thanked Trisky for the wonderful meal.
“Trisky is there any bacon or waffles left, the reason I am awake so early is that we received a injured young wizard through the array this morning. He might be up to eating something by now.” Harry informed her then asked for a plate to be prepared.
About to get up from the table to go check on Remus Harry sat back down again when Hedwig flew through the open window with a scroll tied to her leg.
Offering Hedwig some of the bacon of off the plate being prepared for Remus Harry slowly untied the scroll from around Hedwig’s leg wondering who would send him a letter, not only that how they would know to use Hedwig to do so.
Setting the scroll down on the table Harry stared at it for a moment before prodding it with a finger rolling it over so he could see the seal.
The seal was the Gringotts seal. Cracking the seal open Harry unrolled the scroll and started to read what was penned there.
Reading the note for a second time thinking about what had been written Harry rolled it back up and absent mindedly stroked Hedwig for a few minutes as he thought about what this could mean.
If this world followed his, this information would allow him to break the back of the house elf slavery totally.
It would be the end of an era, and in the not to far distant future there would not be one single house elf ever enslaved again, as without the queens used for breeding, none of the current enslaved elves could be used as breeders as the enslavement spells cast on them shortly after birth rendered them sterile.
This was something he had best handle right now, Remus would have to wait until he returned before he had a chance to sit and talk with him and learn about this Remus and his friends.
“Trisky could you take this plate to the hospital and make sure Remus eats please.” Harry laid a hand on hers as she reached for the plate.
Seeing her hesitate and look up to him Harry told her. “After he eats go find Eldest and have him prepare a count of how many open dwellings are in the house trees where the house elves live.”
Standing up to quickly moving towards his secret vault Harry told her as he left the room. “Have him prepare as many as he can for new house elves that will be arriving.”
Staring at the retreating back of the High One she looked to the satisfied preening owl and wondered what was happening and if she had enough food on hand.
Fifteen minutes later Harry passed the now healed young man as he was eating his breakfast eyes glancing around the room trying ot discern his whereabouts.
Opening a rift inside the array circle Harry stepped out into Diagon Ally in a dark corner near the Ice cream shop.
Ignoring the patrolling Aurors Harry quickly covered the distance to Gringotts and climbed the steps.
Finding the door closed and locked he raised his hand and casting an amplifying effect on the door pounded on it several times.
Being forewarned that the High One would be showing up Griphook thought it was strange that the bank doors sounded like they were being battered, yet the ward monitors had not sounded an alarm.
Walking closer to the door he activated the withdrawing rods that would allow a small window to be drawn back hidden from the front view of the bank.
Sliding the window open Griphook looked out and up to see who was pounding at the banks door this early only to see the High One looking impatient as he moved to knock on the door again.
Slamming the window closed in fright Griphook looked around to see who was responding to the knocking, only to see no one around.
Thinking it very bad idea to make the High One wait any longer Griphook reengaged the locking device and jumped down off the ledge and made his way over to the door.
Knowing he could be put to death for opening the door, yet knowing his race could be dealt the same for angering the High One Griphook unlocked the door and opened it long enough for the High One to enter knowing that doing so would sound the alarms.
Locking the doors after letting the High One in Griphook escorted him to the lobby and practically screamed out as the guards rushed in. ”High One.”
Shaking his head as the guards dropped their weapons and tried to stop moving only to end up having a Benny Hill moment bouncing to the floor.
Shaking his head Harry told Griphook. “I seem to have been remiss in leaving you a way to contact me, though Hedwig brought me a note from Glathrock this morning.”
“I need to speak to…” Harry trailed off as he saw Glathrock enter the lobby.
Bowing his head and holding it Glathrock said fearfully. “I apologize High One for not contacting you sooner, but we had no way to get a message to you until that white owl showed up last night willing to accept your letter.”
“Yes she always has had an uncanny ability to find me.” Harry said lost in memory.
Shaking himself out of the melancholy Harry threw the small trunk from his belt to the floor and flicking a finger at it enlarged it.
“Two million Galleons more or less. How soon can you secure the purchase of the facilities?” Harry asked eyes boring into the Goblin.
Sighing in relief that he had made the right choice Glathrock told him as he was getting a crick in his neck from holding the bow. ‘We have already purchased the facilities in anticipation of the humiliation of the wizard as you wished.”
Sighing Harry told him. “Stand up so I can see whom I am talking to?” Remembering that Goblins sneered a politeness considering it a showing of weakness.
“Are these the only two facilities of their kind in the world?” Harry asked.
“Yes High One with the ownership of these two facilities you control the future market of house elves worldwide.” Glathrock so wanted to sneer at the thought of slavery.
Shaking his head in disagreement Harry told him. “NO Glathrock with control of these two facilities and the removal of the occupants to protected lands, it means the end of this insult to magical races.”
“I need the location and keys to the wards of these facilities so they can be emptied as soon as possible before I destroy them.” Harry told him a gleam in his eye and the thought of what he was going to do.
Whispering for Griphook to quickly bring Watchblock here with the requested items he almost missed the High Ones words.
“In the future you can contact me through Harold Potter, just seal the scroll into another and send it to him. He knows how to get a message to me. If it is time sensitive send some one to the forest that touches Hogwarts and the edge of Hogsmeade and call for a Centaur and ask them to send for me.”
It did not take long for Watchblock to come running into the lobby carrying a case and two sheets of sealed parchment. Bowing he said doing better this time at showing his fear. “The facilities have been placed under a Fidelius and the pass phrase is on the sealed parchments. We had the secret keeper recast the Fidelius and then modified his memory of the event afterwards.”
“The case holds the deeds and directions to the facilities along with a description of what can be found in each facility.” Watchblock waited to be allowed to end his bow.
Harry conjured a table and placed the case on it and opened it up and looked at the facility descriptions and noticed the locations attached to the reports. Grabbing only those portions he turned and looked at the bowing Goblin in a funny way before saying. “Thank you, this is extremely good work, is there a reason you are looking at the floor. A bow of respect usually has two parts the part where your head goes down and holds for a moment and the part where it comes back up to eye level and looks at the person being bowed to.”
“You do know that right.” Harry asked hoping to make a little headway with the Goblins, it made it so hard to work with a being if you could not see their expressions to know what they were thinking.
“Please put the deeds in my vault until such time as I can think of something to do with the vacant land and double the transaction fees for a timely and wise move.” Harry told them as he turned to make his way out of the bank only to see the closed and locked doors in front of him.
Waving his hand and muttering under his breath a longish metal smithing incantation, the doors melted into a puddle so he could walk through them and he countered the spell after he started down the steps into the ally leaving the doors whole once more behind him.
Scanning the ally and not seeing anyone as it was still to early Harry opened a rift and stepped through.

i love this story. it gets better with every chapter.
Another great chapter. I am looking forward to Harry talking to Remus. It should be interesting. Harry's little chef is a devious thing isn't she? LOL I am glad more people are going to move to Harry's lands he needs more people around no matter how much he wants to be left alone. What I think he really means when he says left alone is left to live his life and not the life of 'Harry Potter- Boy who lived' And he wants to be away from the manipulations of 'old men' I liked the library scene I can just picture the elf Lord taunting the other one. I think Santuary is going to be a great place with all those new people... 'the dreamers' and such will make it interesting. A place needs dreamers to keep it from becoming stagnate sorta like the wizarding world (from Harry's original world) became... no advancements and still living in the 1800's mostly. Ok done babbling I look forward to more of this awesome story.
joey
I love this story and it IS getting better and better every chapter but please don't let it be a short story please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice update. I do have a question.
Why did Harry conjure up little draw string bags and place 2 galleons in them? He pays the elves 25. Were those bags for something else?
Anyway thx for the update it was great from the elf Lord taunting the other one to Harry talking to the goblins and helping Remus. It should also be interesting with new people moving in... it will give the house elves more work ... well hopefully the high elves will hire some to work for them or something.
update soon please
Alix
This is truly becoming a masterpiece as well. I was thinking when I saw the picture of the Library that Hermione would have creamed her g-string at the mere sight. LOL
Pity that mentality but still appreciate the knowledge. lol
Where the hell did you cough up that picture from?
Waiting for the next installments.
